Apparently Rachel tried to delay the NAACP executive meeting unilaterally, without the Committee's input or approval. The Committee rebuffed her move and will meet tomorrow as scheduled.

Rachel is toast.

According to the Washington state dept of licensing, RD does not have a license as a barber, cosmetologist, esthetician, nor manicurist.

She does have 9 entries for municipal, district court cases listing her as a defendant (presumably for traffic tickets). The most recent being 6/1/15 in Whitman county (near Pullman where her brother/son might be attending school).

Since August 2011 tickets began in Washington state. 3 of them within 1 month 2011. 1 in 2012, 3 in 2014, 2 this year

Makes sense since U of I is in Moscow, ID which is 9 miles away from Pullman, Wa (WSU)

It appears RD overstepped her boundaries by trying to cancel the NAACP meeting tomorrow night. She is being called out by the Executive Committee Chair stating she does not have authority to cancel or postpone the meeting as it is a fixed date 3rd Monday of each month.

So, for ppl only braiding 'ethnic' hair, most states do not require a license.
Interesting. And interesting article in madamenoire too. Not intending to question or refute above post, just digging for def's in WA statutes (which I may be misinterpreting).

Short comment - based on info below, I wonder if St. of WA does require licensing for braiding, which would seem to involve 'arranging, dressing, styling, etc. under both 'old' law and 'new' law.

If she does any of the following in bold, seems those services might (would?) req. cosmetology license, but I have not searched statutes for exemptions that may be lurking in other sections. JM2cts and could be all wrong.

Regarding the comments on the petition see number 70 written by the person who delivered the Omsbudsman application to RD, supported her NAACP appointment, and also wrote an email listed on the KXLY site (JP) who calls RD "vain and narcissistic" in the comments on the petition. He describes himself as half Thai and half white and he doesn't feel welcome by RD at meetings.

Hopefully it's another embellishment and she thinks she's mentoring some young black girls while they think that they're getting their hair done with the woman who's a bit weird and talks too much but does it cheaper than regular salons.

Rachel was familiar with North Idaho’s white supremacist reputation, but hoped hate crimes wouldn’t happen to her. Last spring, three Neo-Nazis came to the HREI building and verbally harassed her about her biracial identity and school programs. Later her home was burglarized. One morning, she found a noose on her porch and recently a swastika sticker was stuck on the HREI’s front door.

Note biracial identity... and if there's a sticker where she volunteers, it's a hate crime happening to HER.
