I'll assume it was a serious retort and reply with this: An immature teen who acts on urges and did not want to have to fight off a teen or adult woman .. that would be my best guess.

The person you describe would be a RAPIST.

Sorry I thought you asked for the video of the lady being interviewed in the van.

oops; I may have.....but I took "van" to be the Nissan/SUV

bad/wrong wordage on my part. Sorry (I totally forgot that they also impounded a big white van)

I wish I had a time out emote ! But, take a breath everybody. Let's not bicker and get the thread shut down. Might be a good time to go enjoy the sunset for a few minutes and step away from your keyboards! :) You're welcome!

It seems like murder trials cost around a million dollars.

Lawyers ask for money down. They do not work unless cash is in hand.

Who can afford that?
Im wondering if there is going to be a plea deal. It sounds like LE has DNA...open and shut. Anyone think they will let him plead guilty to 2d degree murder as a juvenile?

how do you know that he didn't STALK the little 6 year old, Jenise? how do you know this is his first RAPE.

Nope, not "lightening" up....no way

ITA. The suspect most likely KNEW his friend was not home when the rape and murder happened so is this just a coincidence then? I really doubt it. JMO

Wait. Who didn't want to "fight off" a woman or teen girl -- that doesn't make sense. Do you mean he didn't want to have to go to the trouble of raping a woman or teen girl? Just no. I refuse to accept that the "normal" inclination of a teen boy is rape of ANYONE. For the love of god.

Authorities interviewed the suspect Saturday. The teenager was scheduled to make an initial appearance in Kitsap County District Court on Monday afternoon.

Part of the investigation has focused on the swift collection and testing of forensic evidence, and authorities have said everyone in the 103-unit community has complied voluntarily with the request for DNA samples.

Wilson confirmed Sunday the suspect was among those who provided DNA. The Washington State Patrol supported the investigation by staffing its crime lab 24 hours a day until the samples could be processed.

Thank-you for that public announcement. I had a coconut cream pie slice at Sharis, not bad.

NO. I won't lighten up. Rape is rape is rape. One who rapes is a rapist. One who rapist a child is a pedophile and a rapist. One who rapes and kills a child is a rapist, a pedophile and a murderer.

In a legal sense, it is a 'rape' and the perp is considered as a 'rapist'. 'Rapist' in the sense as one consciously decides to stalk, kidnap and rape as a criminal hobby, as opposed to a one-off opportunistic stupid-decision rape. so, lighten up.

I know everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but no, just no.
Being a victim of rape (my rapist was a "trusted friend"), this REALLY upset me. I don't care if you raped someone once or if it's your "hobby" *shudders* as you put it. Violate someone's body and you're a rapist, no ifs ands or buts.

I wonder if that's going to turn into an issue. They didn't have a search warrant - I wonder if everyone was informed and had to sign that they knew this was a voluntary action, and that they had the right to refuse?

I guess in re-considering, probably if the DNA test is thrown out as being conducted without a warrant, they can always get a warrant and redo the test. It's not like it's a one time opportunity. Is that true? That you can get a warrant for DNA of a charged criminal during the preparation for trial phase, anyone know?

This little 6 yr old was raped, murdered and thrown in a muddy ditch. So it is kind of hard to 'lighten up' when discussing it. It cannot be labeled a 'one-off stupid decision' imo. It was a cold blooded murder.

Has anyone thought of the idea that JW might have wandered out of her home and happened upon the perp in the woods or in a vehicle while he was involved with doing what teen boys do (self) and that the perp gave in to a sexual urge and he is not what would be considered a 'rapist' but simply a teen who gave in to a hormonal urge and fear of reprisal or punishment?

My thoughts lean in that direction because there was no charge of kidnapping.
A teen who gives in to a hormonal urge with a 6-year-old IS a rapist. Even if she was interested, a child cannot legally give consent. It still makes him a predator, as do female teachers who prey on boys.

Per my hubby...and this is just his opinion, I showed him the pic of the vehicle (he knows nothing of this case!) and he says it looks like a Dodge truck that is 4x4...there's a 4x4 shifter to the bottom right of the steering wheel (we had a Dodge 4x4 :) )

I so wonder what went wrong with this kid.

I imagine there will be no sleuthing of the family so we cannot look for issues there?

Could head injuries or taking substances to bulk up cause this kind of incident?

He lives with mom and step dad.

So has he lived there a long time? Moved around?

He appears to have friends as the net seems to indicate people are shocked.

Or will we hear there were issues?

Doesn't matter whether it was a one-time opportunist or not, RAPE is RAPE! And if it was pre-meditated, that will be added onto the charges.

Yeeaah, um, no. Rape is not a topic *I* will ever "lighten up" about, particularly not the rape and murder of a child.

Me either! No "lightening up" here either.

I'm sorry, but I can't believe people are suggesting that we are "bickering" about rape. Going back & forth about mobile home vs. trailer -- that I can see as bickering. Discussing whether the violation of a person's body is just giving in to a hormonal urge -- not bickering. IMO.
