So Pillay is still representing DM even though he's indigent and can't pay him?

I guess MB is not there to support him?

Crown attorney reminded me that "52 Fridays ago" Dellen Millard + Mark Smich were found guilty of Tim #Bosma's first degree murder. #hamont

I hope they've both enjoyed the past year in a federal prison. They ARE in a federal prison aren't they? :waitasec:

It's not actually public information, which prison they're in. However, Smich was definitely in Joyceville and is likely still there. The talk is Millard's in Millhaven but I haven't been able to confirm it.

Joyceville is medium/minimum:

Millhaven is max:

I'm in a Toronto courtroom this morning for Matthew Ward-Jackson who is facing gun trafficking charges. You may remember him as "Iisho"...

Susan Clairmont‏ @susanclairmont
...from the Tim #Bosma murder case. The Crown alleged he sold Dellen Millard the Walther PPK pistol that may have been the murder weapon.

Matthew Ward-Jackson pleads guilty to three counts of weapons trafficking. Still facing a separate count re AK-47 and awaits trial on that

I guess there was nothing that Susan could report on due to publication bans. According to the docket he was there "to be spoken to" so perhaps they have set a date for trial?

WARD-JACKSON, MATTHEW CR-16-50000600-0000 R. v WAWRYKIEWICZ ET AL 10:00 AM COURTROOM 4-2 TO BE SPOKEN TO

Interesting that MW's name is still attached to that case number in the records. I suppose that's not really an issue.

And....nevermind. He plead guilty. Makes sense. He'll probably just get time served with a little extra on that one.

Matthew Ward-Jackson, of Etobicoke, has pleaded guilty to three counts of trafficking a firearm. One of those counts relates to the gun...

...he sold to Dellen Millard which was used to murder Tim #Bosma, according to an agreed statement of facts. #HamOnt

OH I don't know about that - pretty serious charges. OTOH he's been in the can for 3.5 years and he'd get 5.25 years credit for that...

Susan Clairmont‏ @susanclairmont
Popped into Smich/Millard matter. Smich not there. Millard there. Hair longer, greasier. Complexion very grey. Aged since trial. #hamont

Susan Clairmont‏ @susanclairmont
I'm not allowed to say anything because of publication bans. #bosma #hamont

And I wonder if he also pled guilty to any gun that killed Wayne Millard and Laura Babcock? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Tim Bosma killer to gun dealer: 'She'll be a dirty girl'
http://www.torontosun.com/2017/06/29/tim-bosma-killer-to-gun-dealer-shell-be-a-dirty-girl

Throughout the year 2012, Ward-Jackson and Millard were acquaintances, who generally, but not always, communicated via text messages, said Cameron in reading an agreed statement of fact.

At least three times in 2012, the acquaintances “hung out” in person, once at the gun dealer’s apartment near the intersection of Royal York Rd. and Dundas St. W. in Etobicoke.

Ward-Jackson’s lawyer Kim Schofield told Justice Jane Kelly that her client never knew what Millard would do with the three guns he bought, which included a Smith and Wesson revolver and the Walther PPK 9mm, a weapon made famous by movie spy James Bond.

Bang bang bang. Three guns.

Three guns, three dead people. Interesting that the Toronto Sun article only listed the make of two of the three guns that MWJ admitted to selling to DM. Can we assume the third make of gun may come up in another trial. Like maybe a gun that was confiscated from a home by LE after a particular "suicide"?

Man who sold gun to Bosma killer pleads guilty

Matthew Ward-Jackson, in all his tattooed glory, sits with a hang-dog expression in the prisoner's box of a downtown Toronto courtroom. He has no friends or family here, just a handful of journalists watching him closely

Ward-Jackson — or Iisho as he was known during Tim's murder trial last year — is pleading guilty to three counts of firearms trafficking. I can't tell you anything about two of those counts because they are shrouded by publication bans.

[...]

Ward-Jackson is a wannabe rapper who used the name Big Iisho in a low-brow video he made. It is mostly himself stuffing money into the cleavage of scantily clad women or spraying Champagne over their bodies.

The 30-year-old from Etobicoke is hard to miss. His scalp, face, throat and hands are entirely covered in ink.

All those markings make him appear almost clownish in the courtroom. And he has lost his gangsta swagger.

[...]

Assistant Crown Jill Cameron is asking for a total jail sentence of nine years, minus 1.5 days for each day Ward-Jackson has been in custody since his 2014 arrest.

Ward-Jackson's lawyer, Kim Schofield, wants five years with "enhanced" credit for her client's stay in the "harsh conditions" of the Toronto South Detention Centre.

Later in the day, in the same University Avenue courthouse, Millard makes an appearance. Again, due to publication bans, I can't tell you what that was about.

But I can tell you the 31-year-old has aged drastically in the year since he was convicted of Tim's murder.

He hunches over in the prisoner's box, tucking his shaggy, greasy hair behind his ears. His pallor is a mottled grey and he has gained weight. He has a scruffy beard.

Gone is the bravado he had during the trial. Though he looks carefully at journalists he knows in the courtroom, he does not wave or smile the way he once routinely did.

He has gone from smug to sombre.

I find it rather interesting MWJ pled guilty. Perhaps he was afraid DM might have been called as a witness revealing more than what LE know. Or does he figure he's pretty much served his sentence now and especially if his lawyer can get his sentence reduced. He'll be back on the streets rapping his crap, visiting tat parlours, car meets hanging with his good buddies and the Got 🤬🤬🤬 chickies soon enough...and likely back to his business of buy and selling illegal guns and drugs. MOO.
