Agree. The hardest part for me, and I know many others because I had messages, texts, etc, was wondering why they didn't include certain evidence or call certain witnesses. When you have a case with so much evidence & so many witnesses, a big part of the process is to pare it down so it doesn't overwhelm a jury. You always have to come back to the original goal - a conviction. Best practice is to connect the dots as closely & directly as possible without unnecessary clutter.

Also agree that Mark's trial will be completely different. Completely. Some of the same witnesses, but with the addition of several more. More, and different, evidence. Will take on a way different tone. I dread it. I already feel like I need a shower just thinking about it. ugh

Exactly I agree. The bright side is that I don’t think the blood spatter discussions and bludgeoning talk will be very much of the MS trial. They don’t need to decide if a murder occurred and who or how it happened. The focus will be primarily on the conspiracy and planning, and after the fact. I think it helped all sides, including the state to have the trial severed.

I have preached from the rooftops about not reading too much into the jury reactions, questions, etc....but here I am doing it. LOL

It sounds to me like they are ready to take a vote on at least one of the charges.

They either HAVE a verdict and just want to make sure paperwork is correct.... or are debating between 2. I think its a good sign.

I think they all are wanting their own copy to go over all the separate definitions to see if they can each decide where they think the case was proved. I think that’s just the beginning if they aren’t all in agreement.

What sort of details do the final instructions to the jury include?

I am so glad they send back a copy of the instructions with the jury in FL. Don't do that in every state, not in my state. I think this should be the practice in every state. None of them can remember all that is included in the reading by the judge.

Oh mercy. Does anyone have the video of Judge Kyle reading them handy? Everything is included - legal definitions, etc.... VERY complex

It provides a definition of each one of the charges, each of the lesser charges, and what the state is required to prove occurred for each charge.
It defines reasonable doubt and helps the jurors rule out whether something doesn’t apply.

heh, I don't care but if I can make a suggestion to those copying tweets @Oregonmama @Emi - If both of y'all are copying, maybe each choose a different reporter(s). That way no duplicates and we get to hear from more than one?

Just an idea. I really don't care.

I'll get my nose out of y'all's business now. Carry on.

@Emi can do them and then we can switch over. this helps so other ppl can focus on stuff. For mark's trial we can all take turns tweeting because I really want to listen intently to that one

Guilty verdict within the next hour and a half.

But guilty of what? The jury instructions include about 7 different possible charges.
Murder 1- premeditated
Murder 1- felony not premeditated
Murder 2- out of passion
Murder 2- in defense
Manslaughter
Conspiracy to commit murder
Burglary while armed in a dwelling
Burglary while armed in a structure
Burglary unarmed in a dwelling
Burglary unarmed in a structure
Trespassing in a dwelling
Trespassing in a structure

It’s a long list for jurors to navigate, so I think it will take all day, and tomorrow maybe too.

Random impression -

This jury is working hard. They listened to that long readback and took a later lunch. Lunch was fast because wasn't long before they were asking for the copies of instructions.

Sounds like they elected a good foreman who is keeping them focused and on task.
