The Bellingham Steam Plant John Doe had a burnt airline ticket that was found next to his remains. I ran a photograph of the remains of the ticket through both ChatGPT and Google Gemini's photo image analysis.

Here's ChatGPT's analysis: ChatGPT - Burnt Airline Ticket Analysis

Here's Google Gemini's analysis: ‎Gemini - Deciphering a Burned Airline Ticket

I just read an interesting blog post about different open source methods for photo analysis. Perhaps there are other methods to examine this ticket.

Thanks for this. I wonder if there are any pictures of Continental Airline tickets available online from that era. Seeing an example of what a non-burned one looked like might help decipher some of what's on this burned one.

Are those airport codes in upper left?

You can find photos of real tickets by searching "Continental Airlines vintage paper ticket 1980s" on eBay or "vintage airline ticket" on flickr.

This looks similar, it has the same baggage warning.

It seems like there was a baggage claim on top of the "Notice of Baggage Liability Options" Continental Airlines stub. Look at the portion in the circle and compare it to the previous photo.

This doesn't appear to be part of the Continental Airlines baggage claim. This looks like from something stapled on. "CRADLE" or "ENABLE" maybe?

There has been significant progress recently in reading the charred scrolls from Herculaneum. A combination of x-rays and AI has been used to get right through to the centre of the scrolls so it's very possible that this or something similar could be used to bring out currently unreadable details on the air ticket/baggage claim document.

I’m getting CHANGE or CHARGE

I think it is just the words “CONTINENTAL AIRLINES”.
Yes, on the upper left it does say Continental Airlines. I was referring to upper right portion zoom in that @RobbyDel posted. Thank you.

Looks like CHAR 77, maybe Charlotte (NC) and a partial flight #.

In the small boxes it says "Carrier" and "Flight". The larger letters say Contintental Airlines.

Oh y'all are talking about the text above that, I didn't even see that!

Is there a list of all cities Continental flew to in the 80s? Information seems scattered online but I don't see anything for Charlotte. Continental also used to fly to Charles de Gaulle.

The potential match i submitted last month has been added to this Doe’s exclusions list. Unfortunately they have not added the other exclusions that are listed in the FOIA files.
Coming up on 38 years this month.

Did tell you HOW they made the exclusion? I know they both have dental records of some kind, but I'm curious if they've developed a DNA profile.

I think it has to be dentals. Heat destroys DNA, I'd be very surprised if they managed to get a profile off of this Doe.
