BBM....Are we talking about a six yr old?

IMO, YES! Even a 6 year old needs to be taught independence and problem solving. Maybe not to the degree this family did, but yes, in general.

At 6, my son could nuke a pizza in the microwave if he was hunger. He knew how to make microwave popcorn. These where things I taught him BECAUSE I wanted him to be independent.

That being said, he also knew NOT to leave the house without letting me know where he was going, even though his dad lived 5 houses down the street, on a street his dad grew up on.

Listen, I would never let my baby run around for hours unsupervised at that age. And I do have a problem with not knowing where your kid is for over 24 hours. But millions if people do let their kids play outside unattended and this kind of occurrence remains super, super rare. And, apparently, the MHP was gated and the family felt secure that they knew everyone.

Finally, this kind if horror can happen to families who don't typically allow their babies to roam
unsupervised. We have seen so many cases of kids being allowed to walk to school and being taken, or being snatched from their front yards (Anthony Martinez, Samantha Runnion, etc.), or even from their beds.

Parents have to weigh and balance the known risk, which is tiny, with their beliefs about what childhood should be.

I dont. Second degree simply means he didn't plan it. Probably panicked and suddenly killed her.

IMO... You make some very important statements here...

I live close to an area where mothers, fathers, siblings, etc. Are ALL IN the home.... Or in the backyard for family celebrations...And one or more are killed by drive by shootings... And this happens way too frequently...

(In fact... I lived in that city for the first years of my marriage... Beautiful upscale shopping mall on one side... Drive by shootings/gunshots/bars on windows of homes and buildings on the other...

JMO...

I believe they had been collecting and processing DNA samples all week. They probably prioitized the samples in some kind of order. Such as, for example, doing all the males first. So, by the time they found her body and were 'apparently' able to retrieve some kind of DNA evidence, all that was left to do was to process that sample and hopefully match it to one of the samples they had taken from people in the park. I think that's what they did. Thus, 24 hours later they had their suspect. moo.

I'd be willing to bet that the 17 yo is a friend of one of the older kids in the family. That would make it not a stranger to Jenise.

From the age of 3? I am sorry, but this went wayyyyy beyond a "little more supervision." I've been rereading some of the MSM articles, and peoples' earlier Websleuths posts on this case, and feeling sicker and sicker -- this poor little girl. Good Lord.

JMO.

Random question- what does MSM mean?

You're right. If not for the rules, I think I would've stated a lot more about my feelings about the dad in this case that would've been quite hurtful and unfair.

I have been in the same situation as you in other cases...found I was completely wrong in my suspicions...

I so appreciate your honesty...

Yeah I mean it's a sensitive topic for me, I will admit. It hits home. And I get a little ragey when I hear of tiers being victimized, especially children.

If it isn't relevant to discuss now, when is it? We've all given our condolences, we all want justice, but don't we all also want to try to prevent victimization going forward?

Yes. And educating people on it is crucial to that goal.

Just like in the JH threads, people discussed suicide and depression. And JH mom encouraged people to openly discuss it at the celebration of life/vigil to help prevent it from happening to others.

Anyway, IMO and all of that. Not trying to be argumentative. Just help, that's all. Sorry if it hurt anyone- was not my intent.

KS-
I wasn't addressing any particular post. Nor was I addressing people who were discussing how to prevent victimization. It was commentary on parenting styles and the arguments about the denotative and connotative definitions of rape for posts and posts that I was voicing my frustration with. The thread seemed to be losing its focus and was becoming a grammar battle of sorts. People sharing their experience is never something I'd criticize. People need to process in their own ways and we learn from what happens to others.

What's up with the car towing? Mud in the car??

YES!!! I knew they would get this perp. Now, the question is, were there others.

We got the best on this case.

I can't help but wonder if there were other perps...

Or if there are other victims .......

DNA expert folks-
If they compared the DNA on Jenise to the perp's mother's or father's DNA, would that give them a clue like on forensic dramas? Or does the matching the computer does not notice such patterns unless they look for them?

(Since the perp was a minor, they may not have swabbed him, so I'm just curious.)

I know now, the FBI has their yellow tape....many people outside watching. They are suited up...and impounding at least one car. People SHOCKED.

People shocked at the arrest or shocked at the car being hauled off? tia

When I first heard teens hung out in an abandoned home, I worried this would be a group thing. I WANT TO BE WRONG about that. I hope to hear this perp acted alone.

Yikes, no disrespect to you, but my kids were never allowed to touch the microwave at that age for safety reasons (metal... etc)

That looks like the house next to the path that leads into the woods.

No. I wasn't clear in my question, sorry. Who was the neighbor boy who called 911 originally to report Jenise missing on Sunday night?? The report was a kid made the call and then handed the phone to Jenise's father.

I thought it was one of the siblings. Might be wrong though. jmo
