WA - Hikers find body of woman and child suspicious, Olympia

OLYMPIA, Wash. — Thurston County deputies said they’re working to confirm the identities of a woman and child whose bodies were found by hikers Tuesday evening on an old logging road in the 5700 block of Puget Beach Drive NE near Lacey.

Detectives called the deaths suspicious and said all signs point to homicide. Investigators do not believe the two people were killed in a murder-suicide.

Tragic, I know that Olympia has a very large homeless population That area is a rather large block of regenerating young forest that was previously logged. I have to wonder if we're dealing with a homeless family. Also seems like they may have been dumped there.

No, it was not the husband of the woman nor the father of the child that has been arrested.

Officials believe Denham knew the 34-year-old mother and her child, but he is not the father of the child. Denham, who has a criminal history, should be in Thurston County court Friday to face two counts of first-degree murder.
