Wow, I'm surprised at how many think the sketch looks like him?! What? I'm not saying he's not involved ( or is for that matter ) but the sketch looks absolutely NOTHING like him IMO. I even tried to picture him as if he were "in shape" and I still don't see any similarities. The nose, ears, head shape ( not positive what it'd look like "inshape" ) and his lips, hair all seem completely different. I'll admit though that I'm probably the last person who would notice similarities though, haha ;-)

I'm interested to hear why they are similar? Somebody please help me understand :blushing:

Here, I'll put them closer together:

2008 mugshot 2003 sketch

Keep in mind, the sketch was made in April 2003, so that was 5 years ago.

I see things that look similar like the downturn of the lips and the closeness of the eyebrows to the eyes, but they eyes get me. Ecklind seems to have light blue eyes while the sketch seems to indicate dark eyes.

Who knows. If the DNA doesn't match, lucky for him and hopefully he's innocent of anything criminal.

First, you have to understand that sketches are never exact. However, this one is really very close and why we see the resemblance so clearly. The devil is in the details: The hair and the way it feathers onto his forehead. The eyebrows being low with the eyes deeper set. The width of the bridge of the nose is almost perfect. The lips are almost spot on and do have the downward turn. The curve of his jawline is oval. Granted, he looks much heavier now which will make it look different...but I think it looks like him. If he isn't the one...I will be very surprised.

Not that I'm a pro at this or anything,
If you ain't a pro you're pretty darn close IMO. LOL No problem you guys with them links. Filly, enjoys looking for links. She also is now speaking in the third person. LOL I thought the sketch was dead on as well. I have a friend who does that for a living. It's really interesting how they go about making the sketch. Keeping in mind that most of the time you have a very wounded victim. Usually mentally and emotionally wounded. They're not only artists, but they have to have compassion, and on and on. To me it's his hanging mouth gave it away. His mouth droops. He got that whatever ya call it hair growth going on now. Interestingly there's a Yolanda by that name in the same place who is a Doctor as well. Or claiming to be one. Maybe he's Yolanda? Naw, now I'm way out there.

Oh a big nod and kudos to "crimeshadows" for that sketch and mugshot. Thank you.

I think that the sketch resembles this guy.

There's a female Doctor at the same exact addy as this guy. I wonder if it's his wife? She has three other last names. One would be a maiden name. In fact it must be his wife because I saw his mom's obituary and it said she had three sons. Hmmmmmm, now what's this going to do to her Practice I wonder?

When will the DNA results be back?

The wallet belongs to Laquetta Gunther, the first victim in the killings.
Gunther's wallet was in the home of a close friend, Stacy Ditmer, who said the wallet contained several phone numbers of people she associated with, police said.
Investigators said they believe the same man killed Gunther and three other women execution style in the Daytona Beach area.
Recently, Daytona Police Chief Mike Chitwood asked for help in the search after his officers began taking DNA samples during some traffic stops.
Anyone with information concerning the deaths is urged to call a new serial killer hot line at 888-619-5734.

Me too, TM. We sure think alike. Guess we'll see if the good Doc's name is in that poor woman's wallet along with his number.

Police Try Billboards To Catch Serial Killer

POSTED: 6:48 pm EDT May 6, 2008
UPDATED: 7:20 pm EDT May 6, 2008

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Investigators working to solve the serial killings in Daytona Beach will do anything to catch the suspec -- even advertise for information about the killer.
A local billboard company has donated space on two electronic billboards, hoping to get clues for the unsolved murders.
View The Billboards
Daytona Beach police said they were happy about the signs because they keep the case in people's minds, when the fourth killing was nearly five months ago.
Three other women were shot dead in 2005 and 2006 and police don't want the public to forget their faces.
"Having a billboard up of that size kind of puts it right up there for somebody to look at," Steve Grant of the Daytona Beach police said. "Get the information and let them know that we're still out there working the case."
Lamar Outdoor Advertising donated space at the two locations and they say both are heavily travelled, with about 17,000-18,000 vehicles passing each site daily.
Drivers took note. One billboard site is on Mason Avenue, not far from where a killer likely picked up victims: women who lived and worked on the streets.
The other site is on Nova Road where a traffic light gives motorists a chance to look. The boards, front and center for several weeks now, are lighting up the phones again.
We've generated more leads," Tammy Pera of the Daytona Beach police said. "Tips have come in, we've had anonymous callers come in with some information that they normally probably wouldn't have come out with."
Investigators continue to collect DNA to be tested against the killer's. So far, there has been no match.
However, they said the case could just as easily crack on a passing glance.
"These things happen by citizens calling in, based on things they remember," Grant said.

FOX 35 NEWS
VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35, Orlando) -- Over the years, Daytona Beach detectives found four prostitutes murdered in the same area they say they found Dr. Jerrold Ecklind posing as a police officer, with loaded guns, even handcuffs in his car.

Ecklind was arrested last week after police say he pointed a gun at a man, kidnapped a known prostitute, and told them he was a police officer. Ecklind's lawyer said Monday that's not exactly what happened.

"He's adamantly denied that he is,” Mike Lambert said. “And he wants to get it out there that he's not because all the press that is out there."

Last week the woman Ecklind is accused of kidnapping said she got into Ecklind’s car and he made her handcuff herself.

That's when she said he drove her around for 45 minutes, explaining he was taking her to jail.

A 911 call by the man who was fighting with the woman helped police catch up with Ecklind.

Police found three loaded weapons belonging to Ecklind, one on his hip, and two in his car.

While Daytona Beach police won't comment on this case--Lambert said Ecklind has been cooperative with investigators.

He said police searched Ecklind's extravagant Ormond Beach home and found nothing.

Police are now waiting for the results of Ecklind's DNA test to see if it matches DNA left at the scenes of all four murders.

Ecklind's lawyer is confident this will exonerate the doctor.

No one from the Daytona Beach Police Department would comment on this case.

The sketch looks nearly dead on to me. The prominent features of the face, the whispy hair. If this guy isn't the killer, I'll be shocked.

They must have some good reason to suspect this guy aside from his resemblance to the suspect sketch. More than just him being a creep, too.

It is kind of rare, but certainly not unheard of, for someone with his background and education to be this type of serial killer. If he is the guy, watch him get popped for more than the Daytona Beach murders. If he isn't the guy, I wonder if he'll sue somebody in the future over this.

Well, he was caught with the woman in the car, fully armed and impersonating a police officer! It's a little jump from there to serial killer, but the sketch sure helps us to make that jump, doesn't it?

He looks so much like the sketch that I, like the previous poster, will be shocked if it is NOT him!

I wonder if there's a way to find out if there are mysterious unsolved murders in WV from 1992-1996. I'm not sure if all the other medical positions are FL or not....
It shouldn't be that hard. Btw, back when I first heard of the Daytona Serial Killer case (2006, iirc), I created a crime map. I have two, actually.

That I think of it, I may add this guy's residence & work location to see where he is geographically situated to the crime scenes. Whether (or not) he is involved in these cases, from my read, he definitely was up to no good.
