I think a lot of skeletons came tumbling out of the closet. :worms:
Oooh, right. I forgot about his previous issues! Thanks for the reminder!

The thing is, according to msm dad's job situation was no different prior to Jenise's murder. I feel for these parents who have lost a precious daughter but I don't understand why they are putting a less than honest spin on their circumstances.

Or maybe I do.

Yep, from all who know them personally, that is exactly accurate. I had to sit on my hands SO much when the search for Jenise was active, and then when GG was arrested. Actually, I'm still sitting on hands in some ways. Ugh.

I don't feel this way in every case because I know things can happen fast, but i can't get past them letting her run the neighborhood with no supervision. GG is evil and it would have eventually surfaced, but they might as well have gift wrapped her and left her on his porch.

Many good parents have had their children abducted and murdered, we know that happens. I agree MzOpinion8d, the lack of parental supervision in this case, just magnified the tragedy for me.

The "if only's" are haunting for us. I imagine the parents are still dealing with that on a daily basis.

O/T Having read the article, the 14 year old is beyond comprehension. How can someone be so screwed up by 14?

I remember foxfire mentioning that this type of behavior can occur as early as 14 in serial killers.

Doesn't shock me. Raised in the "right" environment, a child can quickly become violent.

(Just a couple days ago a 15 year old was arrested up here for attempted sexual assaults (preying on skiiers):

I'll never forget those pictures at the vigil...so creepy...he looked so "normal"...

An excellent example of the perps attending the vigil.

On the flip side, sometimes they are violent without any known violence in their families...

But agreed, a violent environment....which speaking of, with all these violent video games and movies, I don't think that helps things any at all. Jmo

I believe it is VERY rare for a child to become violent without having experienced it themselves. I would be interested in examples of people coming from non violent families turning into murderers, though, if you have examples. I'm curious.

Macho aggressive attitude about ''killing opponent'' comes to mind in comments he's made about wrestling. Fine line between top notch competition and desire to hurt another person. His coach had interesting comments about his attitude on the mat.

Yes, but this doesn't prove he wasn't physically abused at home. Where did his wrestling violence come from? To me, it shows even more evidence that he had aggression in all areas of his life.

I recall that GG had a brain injury. TBI can cause violence in people. That could be the cause. I still think he was maltreated (NOT an excuse, just speculations on how a sweet baby can become a monster). I wonder if there were noticeable differences in his behavior -on or off the mat- after the brain injury...

You are absolutely correct. The abuse could have easily come from older sib as well or other older extended family members.
In some families male aggression is ''socialized acceptable'' behavior -- don't know if this was case here but just throwing it in the ring as a possibility.

Good point on the older sibling or other family member. It's just so unknown. But violence usually perpetuates itself.
There are some videos of GG and his older brother floating around that speak to sexual incest and violence against women...more in the "humor" context, but to me those subjects are never funny...

I heard a clip of Ted Bundy speaking to James Dobson the day before he was executed. He said in the interview that he had a great family who didn't mistreat him. I don't know much else about Bundy, though, so he could have been lying.

It was on a podcast called Sword and Scale, their first or second episode, about psychopaths in general. It was very interesting - also had clips from a man who has the same brain patterns as a psychopath but not the behaviors. He's a PhD and did research with MRIs and had one himself as part of the "control" group only to discover his patterns matched the psychopaths!!

I think you're correct in saying most offenders have a history of violence somewhere along the line, though.

Interesting! Thanks for posting, Mz! I'm going to delve into Bundy GoogleResearch tonight! I remember reading he started out abusing animals as a kid, so maybe connected to wiring???
