No, but others are, for example FoxNews & CNN

Fox isn't praising him? I don't believe it. That would be a first.

He's not responsible but everyone after him is? If this wackjob wasn't commuted he would have been jail today! And not out on the streets to kill these officers.

Here is Huckabee's response

"Huckabee released this statement in response to the killings.

"The senseless and savage execution of police officers in Washington State has saddened the nation, and early reports indicate that a person of interest is a repeat offender who once lived in Arkansas and was wanted on outstanding warrants here and Washington State. The murder of any individual is a profound tragedy, but the murder of a police officer is the worst of all murders in that it is an assault on every citizen and the laws we live within.

Should he be found to be responsible for this horrible tragedy, it will be the result of a series of failures in the criminal justice system in both Arkansas and Washington State. He was recommended for and received a commutation of his original sentence from 1990. This commutation making him parole eligible and was paroled by the parole board once they determined he met the conditions at that time. He was arrested later for parole violation and taken back to prison to serve his full term, but prosecutors dropped the charges that would have held him. It appears that he has continued to have a string of criminal and psychotic behavior but was not kept incarcerated by either state. This is a horrible and tragic event and if found and convicted the offender should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Our thoughts and prayers are and should be with the families of those honorable, brave, and heroic police officers."

LOL, not one word about commuting his sentence? Well he must think that no one will find out. Shh, lets not tell him any different! Then come election time it will be time to talk about it again!

This guy was known to be not just a criminal, but a dangerous criminal when he released him. But he just had to release him, and other people have been paying for his decision ever since.

I'm not feeling a lot of "ownership" in Huckabee's response. It will be interesting to see how much Fox covers this aspect of the story.

Yep, it sure sounds like Huckabee is blaming everyone else but not a peep about his own role in this guy being out on the street.
:furious:

He's injured, so I am praying he is in too bad a shape to put up a fight.

SEATTLE -- Police searching for the person of interest in the Lakewood police shooting have surrounded a home in the city's Leschi neighborhood.

That is pretty recent news Searchfortruth, I just listened to Northwest Cable News and they aren't putting that out yet.

Do we know for sure Huckabee commuted him? Hard to imagine. Thank God we all make mistakes in life, although this was a very serious one. I also sensed some ownership of guilt in what he said. xox

Yes, I think this Seattle search began around 8:45 pm. Hopefully, they get this guy without one more police officer being hurt.

I am pretty sure I read that Huckabee did commute this guy's sentence...I believe he cited age at the time of the crime or conviction (he was 17).

From what I have read, he was convicted when he was 17 for burglary?robbery --served time and given clemency by Huckabee due to age at conviction. He then went on to commit other crimes and went back to prison..eventually out on parole. And then he had the charges pending on the latest spree............

I think Huckabee regrets some of his prison clemencies from his time as Gov. and has said so......

But this was failure on many parts of the system.......repeatedly! We need to be tougher on criminals period.

Huckabee's might be regretting it? Oh I guess it makes it all better. By the way, he's granted clemency to many people- I guess he didn't get the memo republicans are supposed to be "tough on crime."
"During his years as governor, Huckabee granted clemency an average of about once every four days. Huckabee's successor, Mike Beebe, has issued 40 so far this year, fewer than one a week. Bill Clinton, Frank White and Tucker granted 507 clemencies in the 17 1/2 years they served as governor."

This is one of the saddest things I've heard in a long time. These men and women risk their lives EVERY day to protect people..and then they get murdered by some insane idiot??

My thoughts, prayers, and support go out to the families of the slain officers today. May God be with their family and friends during this unbelievably tough time.

I didn't say it made it better. Would that guy have been out on parole anyway if he had not gotten clemency? He granted this for too many people but he wasn't the only one now was he? Nice jump on the blame Republicans by the way.....

From what I read, Huckabee commuted this guy's 95 year sentence.
