Oops, she canceled the meeting for today.

http://news.yahoo.com/spokane-naacp-head-under-pressure-over-racial-identity-071936601.html

''Rachel Dolezal canceled a chapter meeting Monday where she was expected to speak about the furor sparked over her racial identity. But other members of the organization said they still planned to gather Monday evening.

Dolezal sent out an email Sunday canceling the monthly membership meeting "due to the need to continue discussion with regional and national NAACP leaders."'''

ETA, I see above this was posted and it's interesting she has no authority to cancel but she's the president. I bet she's not the president after today. She's too ashamed to show up. Did she really think this could go on forever and no one would know? She has no plan b for when the truth comes out.

Spokane police suspend all cases involving Dolezal

The Spokane Police department confirmed late Friday its suspending all investigations involving Rachel Dolezal, including the investigation into hate mail that showed up in the post office box of Spokane's NAACP. The department says there are no new leads to follow in any of the cases.

Will they tack on filing false reports and charge her? This girl has so much trouble ahead.

Yes, a huge diverse crowd. Seems like a nice community.

Well the event has happened and continues to occur. She is Spokane president of the NAACP yet she has lied about being black and the experiences and history being black in America entails.

Wow! I've never heard of her! Oh yeah. Apt comparison to me. Also like those people who pretend to be kids and go to high school wen they're actually in their 30's or whatever.

Its all creepy to me.

Yeah I don't believe in the concept of "victim culture". There is not an entire culture based on wanting to be treated as a victim. That's racist.

There is a doc on Netflix-its called The Woman Who Wasn't There

Yes, you stand in a booth nekkid and are sprayed all over your body from head to toe. You can pick the level of darkness you prefer.

There have to be cosmetologists out there who have been making a living from keeping RD "tanned". I realize you can construct a do-it-yourself tanning booth, but how do you do your back? The butt crack? Your ribs just beyond your armpits?

Even the costs of tanning stuff would be prohibitive! Is this another Jodi who finds money from "nowhere" to spend on expensive beauty products and services?

Whoever helped her with the transformation process had to have known....

It's also quite interesting to me that RD didn't pick a darker shade. On "Toddlers and Tiaras" there is a whole range of shades that white white skin can be colored, including much darker than RD's choice.

Another bio

http://www.thefigtree.org/dec09/120109hreicda.html

“I come from an eclectic household with African-American, Native American, German, Czech, Swedish, Jewish and Arabic heritages and culture,” said Rachel, whose father hunted for meat with a bow and arrow and was a county commissioner who brought loggers, miners and environmentalists together.

Wow! Next she'll be a direct descendant of Cleopatra. Lol

ciao

RD reportedly grew up in Montana, taught school in Idaho, and moved to less than 2% AA Spokane. Sounds like someone choosing to live her life as personally unaffected by contact with the black underclass as possible imo.

I couldn't find the petition comments in their entirety. Is there another link?

I think your device determines what the page loads. Signers' comments don't come up on my phone but do on my Kindle.

  • #448
Regarding the comments on the petition see number 70 written by the person who delivered the Omsbudsman application to RD, supported her NAACP appointment, and also wrote an email listed on the KXLY site (JP) who calls RD "vain and narcissistic" in the comments on the petition. He describes himself as half Thai and half white and he doesn't feel welcome by RD at meetings.

Do you think they turned the comments section off.I can't see them anywhere?

BBM, You just made me wonder and not sure if it's been answered, does the Pres of NAACP chapters get a salary of any kind? tia

It might have been easier for her to avoid detection and to advance to prominent political positions if she's one of the few AA people surrounded by Caucasians instead of just one fake person in a more authentic black crowd.

Also, if she lived in a more racially diverse town it would be more suspicious if she's the only one being subjected to hate crimes ever so often and her darker neighbors haven't reported any.

JMO.

My feelings exactly. She reports various hates crimes pretty regularly. It might be advantageous to her for several reasons to live in primarily white cities.

I knew fundie Christians who attended Passover Seder at a Messianic Jewish temple. It was an open event, and well-attended in our community.

Messianic Jews are Christians who adhere to many Jewish traditions. Maybe the Dolezals are part of this sect?

They aren't. They simply seem to claim Jewish traditions based on their fundamentalist interpretations of the Bible.

There is a huge difference between that and Rachel's claim to be black. Her parents don't pretend they are Jewish or use their beliefs to claim victimhood as Jews. They've incorporated Jewish traditions into a faith system they've believed in and lived by for over 40 years, since they were teenagers.

“I come from an eclectic household with African-American, Native American, German, Czech, Swedish, Jewish and Arabic heritages and culture,” said Rachel, whose father hunted for meat with a bow and arrow and was a county commissioner who brought loggers, miners and environmentalists together.

I think this actually could be mostly true, at least technically, if you think of this as the backgrounds of her whole family, including the adopted siblings, and overlook the way she somewhat misleadingly mentioned African-American and Native American heritage first as if they were the most important parts of her own ethnic background instead of the mostly Czech, German and Swedish background the parents described. The parents said she also had trace amounts of Native American heritage, and one or more of the adopted siblings might have Jewish and Arabic background.

And she says "heritages and culture" so it could refer to both DNA and adopted cultural traditions.

I don't recall if it was reported that Larry Dolezal hunted with bow and arrows but if he used to live in a teepee in Montana it sounds to me like it's not a hobby that is totally out of the question. The parents only said that Rachel didn't have to hunt for her own food. And the parents agreed that he was formerly a county commissioner.

My husband is second generation Irish. We did the DNA test last year to find out what disease he is genetically predisposed to and also his genetics. He was 99% Irish and 1% Sub Saharan African. I assumed that everyone has that in their DNA but when I got my results....no Sub Saharan listed! We had a good laugh about this as did his red headed freckled family!

EWU student's 2014 senior thesis was based on her interviews of RD.

5 short RD videos: http://www.colorlines.com/articles/...w-interview-videos-will-absolutely-baffle-you

OMG. Of all the unmitigated gall! From the link:'

"[Dolezal] also points out the frustration with having to be a voice for an entire race of people"

Has this role of being the voice for "an entire race of people" been thrust upon her? She didn't want that role? She finds it frustrating? Who appointed her to that role? OMG OMG. I'm dyin' here.

Dolezal said she received a key to the post office box when she became president of the NAACP earlier this year. Asked about the possibility that she had put the package there herself, she said, “That’s such ********. What mother would terrorize her own children?”

She said she was not questioned about that possibility by police and was bothered by initial media reports about the package. “Nobody’s ever come out and said (they suspect me) directly, but I am bothered by the subtle implication,” she said.
http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2015/jun/12/naacp-presidents-claims-about-background-disputed/

I am wondering if this is another technically true lie... I mean, about no mother terrorizing her own children. Supposing she manufactured the hate crimes, who's to say it means that she terrorized her own children?

If her kids are in on her racial deception, and I honestly can't see how they could avoid knowing, having known her and lived with her and interacted with her white family before she became black, they might be in on the hate crimes as well. There'd be no reason for them to be particularly scared of the KKK because mom sent herself some scary letters. Heck, one of the kids might have posted them (in some video interview Rachel said something about one letter being put in the mailbox and one being posted from Oakland and the person couldn't be in two places at the same time).

This is not meant to blame the children in anyway, I'm just noticing that the reason she gives is that she must be innocent because she wouldn't terrorize her own kids. But the reasoning presumes that they'd be terrorized, and it's not necessarily true if they know.

Her ex-husband knew she was white. When they married she still had straight long blond hair. If you are talking about the video, it was posted by some guy infatuated with her, not her ex-husband.

I knew the ex-husband knew she was white, but I didn't realize she was never in a relationship with the video guy, thanks.

According to DM they were engaged for a few months but it was not reported how much time they spent together or why they broke up. None of our business I guess but I'd love to hear his comments.

Because real black people can't speak for themselves.

The fourth video is the shortest, at just under two minutes. In it, Dolezal says, “I know who I am, and my kids know who I am, and pretty much I don’t think anybody else really knows.”

Maybe they help her with her fake tan :P

Dolezal also says that when she was first featured in newspaper coverage in 2005 after joining the Human Rights Education Institute in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, she was described “as being from a transracial family.” She says that after she was targeted for hate crimes (investigations into these incidents have been suspended, by the way), Dolezal says she was described “as a biracial woman.” She then says that after another supposed hate crime, the Miami Herald and The Chicago Tribune described her as “a dark skin black woman,” noting that as the hate crimes increased against her, the “darker [her] complexion became in the public’s eyes.” Archive searches of both newspapers, however, do not reveal any articles published about Dolezal until a few days ago, when news of her deception made national headlines. A 2010 New York Times article about the tea party (not about suppsed hate cimes), does mention that Dolezal is "multiracial." In the second video, Dolezal concludes that “the audience … is reframing [her] identity”

Preventive measures... she's googled herself and found out there are online traces of how her story and appearance changed, so she needed to find ways to blame other people for it.

Noteworthy that the Chicago Tribune and the Miami Herald are probably news outlets that Washington locals are unlikely to read regularly. (Yet sound more impressive than some nameless minor newspaper in a Dakota small town.)

She also bemoans the fact that white people “are allowed to do everything,” citing Eminem as an appropriator or blackness:

Eminem is an appropriator of blackness and that's bad? Irony, anyone?

You couldn't make this up if you tried.

She also says her son was threatened with assassination in his future, which she then uses as an opportunity to market her licensed diversity training services.

This is probably true, didn't she basically threaten him with murder in one of her Inlander blogs? She wrote something to the effect that it was nearly inevitable that black sons would get killed some day.
