I agree with the posters above, that the disorganization and carelessness of the perp in not covering his tracks well / leaving evidence indicates to me it is possible that he did not watch crime shows. I wondered the same thing. jmo

Just a hypothetical question. Dad says he saw Jenice in bed at 10.00pm Saturday night. With the timings of the family waking up apparently changing from later in the morning to now being around 7.00am (if I recall correctly), I am concerned, like others are, that the family's timeline isn't correct. In particular, its confusing with the clothing being found being that of outdoor wear rather than pyjamas, and the lack of details regarding what she did/ate at home that night.

So, here is my concern. IF the time of death for Janice is narrowed down to, say, between 8pm and 10pm on Saturday night, would this course problems in court along the lines of the perp saying he couldn't possibly have killed her, as she was in her family's company at the time of death. Obviously there is DNA evidence, but wondering if there could be problems due to this technicality?

Then again, if the family have to admit that she didn't come home Saturday night, and wasn't actually seen at home at 10pm, where would that leave them in terms of the law - in that false information was given for a start, and the impact it would have when considering if the home is a safe environment to return the other children too.

Similarly, if death occurred any time between 7am and when the police were finally notified over 12 hours later, does that mean anything regards to child protection, in that Jenice had no parental supervision for over 12 hours that day? Or would those things be ignored in light of the tragedy that has befallen the family now?

Hope this is ok mods, as its a hypothetical question not an accusation?

They also found GG's own bloody and muddy clothes in his bedroom...and he shook his head yes, when asked if he acted alone..so waiting for court documents to be released to know for sure how he was with jenise...

I'm sure once they spoke to GG, he would tell how and when he got control of Jenise.

I don't think this will come back for the parents and their other children will be returned to them. All done as a precaution due to not knowing who the perp was...

The 17-year-old neighbor of Jenise Wright wasn’t arrested until Aug. 9, but he had caught the attention of investigators several days before...

The teen was there, but his stepfather and mother said he was “too upset to really speak with” or to give a voluntary DNA sample. They confirmed the boy had been home all weekend, and asked the agents to return later, court documents say.

It is not noted in court documents, but the agents found the teen’s behavior odd and believed he was “someone to keep an eye on,” according to a source familiar with the investigation who spoke on condition of anonymity.

did anyone notice in the PCW that when LE arrived at trailer to take voluntary DNA samples he was said to be too distraught to give one and it was noted the adults in the residence said he was like this when his mother's sister died too.

That struck me as odd. Were they simply trying to explain behavior they thought would come across as odd to LE? Did he behave similarly when his aunt died? What did his aunt die of and when? Questions that occurred while reading the PCW.

NOT suggesting anyone sleuth the accused's family. Just noting something that struck me as unusual.

He must have had a court appointed attorney for the arraignment. Unless his family has money, he'll get another court appointed attorney to take on the murder/rape and other charges...no one goes before a judge without an attorney...is my belief

Judge sets bail at $1 million for suspect in Jenise Wright’s death

UPDATE, 3:10 p.m.: Kitsap County prosecutors filed court papers Monday afternoon, detailing probable cause to hold Gabriel Zebediah Gaeta, 17, on one count of first-degree murder and one count of first-degree rape.

In a probable-cause document, a detective wrote that Gaeta had been linked to the slaying of Jenise Wright through a match of his DNA to DNA found on bloody clothing recovered near Jenise’s body.

During an interview with investigators on Saturday, a highly distraught Gaeta “clearly nodded yes” when he was asked if he was the only one involved in Jenise’s death, the detective wrote.

An autopsy showed blunt-force trauma to Jenise’s head, as well as evidence of strangulation by ligature and sexual assault.

In the court papers, the murder allegation included the aggravating circumstances of concealing the commission of a crime and sexual motivation. The murder and rape allegations also listed the aggravating circumstance of a particularly vulnerable victim.

A judge found probable cause to hold Gaeta at a court hearing Monday afternoon. Bail has been set at $1 million.

Yes i did read it, thank you....IMHO molestation doesn't always involve blood and/or semen....I did say in 'some' fashion.....previously... only speculating...no proof of any previous improperness that I am aware of

bail has been set at $1 Million - ((what's that a $100K bond? price tag don't know))

as soon as that is paid he's free but first he has the evaluation

I don't know how long the evaluation would take

If the evaluation is completed and he's returned to regular custody is it possible that his folks might bail him out in advance of his Aug 28 hearing?

NO ONE is allowed to touch you in areas that a bathing suit, bikini would cover!! NO ONE!!! I pray that speech was always remembered with my kids. I pray they felt comfortable and freely enough to tell me if it did happen. Sadly some parents don't find out until many years later. The shame, fear, threats, I'm not sure of all the emotions involved, but I often here about cases when it came out many years later. Sometimes once the victim becomes an adult, and becomes strong enough to talk about it.

I am glad I taught my girls about people also looking there because it ended up a neighbor did just that and my DD knew right away that it was wrong.

I am not ready to buy that excuse since most who were abused as a child never go on to sexually abuse another child. The FBI looked for any abuse in Joe Duncan's childhood and found nothing yet by the age of 8 he was forcefully raping little boys younger than him.

If that was truly a factor with one in four girls and one and six boys being sexually abused every year in this country we would see this happening at an alarming rate and we don't. It is very rare for someone to do what this kid did.

Imo, he is like Duncan and both are sexual deviants, imo, just like the psyche doctors labeled Duncan when he was in his teens and said he was incurable and we all know they were exactly right for he went on to do the most sadistic sexual things to young children including murder.

And I agree with you , the huge majority of victims do NOT offend as adults. I agree with this hands down.
However, a huge majority of offenders were victims themselves in my personal opinion.

yes,not every child that was abused becomes an abuser.But the vast majority of abusers were abused themselves.That's a fact.

It is nothing more than a copout excuse to me. So what if they were abused as a child? Millions of children suffer the same fate each year and never harm another child or anyone else for that matter. Many childhood abuse survivors post on this site including myself.

Of course they want everyone to believe the abuse that happened years ago made them do it. Most are trying to get out of going to prison for life or get out of going to death row.

If prior childhood abuse was a trigger to make someone do something this hideous then our criminal justice system wouldn't be able to house all of the defendants.

Abuse is just an excuse to try and blame someone else for their own chosen wicked acts.

Once again I had to skip a couple pages so I can finally get a post written before the thread is closed. Sorry if nothing I say fits in with what's being discussed. SORRY, POSSIBLY TOO GRAPHIC!

I wanted to start by just saying the scenario that keeps popping into my head. I see her getting up early, getting dressed and leaving the house; I haven't decided yet if it was planned the night before or if she just ran into him outside (maybe on his way home to sleep off a long night of partying). Anyway, he asks her to go pick wild blackberries with him, and she's more than happy to do it. She'd get to spend time with one of the big kids and could surprise her parents with a treat for breakfast.

I think it is possible that he had done some touching before, and he assumed it was safe to try more since she never told anybody. When he took off her shorts and panties, he put her on the ground on top of them. When she started screaming in pain, saying she was going to tell on him and bleeding all over, he grabbed the belt/strap (whatever it was they said they found with her) and wrapped it around her neck. When she didn't stop fighting soon enough, he also slammed her head into the ground a few times. Once she stopped breathing, he through her into the spot where she was found, threw the pallet on top of her thinking it would cover her up and/or make her sink faster and farther, and threw the "murder weapon" on it as an after thought. He may have thought he heard someone coming, or someone may have called his name, or he was just too out of it to think about it, but he left without grabbing her clothes. If he had planned it out (very poorly), he may have taken off his shoes and socks before getting to the mud and had an extra set of clothes with him to change into before going home.

3. Was there a clearing or level ground where he could do the unthinkable?

4. Him entering her had to be incredibly painful. No one heard her screaming?

5. I don't feel it happened there outside.

So based on this excerpt from this MSM article, Dad JW admits that kids, including GG, would spend the night at their home...claiming it's because of their culture. What culture? I can understand kids having sleepovers if their friends don't live close-by but when they live in the same MHP why would they be sleeping over?

For 10 years my sons best friends lived right next door and they routinely had sleepovers, so I don't find that odd at all.

Sunday, August 3, (21:53 hours) - 911 call came in - LE arrived at residence 22:34
Jenise's father, JW, told LE that he last saw Jenise in bed at 22:00 hours on August 2.
According to JW, on August 3 at 07:00 hours, Jenise was not at home.
Even though unusual for her to go out so early in the morning, JW figured she left the house to play.
At 20:30 hours (8:30 p.m.), J's siblings began looking around the neighborhood and knocking on doors to find Jenise.
After another hour and twenty-three minutes had passed, someone dialed 911 to report Jenise missing.

Monday, August 4 - LE went to GG's residence and found him at home with his mother and stepfather.
They explained that GG was too upset at the moment to really speak to LE or to give a DNA sample.
Mother asked LE to come back later.
GG's stepfather told LE that GG was home all weekend.

The search and rescue team found a pair of little girl's underwear (size 5) while searching the southeast perimeter of the Steele Creek mobile home park along with a pair of young girl's shorts.
Both had red stains on them. A quick test confirmed the stains were blood.

Wednesday, August 6 - The crime lab confirmed the blood was Jenise's and collected semen from the underwear as well.

Thursday, August 7 - At 11:00 hours, a body of a deceased child was discovered 15 to 20 feet away from where Jenise's shorts were found.
The body was almost entirely submerged in mud bog adjacent to the trailer park.
The mud was three to four feet deep.
There was a small pallet on top of the mud and a strap* was discovered there too
(*belonging to some kind of nylon bag, duffle, suitcase or laptop bag).

Friday, August 8 - The body was identified and confirmed to be Jenise.
She suffered blunt force trauma causing multiple skull fractures, vaginal tearing and genital trauma, signs of strangulation by ligature.
Lividity on the abdominal area and back indicate her body was moved 1/2 to 3 hours after death.

LE returned to GG's residence and collected his DNA sample.
GG was emotionally upset and could hardly get out of bed.
GG leaned up against a wall while LE was there.
GG's mother mentioned to LE that GG displayed similar behavior when her sister, GG's aunt, died.
LE noted the residence is two mobile homes west of the wooded trail access to where Jenise's body had been found.

Saturday, August 9 - Washington State Patrol Crime Lab made a DNA match to a male profile from the stain found on the front of the underwear.

The same day, blood stained underwear, blood and mud stained shirt and blood stained shorts and bloody towel were all found in GG's bedroom.

GG was arrested and brought to the jail at 14:50 on Saturday.

Sunday, August 10 - GG was jailed at 12:30 a.m.
Charged with two counts of murder in the first degree and one count of rape of a child in the first degree*
