A search warrant obtained by the Star-Tribune today revealed a cooperating witness told police that the man named in the document was the last to be seen with Pruitt alive, on surveillance tape.

"A cooperating witness advised that [the man in question] killed Zachary Pruitt to silence him over the larceny of five firearms on July 16, 2020," the warrant states.

Zachary Dylan Pruitt, 25, of Chatham, VA passed away unexpectedly September 9, 2020. He was born December 9, 1994 in Danville, VA to Richard Pruitt and Michelle Bullock Pruitt.
Zachary was a 2013 graduate of Chatham High School, where he played football and wrestled for four years. He loved music and enjoyed playing his guitar, he also enjoyed playing pool. He will be remembered by his family as loving son and brother.

It sounds like they know who did it and have someone willing to testify against the perp. I read through the ‘Find Zachary’ Facebook page and it sounds like this young man was loved by many. Hopefully justice will be swift. All opinions are my own.

Search warrants show Chatham man who went missing in July was allegedly killed

According to the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, on July 28, Pruitt was on video with a person who is not being identified.

Search warrants report that the person was the last person known to be with Pruitt when he was alive.

According to the warrants, a witness told investigators that the person killed Pruitt to silence him over the larceny of five firearms on July 16.
