Victim "Peaches" IDd as Tanya Denise Jackson, and toddler IDd as Tatiana Marie Dykes, found Hempstead Lake State Park, June 1997 #4

Where were the Heuermanns?

" June 28, 1997"

"At the time, it was alleged that she had been killed three days prior to discovery."

I'm still not entirely convinced. The MO isn't the same if the victim profile is too different. If Tanya had never engaged in sex work and all of the other victims have, plus the additional features of her being murdered with her toddler which is something we don't see for any other victim, then I can see why other options must also be explored such as them being murdered by someone who knew them.

On the fence atm, hopefully LE knows a lot more than we do and knows more conclusively who her killer was.
We haven't received confirmation that she engaged in sex work or not. However, she was dismembered in the same fashion, during the same timeframe, and then dumped along the same stretch of highway. Her daughter was found 250 feet away from Valerie Mack, who had been dumped in the brush three years after Tanya and Tatiana's murders.

Bear in mind that the first victim, Sandra Costilla, told friends that she worked for a print company in Manhattan. It turned out that she had left that job one year prior to her disappearance. Sex workers often hide this kind of stuff from those who know them.

Basically, lets just wait and see.

If she was a military service member, shouldn't her DNA have already been in the system? She was discharged in 1995 and they had to start giving samples in 1990/1991 during the Persian Gulf War (which is the conflict she served in).
The military system and CODIS aren't the same system; you have to deliberately run comparisons. They're completely different databases. And what about Tanya would have suggested she might be found there? I certainly wasn't expecting her to be a veteran. What ink she had on her torso wasn't related to her service. If she did have some, it was probably on one of her limbs, which weren't found until after the GB4.

If this was RH, we know that he sometimes removed limbs in such a way as to separate identifying tattoos from the torso, along with head and hands.

He mentions that Tanya may have worked at a doctor's office, and a neighbour or friend may have watched Tatiana whilst Tanya worked. It's mostly been assumed that Peaches was a sex worker, but maybe she didn't work in that field at all.

How sad that a young woman and her toddler can disappear and nobody notices.

It does sound more like they may have been killed by someone who knew them (neighbour, Tanya's romantic interest, etc) rather than someone who preyed on SWers. But I don't think enough is known about Tanya's life around the time she was killed, she may have been doing survival SW.
there was a green rubbermaid tote that looked identical in the photos of Rex's house.

Welcome Home Tanya and Tatiana. Thank you for your service to your country and I am so very glad that you have recieved the honour that you so rightly deserve. Tatiana that beautiful smile I am so glad you are now back with your Mom and that Justice is coming for you both

Maybe he came across her randomly. A misdirection.

Maybe he presented as a decent family man. Offered her a ride. Maybe she had friends, other single moms who were SWs, unbeknownst or not. Maybe she accompanied one who met up with RH, like an errand. For payment, for Swork. As risks go, in a high risk field, it may have felt low risk. Maybe RH kept all three, discarding the SWer at a later date in an undiscovered location.

Somehow Tanya crossed RH's path, and either trusted him enough or had no other choice but to bring Tatiana along. Doesn't automatically mean she was engaged in SW. She could have been brought into RH's orbit by someone else, who was.

IMO the LISK is behind this.

I can't ignore the similarities.

Running against different databases is - should be - trivial to anyone with basic knowledge. To automate that process and have it done quite quickly would be similarly trivial to developers.

But there are most likely restrictions regarding accessing military data - an area where things could become more *effective*, perhaps.

Making a special case for serial killers and their victims might be nice.

In what circumstances would RH come in contact with her daughter? Was he in their apartment? Where did the container Tanya was found in come from? Where did the dismemberment take place?

What we don't know:
Officials aren’t ruling out a connection to the Gilgo Beach murder case, but sources that have spoken with FOX 5 NY's Jodi Goldberg say it’s unlikely, though they are looking into all possibilities

It's sounding like they may have not been killed by him.

I've been told that Nassau have been quote, unquote, "stubbornly" clinging onto the domestic angle. It doesn't seem as though they have a lot to go on, so I'd love to know why they think it's unlikely. Hopefully, it's not because of the victim's race and the fact that she had a child, because that would be an unwelcome throwback to the Spota "different MOs, different killers" days.

What is the likelihood of two killers operating in the same area with a similar MO? What percentage of homicide victims are dismembered? What difference would it make if the perp knew that the victim would not be reported missing?
I think it's a good point, that the commonality Tanya does share with other LISK victims is that she is someone whose distance from her relatives, including her daughter's father, would lead a predator to believe she wouldn't be missed.

She was relatively new to Brooklyn, had left her military service, and was trying to create a life for her and her daughter in a state where she probably knew few, if any, people.

And both using dismemberment as a tool to hinder the victim's identification. Many are dismembered for concealment purposes only, which is why all of their remains are found together.

Whoever killed that gorgeous baby was not just evil, but a coward and a master at rationalizing their own behavior. The killer lacked the courage to kill the child quickly, but it was June, so wrapping it in a blanket and placing it in a park where it might be found absolved the killer of all responsibility is my guess of the thinking. Of course because of the possibility of the evil one being seen, the baby had to be left in a location that most protected the killer and gave the child 0 chance of being discovered. Bottom of humanity evil.

That Tanya was a veteran with self-defense training seems important to me. The jewelry makes me ask was it their habit to wear it everyday or were they out for a special occasion?

There are too many similarities to the victims RH is charged with for me to rule him out. His size and age at the time would make it fairly easy for him to overpower most anyone I would think.

The report of him following another woman at a park just before he was arrested makes me wonder if Tanya had simply taken her daughter to a favorite park. When my son was that age, the park was a regular outing.

Again, for anyone to harm that gorgeous child . . .

Not so likely two freaks would place body parts that closely by chance.
Eh, dismemberment is a fairly common MO not specific to RH. Easy to prevent ID, easy to conceal and transport a body.
Did Tanya have a boyfriend back then? Was she involved in anything illegal, sexwork or the drug scene? Who did she associate with?
Glad you and your daughter got your names back.
