Toddler dies after sex assault in Richmond motel room

The toddler died Friday from injuries she suffered after a violent sexual assault at a South Richmond motel, police said. Her mom, Aija Brown, said she left her daughter in the room with a person she trusted.

Police confirmed a person of interest in the case was jailed. He was arrested by US Marshals on a probation violation, Crime Insider sources told Burkett.

The girl’s mother, Aija Brown, had left her with her year-long boyfriend and someone she’d known since fourth grade and trusted in their motel room at the Colony House Motor Lodge, while giving a relative a ride.

I'm from Richmond (not that that really matters) but this case has made me sick to my stomach since first seeing it on the news a few days ago. It started off that a toddler was assaulted and was injured. I had no idea the real story would be so much worse- sexually assaulted and deceased from her injuries. It's impossible for me to wrap my mind around this. As horrifying as it is, I'm glad to see her story is getting attention here. I'm so looking forward to justice in this case.
Virginia is a death penalty state by the way. Some neat statistics I found- VA has the shortest average time between sentencing and execution(less than 8 years) and after Texas we're the #2 in number of executions carried out since 1976. There are only 2 men on death row right now in Virginia. Hoping for this sick freak to join them

I've seen his name (he has been arrested on a previous parole violation) on the mom's fb page. Never any mention of a father for this precious little one. I downloaded the screen shot of his arrest. I cannot fathom why they would not release this pedophile's name?
