Monday, Vermont State Police said they have preliminarily identified the dead man as Troy Ford, 35, of Highgate. Investigators say he lived with the family of his girlfriend, Erika Guttilla, 31. They say their investigation revealed that Guttilla shot and killed Ford several months ago at her family's home.
Police arrested Erika Guttilla's mother, Carmen Guttilla, 60, Sunday night. She's charged with aiding in the commission of a murder. She's due in court Monday.
A manhunt is now underway for Erika Guttilla and Corey Cassani, 28, of Highgate. Police say Cassani was also involved in the murder. They are believed to be in a red, 2013 Chevrolet Spark with Vermont license plates FHN 394. Erika Guttilla is white, 5-feet-6 inches tall, 120 lbs., with green eyes and blonde hair. Corey Cassani is a white man, 5-feet-9 inches tall, 165 lbs., with brown eyes and brown hair. Police say the couple should be considered armed and dangerous.
