Records document mall shooting suspect’s tormented past

Cetin witnessed his mother being beaten by her father and brothers daily; he also allegedly was abused by the men, who even chased him with knives

Cetin suffered from an injury at birth that affects his ability to move an arm and caused one arm to be significantly shorter than the other. He was run over by a bus when he was 6, which broke his pelvis and left him unable to walk for months.

According to mental health records he's been diagnosed with:

post traumatic stress disorder
attention deficit disorder
autism
depression
fetal alcohol syndrome
intermittent explosive disorder
disruptive disorder
several substance abuse disorders

Cetin has seen at least four mental health treatment providers in his life and was involuntarily committed to a psychiatric hospital in November 2015 after a suicide attempt. He was being treated with three different psychiatric drugs as of last year.

Wish I knew what I could mention from local gossip.

You can discuss your opinion of things you've heard as long as your opinion can be supported by MSM. For instance, you could state it is your opinion that the suspect has always had a fascination with guns since always is a relative term and articles in MSM disclosed the suspect had been frequenting gun shops. Just say clearly it is your opinion.

From charging documents Witness id see him in parking lot pull out weapon reason why he went outide was to move his car closer to the enternace close to the cosmetics counter at MacysThe way he behaved IMO only, sounds like they were specifically targeted.

Went into find out where they were in Macys moved his car closest to that enternace of the store near the dept they were in. He fired once in the clotheing isle where she was THEN walked directly to the cosmetic dept for the others. He had a lot of of LE encounters , one lady was a probation officer??

Worked at a gym Father described him as clsoer to his mother Father and him had a falling out recently They went to dinner 430, he said he had to work and left https://www.scribd.com/document/325384848/Arcan-Cetin-charging-documents

It seems like beating a mother is often a factor in these mass shooters,

With all if these diagnoses, it is amazing he functioned at all.

What a mess.

Sadly, I have to say, I think the list is more reflective of the fact that we get the diagnosis wrong depending on how the person, parents (and situation that resulted in the intial reaching out for services). In that system I doubt he would have a consistent provider.

Its so stupid but we have to come up with a diagnosis in 45 minutes to get paid. You can always go back and revise yours, making this up but like this:

but I would think that when he was ordered to therapy for assulating his father, intermittent explosive disorder might make sense

he goes for a few sessions, and for whatever reason he gets assigned a different therapist. Start over basically, gender of therpist and pt are huge as well as style.

So lets say he feels more comforable with next therapist and reveals dad is beating his mom up. PTSD would come into focus. While talking about this he is flat and sounding hopeless - depression diagnosis would come in. He completes number of a sessions (once a month is a total farce- we are people too! Very rarely was it ever about what the pt was saying -- it was about what the pt was not saying! Nuance is key.

So hypothetically, 4 weeks ago, from 45 minutes with someone, WE really have any continuity?

HE starts again two months later cause he was disrupting class so that clinician works on that angle.

No other provider can alter a colleague - so in the chart, they pile up, and then when the media see it they clump em all and put them all out there.

Which IMO messes main stream american society as far as mental illiness goes.Like to do something like this you have ALL this mental stuff going on.

Better said - Roger Elliot-the conculsion was he was just evil. He had aspergers - there is a difference! Not justifying. So becasue a whole bunch of diagnosis were not all thrown in the media the conclsuion was he was just evil.

If you will notice, he had parents with money - so possibly he only saw one provider -if that makes sense

Basically IMO, resulting in seeing pretty much what we see on some threads here moo. Oh he /she was not mental, they are just trying to use that as an excuse.

Its also like intermittent explosive disorder is actually a symptom of autism (temper tantums). Disruptive disorder is a throw a way!

I guess what I am thinking is the proper way to have said

mental health records he's been diagnosed with:

moo

to something more akin to, several clincians were attempting to determine if suffered from one or two of the following disorders............................

Cascade Mall shooting video released in Arcan Cetin case

Video of the Cascade Mall shooting -- one in which police said shooter Arcan Cetin killed five random victims in the rural mall about an hour and 20 minutes north of downtown Seattle -- was released Friday by the Washington State Patrol.

Video of the Sept. 23, 2016, shooting was released after public disclosure requests by multiple news outlets. It shows how the shooter selected his victims, and is a key piece of evidence in the case against Cetin.

If you don't want to watch, this article gives a good breakdown of the videos:

Video released of Burlington mall shooting

The 14 clips of video were released late Friday by Skagit County in response to a public records request. KOMO News is one of the media organizations that obtained the video. KOMO will not show the extremely graphic portions of the video but is airing online and on television a brief video a clip that shows the shooter going into the mall holding a weapon.

Hi CARIIS,
That son of a gun looked like he knew exactly what he was doing, not smashing up things, not lingering and waiting, but chasing people down like they were moving targets.
He also knew to get the heck out of there quickly. He may have had mental problems, but he comes across like a cold nasty coward, imo, speculation.

Hi DOtr!

You know what just hit me when you worded it that one way or the other he had some mental issues. We have coming in check out something FIRST?

Do doesn't that make it that in his mind he found them, Cause he went back to car car moved it closer to door and comes back in.

So I agree with you that context - so why have they not been able to connect at least some dots in terms of why those people?

and the girlfriend who worked at one Macys maybe in his mind he was going to get her but it was not her so it makes no sense

You are right tho he passed a lot of people, and most mass shooters just start firing away.

So what earth is the connection but then you have a kid that has had a lot of interactions with the system so that takes me to the probation officer. She was not his but maybe seeing her a lot or something trigger his issues with probation officers (female ones?)

AMC Loews ‘may have been a planned target' for Cascade Mall shooting, police say

http://www.king5.com/news/local/amc...or-cascade-mall-shooting-police-say/355181940

Documents released Tuesday by the Skagit County Prosecutor’s Office reveal the man suspected of killing five people in the Macy’s store at the Cascade Mall asked a gun shop employee about how to avoid background checks while attempting to purchase a gun the day of the shooting.

he did not fully load the magazine.

......... he did not know why he did not completely load the weapon,

... told investigators he knew the difference between right and wrong and that “... he didn’t know why or how he decided it was time to leave his apartment to go to the mall. This isn’t something that he had been thinking about doing for awhile. He said at the time he took the gun from his parents’ house he didn’t have plans to go shoot or kill somebody.”

However, when asked if he could be labeled a “murderer,” Cetin allegedly agreed, according to the documents.

.. telling an ex-girlfriend that he wanted to shoot people in the face when they made him angry.

may not have been taking his medications properly.

The documents also state that, while Cetin apparently purchased a ticket to watch the movie “Snowden” a half hour before the shooting, instead of entering the theater that was showing that movie, he instead entered a neighboring theater three times.

Anderson says she came face-to-face with Cetin as she tried to walk out the same door where the cellphone was discovered minutes before. She says Cetin was locked out and when she opened the door he seemed frantic.
“He was going like this with his foot, just so nervous, just moving that foot like crazy. He stood right in front of me and he said, 'I got to get my phone' I got to get my phone.' I said, well, let me out,” Anderson said.
Anderson added that she and her husband talked about the stranger’s odd behavior but believed at the time he was just trying to sneak in to watch a movie.
