He already has been sued by an Indiana bank that claims he failed to repay at least $2 million in loans for a car rental business, and by a Canadian bank that claims he owes more than $2.3 million for real estate investments.

Let's hope the Indiana bank and the Canadian one are both successful in getting their money back.

Arbitrator rules Falcons can recoup nearly $20 million in bonus money paid to Vick

ATLANTA (AP) -- Michael Vick has taken another hit -- and this one could cost him nearly $20 million. Already facing prison time, the disgraced quarterback lost the first round in his financial battle with the Atlanta Falcons when an arbitrator ruled Tuesday that Vick should repay much of the bonus money he got while secretly bankrolling a gruesome dogfighting ring.

The case is far from over. The players' union said it will appeal the ruling by Stephen B. Burbank, a University of Pennsylvania law professor and special master who oversaw last week's arbitration hearing in Philadelphia.

The Falcons argued that Vick, who pleaded guilty to federal charges for his role in the long-running operation, knew he was in violation of the contract when he signed a 10-year, $130 million deal in December 2004. The team said he used proceeds from the contract to fund his illicit activities and sought the repayment of $19,970,000 in bonuses he was paid over the last three years. Any money the Falcons recover from Vick would be credited to its future salary cap, a huge step in recovering from the loss of the team's franchise player. Atlanta (1-4) is off to a dismal start with Joey Harrington at quarterback. "We are certainly pleased with today's ruling," the Falcons said in a statement. "It is the first step in a process that our club has undertaken in an attempt to recoup significant salary cap space that will allow us to continue to build our football team today and in future years."

In a highly technical, nine-page ruling, Burbank said the Falcons were entitled to $3.75 million of the $7.5 million bonus that Vick was paid after signing the deal in 2004, $13.5 million of the $22.5 million in roster, reporting and playing bonuses he was paid in 2005 and 2006, and $2.72 million of the $7 million roster, reporting and playing bonus that he received this year.

Doesn't take long to forget saying you found Jesus and are taking full responsibility for your actions does it?

Actually they (PETA) are in Norfolk, and I do not consider this the deep south if any thing Vick is from the near inner city. Now Sufolk is country, and may be considered more deep south good ole boy ish

Hi Spazkat,
I've lived here for over 30 years and don't consider this area the deep south. FWIW- Whoopie said Vick was from the deep south. Most areas across the James River Bridge are considered country and Vick's house was built in the country--far away from neighbors and main roads. Of course now we know why he built his home there.:loser:

I just read an article on MSN that Vick's high school has removed his jersey from the trophy case.

My youngest daughter attends school at WHS. I think it's fitting and proper that Vick's jersey was removed. The principal imo made a wise decision.
She said school officials received no outside pressure to remove the jersey, deciding on their own that "it was the right thing to do."

I wonder how the State Of Virginia v. Michael Vick will work out. That's scheduled to go to trial. No end to the deep puckey that Micahael Vick finds himself *ss-deep in.

You know, so much of life depends on everyone fitting in together, with laws as boundaries, as to what is, and what isn't acceptable, to the rest of us. For those from other countries, we accept them as long as they are willing to live within our laws. It isn't as if Michael Vick, an American citizen, didn't understand that what he was doing was outside of our laws. After all, he had to keep this hidden; geez, he would've had to be deaf, dumb, and blind, not to understand what that meant. The good things about our laws, is that, for the most part, they apply equally, rich, or poor, to all of of us. Sorry Michael, you ....'d up big time.

I've lived here for a little over 30 years too. Most of it in Hampton. I graduated from Kecoughtan HS many years ago. I agree Newport News is not the deep south; However, I do think some areas of Suffolk are more southish (is that a word) that the rest of metro Hampton Roads.

I agree with your post Buzz. It seems to me that some people are never happy with the success and/or fortune they already have....they always have to test the limits. I hope the court throws the book at Vick and makes an example out of him.

be, I'm betting, in the light of this setback, that MV has been living beyond his means. This means that, rather than the money flowing in rivers to him, MV Lake is going to be like a lake, just when the dam burst, with all the money rushing out. I'll be surprised if he has much, if anything, by the time this plays out in 3-4 years.

Who is his attorney? Is it someone high profile?

I agree, I bet Vick spent that money faster than he could make it. I mean, he is so young.....he probably thought he could save money later. What an idiot that young man is. :bang:

Now the real question is: who will buy MV's Virginia "Bad Dogz" breeding, and training, home - it should go cheap.

That's funny when you think about how small the world is. I am actually a second generation KHS grad. My dad graduated KHS and my mom started at Warwick but graduated from Menchville, it's first class of graduates. I am KHS class of 95. Our legacy is "shorty" getting stabbed outside of the cafeteria then collapsing and passing away in the cafeteria about 5 feet from where I was sitting. My understanding of the incident was that it was over a girl. I often feel bad about that day because no one rushed over to help him, but it's not like we were standing around just looking at him. The cafeteria was busy with lunch stuff and we didn't realize what had happened until he collapsed, and even then not really. Of course after he fell we rushed to help, but I am still haunted to this day by my lack of attention to my surroundings and his situation. I often wonder ~ what if I had noticed could I have saved him (pressure to stop the bleeding) or at least comforted him in his last moments? Did he call out for help and I just didn't hear him? Well I better move on before I upset myself.

I don't think his attorney can save him; attornies don't loan money, they steal money, almost everything you have (if they are good). The way it works, is when you have to sell, the market is always depressed, and the funny thing is, the guys with the money, are always buying into the crash, and selling on the rebound, not vis a versa

It was sold before the search where they feds came in looking for the graves of other dogs. You're correct I think the house sold quickly and I'm pretty sure "Bad Dogz" is out of business.

It is a small world. You are a baby---ms class of 95. :blowkiss:
My husband graduated from KHS in 1973, I graduated from the now defunct Pembroke HS. Maybe my husband and your dad. lol
Honey, I remember the incident you witnessed. Trust me, if we could turn back time, things in that situation would still turn out the same. I believe that some things were just meant to be. Don't feel guilty about that.

You got that right...... someone insider got a deal and a half on the house. It was worth a couple mil and was auctioned off to a private cough cough, citizen, who bought it for approx 200,00.00.

The last I heard on local news, most of the dogs will be adopted through a very strict process.
