And does anyone have a direct link to a story about how they weren't allowed to play with the kids of the LGBT neighbors? I can't find anything via Google.

This link says that the dad kept his Glock in a lockbox "and took it to work." Does anyone here know what he did for a living?

He was an engineer (software) if I’m not mistaken. And I don’t know for certain, but some of the “pets” were described to me as “meat”, as in “meat rabbits”, so take that for what it’s worth. ‍♀️ This is not a farm type property.

The 15-year-old accused in the brutal slaying of his parents and three of his younger siblings appeared in court for the first time on Friday, setting off a monthslong process that could eventually see him tried in adult court.

At the hearing, King County prosecutors requested what’s called a discretionary decline hearing, in which they would make the argument that the juvenile court should decline jurisdiction and have the case transferred to adult, or superior, court.

Judge Kristin Richardson ordered that the hearing be held on June 4. The boy will not enter a plea until after the court resolves the jurisdiction question.

CNN online October 25, 2024 update article by Alisha Ebrahimji entitled ‘An 11-year-old girl played dead before escaping after 5 family members were killed at their Washington state home’:

Some accounts within the story are chilling. The surviving sibling was shot twice IIUC and recognized the weapon used and the shooter, her brother. :( MOO

JMO, but we shouldn't be too quick to connect homeschooling with family annihilation. There are thousands of these families in America and this sort of mass murder by one of the kids is extremely rare.
You must have been reading my mind.

The article is paywalled for me, so I want to double check - the hearing on which court has jurisdiction (juvenile or adult court) won't be until JUNE???

The process for Minors under age 16 can take several months whereas older teens 16+ charged with violent crimes can automatically be charged as adults by the prosecutor per WA Statute. Next status hearing will be in January 2025.

The 15-year-old was put in touch with an attorney who told detectives he would not speak to them, according to the charging documents. He remains in King County’s youth jail at the Judge Patricia H. Clark Child and Family Justice Center.

In filing the charges, the prosecutors also filed a motion seeking a “discretionary decline hearing,” in which they would make the argument that the juvenile court should decline jurisdiction and have the suspect tried as an adult — a process that could take months.

While 16- and 17-year-olds charged with murder and certain other serious violent offenses can be automatically charged as adults, a discretionary decline hearing is required before younger teens can be charged in adult court.

If convicted as charged in adult court, the teen would be sentenced to a minimum of 25 years.

The next court hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday.

Let me preface this by saying, I am in no way victim blaming. But I have to wonder why you would give your 15 year old the code to the gun safe? Isn't that the entire point of having a gun safe?

Also I wonder about the kids not being able to play with the neighboring kids of the LGBT+ family. It's beginning to paint a... certain picture of the family dynamics.

I watched the clip that was posted before your comment but they didn't say anything about this. Can you please cite where you heard/read this? Thanks!

In a hospital interview with detectives later that day, the suspect's surviving sister said she identified the firearm used in the shooting as "her father's silver Glock handgun," court documents state.

She said her father kept the pistol in a small lockbox that "he would sometimes put by the front door so he could bring it to work," the documents read. She told detectives the suspect was "the only one who knew the combination to the Glock lockbox."

A police report obtained by DailyMail.com shows the teenager attempted to blame the murders on his 13-year-old brother <name of minor redacted>, claiming the younger sibling shot the family members and killed himself after being caught watching *advertiser censored* the previous evening.

There's often a bit of truth in the lies of a defendant. I'd say it was probably the shooter who was caught watching *advertiser censored* on Sunday evening, and not his younger brother. MOO
I am at least thankful that the memory of one of the innocent victims, <name of minor redacted>, has not been smeared. Because one of his sisters survived, she has been able to prove he was not the perpetrator.

Multiple teenagers in a family being homeschooled isn't a good sign to me. Wasn't there a similar story from Oklahoma a few years ago?

The surviving daughter is probably not old enough, or in a suitable mental state, to care for the animals.
You are probably thinking of the Bever family massacre in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. That was in 2015. Those children were also home-schooled, and I believe the parents were (also?) "very religious". But apparently/possibly quite abusive to their children.

It seems that if a troubled and murderous teenager goes to school, then the result is often a school shooting. If he/she is home-schooled, then it's a family massacre.

Actually the Bever brothers used knives - they had ordered tons of ammo online, but then decided they couldn't wait.

There has been nothing mentioned in any MSM to indicate this kid was isolated. Homeschooled doesn't mean locked away, it's just a different form of education. Most often, heavily involved in various co-op programs with loads of other homeschooled kids. At this time, we have zero reason to believe homeschooling had anything to do with what this kid did.
