Right, but all we know about this guy Matt is Jodi's reference to him and some comments "he" supposedly left on a website. Just wondered if he was made up. I know the magazine she was trying to smuggle out of jail was for a "Matt", but that name could have been a pseudonym. It seems nobody has ever even seen this guy. This Kinda bugs me.
There was extensive testimony about her relationship with Matt, in fact, she met him through her ex-boyfriend Bobby Juarez. She pulled some of the same tricks with Matt that she did with Travis (including a story about a person coming into the restaurant where she worked to tell her Matt/Travis was cheating on her). There was a photo of Jodi with blonde hair taken with Matt's dog on June 2 that was shown in the rebuttal case where JM was driving home that she dyed her hair brown on June 3. I'm not convinced that the comments posted under the name Matt McCartney on the pro-Jodi website were authored by him, but I have no doubt that he exists. Juan alluded to Matt being involved in the pedophilia story and the forged letters when he cross-examined Jodi, and the coded messages in the magazines were reportedly intended for him. If she's convicted of first degree, then we could potentially see him on the stand in another phase of the trial. If the defense believed that he was a good witness for Jodi in the guilt/innocence phase of the trial, then they would have called him. He was damaged goods and too risky IMO.

She is different than someone who hasn't faced true hardships. Some people just don't save money when they are young...they figure that there is no need to.

I have wondered if there has been evidence, story, testimony about anything that Jodi did FOR anyone else, in the form of benevolence or generosity. Oh, she took pictures at that friend's wedding... ok, now I'm stuck.

I don't know how fast her phone would have rebounded in 2008. Mine in 2013 rebounds pretty fast.

But that's assuming it needed to rebound in the first place. I believe what you're getting at is right. It wasn't out of battery; it was turned off, therefore, she could use it immediately upon turning it back on, probably no charger needed. I don't know how long a battery lasts while the phone is off, though.

Jodi apparently didn't have a lot of money. She had to buy suntan lotion, gas cans, bikini waxes and all that. So I don't fault her for not pulling over to get the all essential charger. I do fault her for not pulling over and looking under the dang on seat. That's free! But of course there is no need to look for what is not lost.

I have an iPhone and if I let it die because I'm too lazy to walk 4 steps over to the drawer for the charger, lol, when I plug it in, I have to wait about 5 minutes for a partial green on the battery.

I really wish we knew what Travis discovered about her.

I don't believe she went there intending to give him one last change to take her to Cancun. I think she went there specifically to get rid of her big loose cannon of a problem and the sun block was because she'd be out in the desert under the hot sun burying evidence.

I know, I know. There is nothing to indicate that's what happened. The way she was sneaking greedy looks at those autopsy and crime scene photos convinced me she has a few trophies from the crime buried out there. She thinks she's walking free, "don't ya know"?

lol

To make it clearer, the cell phone time gap (at least 10 hours) was the primary obstacle for Jodi. She knew she would be grilled on it by detectives. You're on a long road trip to Utah and here your cell phone is turned off for a considerable amount of time, just enough time to ghost your way in and out of Arizona to commit the murder. Why not stop or pull over somewhere to buy a new charger if your other one was lost? She tells dead Travis, "I got lost, driving 100 miles in the wrong direction" and later tells Flores something similar. Basically, I couldn't pull over anywhere to buy a new charger because I was "stranded" -- the exact word she uses when talking to Flores in her first video recorded interview about the cell phone issue. So the lost/stranded cover story is intended to EXPLAIN why she took so long to turn on her cell phone and to help sell this story she tells Burns that she'll be arriving at 9:00AM -- to give evidence of a DELAY that would corroborate her "I was stranded" cover up for the cell phone time gap.

I don't believe the stranded story ever made it to the jury. Can anyone confirm that? But the stranded story was even stupider because the charger was under the seat. She is an idiot if she was stranded that long and can't look under the seat for the charger for all that time. She also never explains to my memory how she got "Unstranded" or what the problem was with the car.

I believe this story was told before she admitted going to Travis' house.

Yeah the phone lie. So worried about running out of gas that she doesn't bother to find a phone charger?

Jodi was used to telling her lies one-on-one to people who would never meet to compare them. Suddenly she escalated them to put herself into a corner where the lies mattered and could be verified for a reason.

I thought CA turned out correctly. Don't yell, and not really asking for discussion just stating an opinion.

JA's trial was over for me a long time ago. I watch for Juan's performance. He's outstanding. One of the truly great ones.

Don't Matt and Daryl know each other too? That is just nasty Jodi!! :floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

I know we all complain about HLN & the circus atmosphere but check out newspaper articles from the 1800's. Some of those trials attracted whole families. They packed a picnic & it was family entertainment right down to watching the convicted get hanged.

I am pretty sure that's what I seen earlier tonight. Ok, maybe not a picnic, but I did see kids there. JMO but I find it inappropriate.

I just have to question whether it's wise to tell a room full of people that you don't like an abused victim of DV with PTSD. Isn't that kind of like more abuse? How come she didn't cry about that? You'd think a person suffering from years of verbal and physical abuse wouldn't find that funny at all, especially from the one person whom you are now trusting with your life. You'd think that would devastate a person who was truly abused. Just another DT blunder IMO.

Exactly---and didn't he kind of throw his co-counsel under the bus by saying their defendant was unlikeable. JW and JA have been giggling and passing notes and being goo goo eyed with each other for weeks now. And Nurmi made his partner look foolish by labeling the killer as an unlikeable person. JMO

I turned it on as they had producer Natisha Lance trying to return a gas can wo a receipt to a Walmart in AZ.

What a waste of time for a producer. I spent some time with Natisha in Orlando a few years ago, and she is a great person! Very smart, and they have lowered her to this??? It just ticks me off. NG couldn't have covered the CA case wo Natisha. She was fantastic!

Off my soap box now. Sorry....
You are so right about Natisha, I remember her from NG. The back of my head faces the TV, and the sound is down low, I thought I heard Latisha.

My mom said that can be grounds for an appeal, because she said that your attorney is supposed to be in your corner. Apparently Nurmi left the corner, and LEFT the BUILDING as well.

I love how Mr Martinez says Bobbie Juarez

Yes you can. The jury is allowed to review all of the evidence during deliberation, and trial testimony is evidence. It is at the judge's descretion as to what evidence the jury requests as to whether or not they can review it by considering why they want to review it, how much of it they should be given to review, etc. However, when it comes to trial testimony, it may be impossible for the jury while in deliberations to review certain trial testimony if that testimony has not yet been typed up, BUT the judge can have trial testimony that has not yet been typed up read in court by the court reporter from their "notes" as sometimes occurs during trial.

What the court reporter is typing up during testimony is more like a shorthand rather than regular typed out words, so the court reporter would be the only person able to decifer these "notes" in order to translate that information back as regular English words. The judge can also have the court reporter type up certain sections of trial testimony for the jury to review if what the jury requests to review is a small section though it would be more likely that the judge would just have the court reporter read out to the jury in court whatever section of testimony the jury requested to review and the jury members can then take notes on whatever it is about the testimony they were interested in if they want.

I'm not sure where anyone is getting that trial testimony can't be reviewed by a deliberating jury. Trial testimony is evidence, and the jury is always entitled to review all the evidence during deliberations.

The only example I can think of what a judge would not allow a jury to review during deliberations is testimony that for whatever reason was stricken from the record by the judge and the jury instructed at the time they should disregard or testimony that was given before there was an objection voiced and that objection concerning whatever the witness or attorney was saying was sustained.

If a few posts are to be believed, sounds like it might be different in Arizona. Seems odd to me, never heard of that, but perhaps since they are allowed to ask questions to each witness?

BBM ~ And don't forget grinding.

Perhaps she just wanted Ryan to "think" she was coming straight away (part of her alibi), when she knew all along that she would blame her late arrival on getting lost/being an airhead/falling asleep in the car--and of course she couldn't call him because her phone died/she lost her charger/had crappy cell reception.

Jodi was headed to Travis's with murder in mind, but she didn't know exactly how much time she'd spend at his home before she killed him. She couldn't very well tell Ryan that she was taking a detour to Mesa, and there was no other way to explain her whereabouts, so WHAT'S A GIRL TO DO? Tell Ryan that she's on her way and she'll see him soon, then shut off the phone, drive to Mesa, murder Travis, then be on her way to Utah and tell a bunch of lies to Ryan.

That is what I was just saying. According to the roommate he thought TA was already in Cancun. So, I'm guessing he was watching the dog? I keep thinking about it from a married woman/Mom point of view and not a single young guy. I would think he would know the week he was responsible for the dog, but I guess not. I read the same thing about the door and the gate. I'm also surprised Napoleon never made it up the steps especially with the smell.

One of the roommate's girlfriends was going to take care of Napoleon. They thought it was strange that his door to his room was locked and there was a gate blocking the stairs so the dog couldn't go up. (I might be wrong about the last part, I read that somewhere). I believe the roommates did think they smelled something but again, the last thing on their minds was a roommate upstairs murdered. I think they all thought he was out of town already.

the mention of cash - reminded me of what Nurmi said - she stopped at WA Mutual to deposit cash into her 2 accounts. WHERE did she get this CASH to deposit? $$ from her "tricks" with Matt and Darryl???

Funny shenanigans, huh? JM was not allowed to call the bank fraud lady in to testify but Nurmi chooses to discuss banking.

I took a nap, and just jumped out of the bed like the damn thing was on fire :scared:

Glad I didn't miss a verdict....even though I KNEW we wouldn't get one today!
I was still very discombobulated!

Doesn't matter. She said she got cash. No receipt = no cash. They have to have a receipt, for cash, then mark the return on the receipt for the exact item. Bell Arias, had a receipt, with NO markings, on the gas can line item.

And if it were true she had returned it to another WalMart, the DT would have made very, very sure to verify that a long time ago. Which only confirms absolutely that it is nothing but more of their BS. :twocents:
