Thank you for all the information on Michelle's case, Dark Shadows, and also thank you for the link to the video they made with her essay. It is beautiful and brought tears to my eyes. What a beautiful soul she was. Her mother made me cry at the end.

Thank you again, for everything you do.

Rooney murder trial moved up

ST. ALBANS -- The murder trial of the suspect in October's abduction and killing of University of Vermont senior Michelle Gardner-Quinn could begin by the end of the year, lawyers told a judge Friday in an unexpected scheduling reversal that could move up proceedings by months.

The accelerated pace in the case against Brian Rooney, 37, of Richmond means critical pretrial matters will be dispatched in weeks. Defense lawyers said they will file a request to throw out the suspect's statements to police because authorities violated his rights during questioning, and the legal team also is considering a challenge to the admissibility of incriminating evidence. Candlelight Vigil Honors Michelle Gardner-Quinn

Burlington, Vermont - October 12, 2007
A year after violence shook the University of Vermont community, students and staff remembered the legacy of Michelle Gardner-Quinn. Dozens of people took part in a candlelight vigil, Friday night, to honor the 21-year-old whose life was cut tragically short.
"We are here tonight to complete the walk that Michelle didn't get to complete last year," UVM's assistant vice president for student and campus life, Annie Stevens, told the crowd gathered near City Hall.

Rutland, Vermont - May 22, 2008
The verdict is in: Brian Rooney is guilty.
Jurors deliberated for more than six hours trying to determine whether Rooney, 37, of Richmond, kidnapped, raped, and murdered UVM student Michelle Gardner-Quinn in 2006.
Just before 6:00 p.m. the jury convicted Rooney of aggravated murder.
That guilty verdict means life in prison without parole for Rooney. Vermont has no death penalty.
