LA as in Louisiana or LA as in Los Angeles? I grew up in Texas and heard "shine it on" and "mmm heavy"..Not ready to hit the hay yet..I am a night owl!

LA as in Los Angeles. But I grew up in the northeast, so I wouldn't have known the phrase if it was used in Tx either. It was all west to me then.

Actually... my initial prediction was a Wednesday verdict. I thought that was a respectable amount of time to deliver a murder 1 verdict. I don't know why I'm feeling so deflated by today going by without resolution. No drinky tonight because I have to pick my BF up from the airport in an hour ... Maybe THAT'S why...

No drinky? Dam. I'll have a few for you - Have fun with your BF - Do whatever you want to do.....

The only I can re-watch testimony is not watching but just to listen. I feel like meditating tonight.

Why does Dr. Drew pronounce Mark Eiglarsh like a pirate? Mark ArrrghArrrgh.

It's very distracting.

Edited to add ... maybe it's just the wine. G'night. lol

What distracts me more is the eye patch and parrot. :seeya:

All this discussion about the sex tape comment made by Travis...

I guess some don't see that the defense playing that edited version in closing REALLY could've stuck. I haven't seen so much discussion and peoples thoughts on it since it was played. Some of you may have had in the back of your minds for awhile here and are just now re thinking about it.
Well to be me it's clear that sex tape was a set up. I think he was just expressing how hot he thought she sounded. I don't think he actually meant a 12 yr old girl. It was a lapse in judgement that he added the age but then again he didn't know he was being recorded and it was going to be used against him to make him seem like a pedophile either.
I wish people could put this to rest the sex tape doesn't even matter! She murdered him over and over again. Taking his life wasn't enough now she's gotta take his reputation too and put that seed of doubt in jurors minds. When it has nothing to do with the crime at hand!

Jodi has a young sounding voice, more so in "that" phone call. Travis was stating the obvious to some extent. And yes, I feel like she was milking it and
Travis was calling her on it.

Jodi probably told him that was age 12 her first 'experience' and he was just trying to sound COOL and BAD for her -- doofus behavior, but not criminal.

End of day 2, no verdict. Day 3 works for me! ;)

Wow, the signs were there for me today! I got to work and a colleague came in carrying a cute blue Fossil bag with ELEPHANTS all over it. Then later I ran to the giftshop at the hospital where I work to stock up on chocolate (needed it today!) and in the process of wrestling to get money out of my wallet, I drop it, it hits a jewelry rack with bedazzled pins... and low and behold..what is knocked off?? An ELEPHANT pin!!! I was flabbergasted. It seriously gave me a chill up my spine and a grin on my face. Thought about those 2 ELEPHANT incidents all day. WEIRD!! But a GOOD weird.. :)

I caught that too. There was no car in front or in the driveway...I wondered if there was an alley behind Travis's house? Was that ever discussed? Where did she park the white car with no plates on the day she snuck up and murdered him?

It couldn't be too far away, since she had to tote all her murder tools, bloody clothes, overnight bag, etc. She then had to re-attach her license plate, and I don't think she would have done that in plain sight. Once the body was found, anybody that saw this strange car, with no license plate that was left unattended (almost deserted) would probably reported this to the police. (after the fact, of course)

No alley.

She used to park down the street, around the corner.

she is innocent. not everyone communicates in a manner that the general public can understand. almost any writer, including this one, will tell you that while it is second-nature to clearly express oneself in written word, it is absolutely petrifying and nearly impossible to express oneself in conversation.

perhaps those who do not believe her should actually read her book. and no, i haven't done so. but i can relate to her awkwardness and also, to many of those things others find so questionable about her behavior.

she is no jodi arias. the mere suggestion is ludicrous. imo.

I was obsessed with that case the first go 'round and I read everything I could get my hands on and I remember even researching the area and the people and the club scene and how it happened, etc and I didn't believe her. I changed my mind for an instant after she was released but after reading everything I could get my hands on again regarding the reasons she was released ... I believe she's guilty.

All murderers can't, don't and won't rise to the level of Arias. As Arias didn't rise to the level of Dahmer.

Hmmm. Except Dahmer did admit to his crimes, took responsibility, made no excuses and took the licks he had coming.

You know you're a scuzzy ball of navel lint when Jeffrey Dahmer was a better person than you are.

BBM

Not sure why, but I agree with you. Was hoping for a quick turnaround considering the mountain of evidence here, but didn't really see that happening. The murder 1 sentence could lead to putting someone to death. There may be some who need extra time to get there.

That said, I hope it's soon. The family deserves a measure of peace once and for all.

I thought the jury was specifically instructed not to think about life or death at this point, only focus on the charge. If they don't understand that, perhaps the judge should clarify this for them?

She never saved the start of the conversation. It was probably her fantasy !

Imagine what she's doing to those jurors. I think that hex thing she puts on people sucked in at least one of the jurors and the others are trying to do a Jodi Intervention. :floorlaugh:

Yes, I agree. I hope the other jurors can clear the fog that was forced onto the holdouts.

A couple of the jurors didn't have enough anti-fog spray on during the trial.

Quite a few of us have said there's things we know that that jury doesn't so I thought we'd start a list. Is there anything on this list yet that makes you think, if I didn't know that, I would be struggling to make a decision? Not yet for me....

What do we know that the jury doesn't?

Please cut and paste list - don't quote

old list

Deanna also said that JA was sitting on the sofa with his laptop!

Yup!!! Sure got my attention!!!
And Deanna drove an hour 1 way to check on naps because Travis was concerned nobody was taking responsibility to make sure naps was ok! So he had no clue jodi was there!!!!

There is forensic computer corroboration she told Detective Flores the truth on July 16, 2008, about arriving at TA's house around 4 am on June 4 and observing him watch several YouTube videos.

From the July 16, 2008 interrogation video [refer to the WS Transcripts thread]:

"10:12
JA: Travis stayed up all night waiting. He was watching something on You Tube, some stupid video. He’s like, “You gotta’ see this,” and I’m watching and I’m like, “This is so boring. What’s the point of that?” He’s like, “Just stupid, pointless stuff.” I’m like, “Okay.” I guess everyone’s got to have their time to veg out being so driven and deep as he is for business, which is fine that he watches stuff like that. It wasn’t anything profane or bad or vulgar, it was just people dancing, but they had like boxes of foil on their head. It was like weird, like robotic kind of music."

From trial testimony of Lonnie Dworkin, Computer Forensic Examiner, on January 31, 2013:

On June 4, 2008, at 4:08:11 am, TA's laptop computer (given to him as a gift from Deanna Reid so her name is on all the activity) the YouTube video Drunk - Daft Punk - Hard Bodies, Better, Faster, Stronger - was watched. Just as JA told Detective Flores nearly 5 years earlier. For me, it establishes that she indeed was in the house with Travis shortly after 4 am on June 4, 2008.

Beginning about 1:16:48 in the video of Day 12 of the trial:

Jodi Arias Trial Day 12 (Full) - YouTube

4:08:11 AM on June 4th: YouTube accessed

File was: Drunk - Daft Hands - Faster, Stronger, Better

4:11:04 AM June 4th, 2008: YouTube
Video: Daft hands....

4:13:15 youtube
... Faster Hands: 3:48 in time

He watched at least three nearly identical videos, but here is one. Note people dancing with foil boxes on their heads--just as JA told Detective Flores in the interrogation video:

Daft Bodies - Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger - YouTube

Who really knows? All JA had to do was peek at Travis' Internet history and click on the links to see what he had been doing. Forensics don't prove she wasn't in there.

After his May 26 emails/ texts, no way he knew or invited her or was waiting up. This only shows at some point she snooped into his computer, again. More self-serving lies. She will never admit she sneaked into his house.

They owe the public a careful review of all the evidence. This is their sacred public duty and they want to do a good job. It is for the best, since the length of deliberation cannot be used to infer jurors forming an opinion before deliberations. So it's all good.

After thinking it over, I think the most compelling argument Nurmi made in his closing is to question why Jodi waited to kill Travis. Why didn't she kill him while he slept, etc. Never before have I heard a defense which questioned the timing of a murder as having any connection to premeditation. This is creativity at its best in the legal profession -- creating a cause-and-effect where none existed. He suggests that if there were premeditation, she would have wanted to execute it immediately and be on her way. That is an assumption which has absolutely no support--in fact, there is plenty of reasonable assumption about what a first-time murderer would or would not do.

It is an interesting idea; however, to suggest that Jodi is innocent of premeditation because she "chickened out like a little *****." Those are the murderers own words. What is she talking about?

She must be talking about failing to execute something that she had planned to do, right? THAT MEANS PREMEDITATION!!! Of course she realized that she had erred in saying this to Det. Flores, so she decided to cover a multitude of mistakes with "the fog."

Some juries do not vote at all until they have reviewed all the evidence and discussed the elements. Speculating about there being disagreements, etc, is just the nervous projections of us trial watchers.

One can be a trial watcher and observe the wheels of justice turn, have sympathy for the families, etc, without IDENTIFYING with the process. You know you have identified when you have symptoms. This trial is not about the nation as a whole and our justice system--it is just one case among many. If there weren't photographs, we wouldn't be here at all. If there weren't sex plus religion, it wouldn't hold as much interest.

Partners have been butchered like this by their partners before and they went to Death Row enjoying a degree of anonymity. Jodi Arias was beautiful and inserted herself as a succubus in a religious community. How interesting is that?

How many of us have wondered as we are in church, is something going on between the pastor and the choir director? There is something in us that delights when the mighty fall. We love to read about someone who turns out to be a big fat hypocrite. Not deeply though, because we'll vote for them being that they are the common man(woman).

Truth is we are all hypocrites in some way or another, and those who set themselves above us as leaders often delight their followers when they fall.

I love your post and agree with you on most of it except I have a problem with the bolded part.

Since Nurmi said this, I've heard so many people changing their minds from premed to a lesser charge. I've heard lots of people say that Nurmi was brilliant to say this because it casts so much doubt over premed.

Why didn't Jodi kill Travis when she first arrived? Why not while watching videos at 4am? Why not while Travis slept?

I have 1 thing to say:

I hope to God that this jury is smart enough to remember that Travis did NOT live alone. I can't imagine anyone would consider murdering someone while there were other people in the house unless they were completely insane or planning on killing them too.

I do agree that it's GREAT defense tactic only as to confuse the jury. Like I said, I hope the jury is smarter than that and has some common sense.
