So sad to wake up and see that Jenise is still missing :(

Very good point. No Amber Alert. :(

Amber Alert requires the description of a suspect vehicle. Unfortunately we don't have that.

I don't think anyone will disagree that *morally* things are a lot different now than they were then. Pretty much every professional in the field of abuse prevention/child protection advocacy (as well as many other fields) keep warning us as parents about the sexually exploited/sex-saturated culture we now live in, and how to protect our kids from that. That was certainly not an issue 40 years ago.

I hate to derail this thread by continuing to discuss this - but sexual abuse of children was as rampant 100 years ago as it is today - and most of it was kept hidden. Children weren't encouraged to speak out, because it was shameful. Reading through nonfiction accounts of life in the 1900's - WWII in rural America would shock those who aren't familiar with the abuses children suffered and were made to keep silent. It's better now. I grew up 40 years ago, and let me tell you, there is no way on God's green earth male teachers would get away with now what they did then to middle school girls and we all just tried our best to avoid them.

The height reported on this child has to be incorrect. A 6 year old that is 36 inches has fallen way off the growth chart and needs immediate attention by a medical professional.

It almost looks as if they are reversing her height and weight. Apparently 36 pounds and 45" is within normal range for a girl of 6 years. I also wondered if her Filipino heritage might affect her size.

So has it been stated about what time the family got up in the morning? If they got up around 11 a.m. and then noticed Jenise was missing, I'd think the noon-4 sightings might be correct.

If they got up around 8, and she was missing, that casts a different light on the noon-4 sightings if there are NO sightings before noon. If it can be shown that it's likely she didn't leave the house until 11 ish or so, and everyone was still sawing logs in bed in the trailer all morning, it seems much more likely noon-4 sightings could be true. I can't imagine, though, if she was out between 8 - noon there would be NO ONE who interacted with her.

The only report I saw was the Family stated the last time Jenise was seen was 10p.m. Saturday when she went to bed. It doesn't sound like anyone was up Sunday a.m. when Jenise left. At least the Parents it appears.

"the younger of his accusers said she had reported the incident to her mother who told her she would 'get a spanking' if she spoke of the incident again."

"But Wright's attorney argued in court records that the young girl later told relatives she had been prompted to lie about the incident."

Many times charges are dropped/withdrawn when the evidence does not support the charge.
That was over a decade ago, if it indeed happen. Unless something new comes to light (trying to think positive) it is irrelevant. Especially since he was never convicted of any such crime.

At the same time I do wonder if this baby girl is no longer with us. Did something happen and they panic and buried her somewhere. UGH! I have a 9 and a 3 year old and they are not allowed in anyone's home unless I am with them. I trust no one besides my parents with my boys. Yes, i am THAT crazy woman :-)

I am the same. No sleepovers unless it's at my sister's house. No camping trips with boy scouts unless I go too. I just can't handle it!

I too think they reversed the height and weight by mistake. It would make much more sense.

Thread 2 and we still have no idea what time her family got up that morning, if both parents were home or any other answers.

I really, really wish we had a member here who lives in that MHP.

I hear ya. Sadly. And I do question the "why" of it.

You are, both, in good company.
I don't find the world "safe", or, at least safe enough for kids to wander around with no adult supervision. My kids are now "adults" (yeah, right!) and still check in with me (by texts) regularly.
So, while I may be considered overbearing or overprotective...so be it. My mind is at ease.

Heck at this point we don't even know if Jenise got up and wandered about in the night. From earlier reports she was seen wandering after dark. It seems she may not be afraid of being out in the dark. The timeline sucks!!!!

I am not sure whether it has gotten worse in recent years or not, but what I am sure of is that sexual abuse against children happened back then. It happened to me when I was seven. It happened in the 1950's. I grew up in luxury apartments on the waterfront and everyone knew everyone else from socializing on the lawn by harbor side, often swimming together from beach or dock. A man visiting my neighbor was nice enough to teach me correct diving form. One day I was done playing, so I wanted to get upstairs to my mom. I got in the elevator and so did the nice man who taught me how to dive. Without any warning he attacked me. I remember no one wanted to talk about it after I told on him.

Hi ~

Can someone either post or direct me to the full Missing Posters circulating for Jenise. There seems to be at least two, the FBI's is one, and appears to be another. I am curious to see the comparison in info provided on each.

There seems to be conflicting information regards her last known clothing. I've read about an outfit with pink shirt, and I've read "unknown".

No Jammie's ever mentioned.

TIA ~

LE is not talking, which leads me to believe that they have more information than we think, at least I hope so.

“I was hanging out with her all day Friday and Saturday and I woke up and didn’t see her at all Sunday,” Mary said.
http://q13fox.com/2014/08/06/search-for-missing-6-year-old-continues-to-intensify/

Mary P, 14, was one of the last people to see Jenise. She said they were together Saturday night.

This is troublesome to me. Teenagers don't typically hang out with 6 yr olds. In my opinion, I feel that there's been a rise in crime by youthful offenders. I'm not saying Mary is involved but it should really be investigated.

This quote bothers me too. Maybe she's a babysitter? Why does she say "I woke up" after saying she was with Jenise on Saturday night? It makes it seem like they were sleeping together at the same place. Probably nothing.

I saw many references to "free range" in the last thread. I have to admit I've never seen that phrase used in reference to parenting or a child.

Chickens, eggs, beef. That applies, but not to children. I think we would all agree there is a balance in parenting, a middle ground between Helicopter & Free Range. Common sense always helps too.

I haven't looked at maps of the area closely. It this a one way in/out type of thing? Where is the closest camera that would catch vehicles passing by?

I wonder about the two sightings reported Sunday. I don't think anyone is deliberately misleading LE, but if Jenise was out and about as much as neighbors indicate, it would be easy to mix up the days. Only two people that we know of have reported seeing her. On a summer Sunday, you'd think there would be plenty of people outside, washing cars, barbecuing, watching their own children, etc. Since nobody has said Jenise came looking for breakfast, lunch or dinner, to get a drink or take a bathroom break, if it actually was Sunday when she left the house, I don't think she was wandering around very long.

I don't believe LE is discounting the 1999 charges. I also don't believe LE saying the parents are "fully" cooperating means that they have been eliminated. Unless or until LE is able to rule out family involvement, the last thing they would want is for the parents to clam up. All MOO.

I just wanted to say that this could be nothing. My 8 yo twin boys have a friend up the street. She's 8 and has an older sister who is 13 yo. Sometimes the 13 yo will come and play also.

Maybe the 14 yo here is a friend of Jenise's 12 yo sibling? Just a thought
