WA WA - Joseph Pichler, 18, Bremerton, 5 Jan 2006 - Child Actor - #2

That restaurant bothers me- Supposedly it was fave mexican restaurant, IIRC, and they pretty much drove right to it while out searching for Joe- That was a red flag for the family, as things werent adding up already. If that was his fave place, he was prob well known in such a small home-town, and someone HAD to have seen something, or first noticed when the car was there.

All these questions are making me want to call Det Davis back and ask him- Maybe we can come up with a specific list and just go for it- He was pretty nice and easy to talk to, and knows this case- I would be up for it later in the week :P

I would love to know if they (LE) have investigated the staged burglary possibilty.

On the evening of January 3rd, 2006, Joe Pichler was playing cards with four friends. At approximately 2:30 am on January 4th, Joe supposedly dropped off his girlfriend and then a male friend. Joe went into the house of the male friend at some point during the night. At approximately 4:00 am, Joe called his male friend apparently distraught. This was the last Joe was ever seen or heard from again.
The evening of January 4th at approximately 7:00, Joe’s mother became concerned because Joe wasn’t answering the phone. She sent Joe’s brother, AJ, to investigate. AJ found the apartment unlocked and the lights on. After waiting almost an hour, he turned off the lights and locked the door.
The next morning, Joe’s mother went to Joe’s apartment. Joe was not there. She preceded to Joe’s place of employment, Discordia Games. Joe had not shown up for work the night before.
Kathy Pichler reported her son missing to the police and asked Joe’s brother, AJ, to help with the search.
AJ immediately called Joe’s male friend that he was last seen with on January 4th. The friend told AJ that Joe had called him and told him to write down a message that didn’t make sense to him. The message according to Magic The Gathering.com representatives was the name of a deck of Magic The Gathering Cards.
Joe’s car, a 2005 Toyota Corolla, was found by the close male friend and Joe’s brother, AJ, on January 5th. The car was discovered after only several minutes of searching for Joe. The Bremerton police were immediately called to the scene. The police searched Joe’s car. There was vomit in the floor board and many of Joe’s Magic The Gathering cards had been stolen, but this failed to make the police report. In Joe’s car, the police found a poem that looked to them like a suicide note. The police read the poem aloud to everyone.
Immediately, the police released the car to the family without any forensic testing or other processing and an uncle drove the car to the Pichler home.
The police then went to Joe’s apartment with a sister of Joe’s. They walked through the house with a flashlight and declared it looked fine. However, the family reported that more of Joe’s Magic The Gathering cards had been stolen from the apartment. This also never made the police report.
Later when the family wanted to get a few belongings, AJ and the close male friend went to Joe’s apartment. AJ started to the manager’s office to get the key. The friend leaped onto Joe’s balcony and went through a backdoor that he knew was unlocked. Joe according to his family did not keep this door unlocked.
Joe's vehicle was found abandoned near the Wheaton Way and Sheridan Road intersection in Bremerton, WA behind a restaurant called "Taqueria Los Cazadores". It is located at 2805 Wheaton Way. Joe Pichler has not been seen since.
Joe’s case was sent as a suicide report to the FBI and the FBI signed off on suicide. See FBI report. However, the same close male friend that was at the reading of the poem the day Joe’s car was found, reported that he and Joe had written the ‘poem’ together and it was not a suicide note. He reported this information 5 months after Joe’s disappearance and not on January 5th, 2006 the date the poem was found and Joe disappeared.
Joe’s car has never been tested for blood, DNA, or fingerprints in 2 years. The police took pictures of the car 6 months after Joe’s disappearance. Then on January 25th, 2008, tried to convince the family that those pictures were taken the day Joe disappeared.
The Magic The Gathering cards and the Magic The Gathering Binders have never been tested for fingerprints either. Also, the last place Joe was seen alive was Joe’s friends house. That house has never been forensicly tested as well. Joe’s male friend lived with another male. There have been conflicting stories from the other male friend as to where he was the night Joe disappeared.
To add to the confusion, one of Joe’s friends who wasn’t even supposed to be at the party admitted she knew where the car was and had gone to the scene to remove evidence, but the police had already arrived. This is the same person that created a highly riska website under MySpace for Joe. A MySpace account Joe never used, but which his friends used a lot. There were interesting statements made by Joe’s friends on MySpace the night he disappeared that they were planning something that made the girl nervous (the other friends were being sketchy and weird about the details), but the Bremerton Police have not looked at the MySpace accounts in 2 years. They have been very busy.
The Bremerton Police have also interviewed only two of the five friends. They have not asked any of the five friends for polygraphs. This week due to the incredible encouragement and work of outside investigators, the Bremerton Police have been pushed to interview the five friends and ask them for polygraphs. They have yet to process any of the evidence. They have also admitted to not having anyone in their department who knows MySpace or who is good with interviewing suspects. The police report and FBI reports are available.
The car evidence, apartment evidence, house evidence, card, and binder evidence have probably all been destroyed due to the lack of work from the Bremerton Police Department. This is a sad case of injustice and laziness on the part of the Bremerton Police Department.
When outside the state investigators pointed out the evidence had not been processed correctly, the Bremerton Police responded very angrily and refused the help of an Orgeon sheriff's gang department that said it had experience with MySpace messages and how to read them correctly.
Joe Pichler was born in Bremerton WA. Joe started working locally in Seattle on videos and commercials. He was in a commercial for a Seattle department store at age 6. He moved to Los Angeles where he immediately landed a role in "The Fan" (1996), starring Robert DeNiro and Wesley Snipes. Other film roles quickly followed. Pichler also appeared in the movies "Varsity Blues" in 1999 and the third and fourth installments of the "Beethoven" series, featuring the humorous adventures of a St. Bernard, in 2000 and 2001. In 2002, he had a leading role in the film "Children on Their Birthdays," a coming of age tale based on a short story by Truman Capote. His Television credits include "Touched By An Angel", "Promised Land", "Lois & Clark", "In The House", "Mad TV", "A Stranger In Paradise" and "Gun" (with Carrie Fisher and Kirsten Dunst). In addition, Joe has done numerous Commercials and Voice-Overs and even recorded "The Land Before Time" Sing-A-Long Tape and CD.
He returned to Bremerton to live full-time in 2002 at the urging of his mother and was graduated last year from Bremerton High but never lost his passion for acting. After graduation he was looking forward to having his braces removed and returning to California to continue his dream of acting.

The FBI said that if the get enough phone calls, they will work Joe's case. Please call the Seattle FBI. (206) 622-0460 Bremerton Police Dept have done nothing for 2 years to find Joe!

Here is a more information on Joe Pichler's case...

There has been a tremendous amount of incorrect information reported about Joe’s case.

Key points that have been miscommunicated are where Joe's car was found, where Joe was last seen, the date Joe's car was found, the date Joe was reported missing, what the Bremerton Police actually did and did not do on Joe Pichler's case.

Joe Pichler has been missing from Bremerton, Washington since January 3rd, 2006. The night Joe Pichler was last seen he was entertaining four friends at his apartment on 2000 Magnuson Way. At approx 2:30 am, he allegedly dropped his friend Kelly off at her house and then dropped his friend Justin off at an apartment Justin shared with Jesse at Jesse’s parents’ home. The other two friends, Kyle and Nicole, allegedly drove themselves home. At approx 4:08 am, Joe’s cell phone was used to call his friend Justin.

On January 4th, 2006 at approx 7:00 pm, Joe Pichler’s mother, Kathy Pichler, sent her son, AJ, to check on Joe. Joe’s apartment was unlocked and the lights were on. AJ waited for almost an hour then he turned off the lights and locked the door. On January 5th, 2006 at approx 8:00 am, Kathy Pichler went to the apartment on Magnuson Way herself. She immediately reported to the police her son was missing. She went to Discordia game, where Joe worked. They reported he did not show up for work the previous night. Kathy called AJ and asked his help with the search. AJ called Justin for help. Justin immediately came to the Pichler home. AJ said Justin took several turns and drove straight to Joe’s car which had been abandoned behind a restaurant at 559 Lebo Blvd.

When the police arrived, they found a poem among the belongings in Joe Pichler’s car. The police read the poem allowed and declared it was a suicide note. They immediately released the car to the family without any processing. Detective Davis told Kathy Pichler, Joe probably jumped from a nearby bridge and his body would float up in a few months. The police then went to Joe’s apartment where Joe’s sister, Shawna, walked with them through the apartment. Shawna reported the search was no more than 3 minutes. The police reported the apartment was fine.

This information was reported by almost every news source in America.

Now, the rest of the story…

Joe’s uncle drove Joe’s car to the Pichler home. When they got there, the family noticed vomit in the floorboard of the car on the passenger side. The family also noticed Magic The Gathering cards were strung out all over the car and the most valuable ones were all missing. They reported this to the Bremerton Police. This information as of 1/25/08 had still not reached the police report although the family told them about it many many times. The car set in the driveway for almost a year undriven. The vomit was never tested for DNA. Finally, the family gave up on the police and began to drive the car. When the Pichlers’ went to Joe’s apartment on 1/6/06, they found that it also had been robbed as well. Joe's remaining Magic The Gathering cards were thrown around over his bedroom closet. They reported this information to the police too. The information never made the police report and the apartment was never processed for blood or fingerprint evidence. The remaining cards were never tested for fingerprints or DNA as well.

The last place Joe was seen alive with Jesse’s parent home. Alledgedly Jesse admitted seeing Joe in the home, but his story changed several times on exactly how and when it happened. Jesse’s home was never checked by the Bremerton Police. Detective Davis stated many times in the newspapers that the Bremerton Police had done all they could do on this case.

In May 2006, five months after Joe’s car was found on 1/5/06, after the public reading of the poem, Justin announced it was not a suicide note. He and Joe had written “the poem” together. The Bremerton Police changed their conclusions on the case as missing endangered teen. The Bremerton Police had reported suicide to the FBI. At what point this was corrected is still not clear.

Several months after Joe disappeared, Joe’s ex-girlfriend, Cammie, came to visit Kathy Pichler. According to Mrs. Pichler, Cammie accidently told Kathy that Cammie and another friend had gone to Joe’s car behind the restaurant to remove any items that might embarrass the family, but the police had already found it. Kathy asked Cammie how she knew where the car was and she wouldn’t respond. Cammie also admitted to having a 2nd set of keys to Joe’s car.

In June 2006, six months after Joe disappeared; the Bremerton Police Department took pictures of Joe’s car.

In December 2007, several independent investigators reviewed a MySpace account that Cammie created and which was not Joe’s but claimed to be Joe’s. All of the people last seen with Joe would send messages to it before and after Joe disappeared, but Joe didn’t send any messages. One of the messages was dated 1/3/06 at 7:03pm from Kelly to another friend claiming she was worried about going to Joe’s because the friends were planning something and they were being sketchy and weird. As of 1/25/08, Kelly has never been asked to explain this message.

As of 1/25/08, The Bremerton Police have never obtained a warrant to retrieve the private MySpace messages from the people last seen with Joe Pichler. They have never retrieved the cell phone records/messages/towers from the people last seen with Joe Pichler. The Bremerton Police told the Pichler family that if Joe hadn’t committed suicide then he was in the Witness Protection Program and they couldn’t talk about it.

In December 2007, the police still had only interviewed Justin. Cammie, Kyle, Nicole, Jesse, and Kelly all admitted seeing him on 1/3/006. They had not been interviewed and none of these people had been asked for polygraphs at this point.

An FBI agent in Washington DC stated that the FBI would help on missing person cases if it strongly looked like murder and the case was flagrantly mishandled. According to the FBI, flagrantly mishandled implied is when all the people last seen with a missing person are not interviewed and asked for polygraphs. All evidence in the case was not processed.

On January 3rd, 2008, the Bremerton Police announced they were given Joe Pichler’s case renewed vigor. Since that date they have re-interview Justin, tried to setup interviews with the other "friends". One January 25th, 2008, the Bremerton Police brought the Pichler family into the police station to talk about the case. They tried to convince the family there was no vomit in the car. They also tried to convince them the pictures the police took in June 2006 were actually taken on 1/5/06.

Emailed Dateline about this case. I hope it can be showcased.

Subject: America's Most Wanted Makes an Announcement

Hello everyone,

I have good news for you in the form of a new awareness venture for your missing loved one with the America's Most Wanted (AMW) TV show.

The Missing Persons Producer asked me to make sure you knew about this, and to encourage you to tune into the show to see the announcement. This is something that I know many of you have wanted and asked for and now it's here.

We all know how visuals are critical in the search for missing persons. We've always believed in more than visuals, and that is in the sharing of your story. What better way than to get the face of your missing loved one in the public's eye, tell your story in your words, and add the personal element to help others understand and want to help.

The producer tells about My Story in her own words:
"The launch of the “My Story” segment of America’s Most Wanted will take place this Saturday night. My Story will allow the loved ones of missing persons to submit video to America’s Most Wanted about their case, told in their own words. As the show is configured it will air 46 minutes into the show. For people that miss it, the show is always available at www.amw.com after the show airs. On Saturday night people will be able to go on www.amw.com to see, download and print the instructions and guidelines for submitting video to us.
We only have 46 minutes of airtime each week. The missing cases will be competing with other cases for airtime. Our website has the capacity to hold these videos as well so that in addition to a larger presence of missing case information being on the web, we will be putting the videos up once edited."
She would like to know what you think about this and your comments after seeing the show. If you email me with those, I will compile them and send them to her. Be sure to indicate if you wish to remain anonymous, or sign your name to your comments.

In addition to this exciting announcement, I have been told that two families will have their missing loved one featured on the show.

All missing persons are loved by someone, and their families deserve to find the answers they seek in regards to the disappearance.

Christine beat me, lol-I was just about to post this. Chico or DD-have you heard from Kathi regarding this? Let's hope it generates whatever tip that will bring Joe home...

Just saw the segment... it was compilation of families speaking about their missing loved ones, the Pichler family being one. I guess you could say it was a blurb of sort, not a feature... but as I see it, no matter how small the segment was, Joe did get some face time. The family did talk about seeing a black glove beside his car, when they found it... I guess they didn't pick it up by how they said that they didn't think it was tied to his disappearance when they first found the car.

AMW just aired here on the west coast. I am so glad that Joe's case was on the show. Every little bit helps and gives the family a sense of hope. Praying that they will soon have answers.

I came to this thread because of the AMW segment. I plan to call the FBI on Monday! The way LE handled this case reminds me of the Wix case - only much WORSE! When LE handles cases in this manner, I feel scared for the others who live in the same town!

I havent heard a word, but then again, they dont respond to me. I am SOOO excited to hear he was on AMW- The one night I go out on a Sat in 3 years, and I miss it!!! God Bless Tivo!!!

As Elphaba said, there really wasnt much but a blurb of sorts, and new info about a glove. I wish we had a family member on here to collaborate and verify all of this info we have. :innocent:

I have been on this case from the VERY beginning, have spoke to close fam friends and relatives', but NEVER an immediate family member- I am not here to write an investigational story about Joe (none of us are)- This is a true crime/missing forum and we are trying to help the Pichler's find out what happened to their precious son. I have been told that Kathy would get back to me, and I understand if she doenst want to re-hash it, but she speaks about it to others?? The only problem is, its like the old game telephone, and by the time it gets to WS, its stretched out of proportion!!! :silenced:

I just feel we have a lot of mis-information (most coming from these punk-kids trying to cover it up, IMO), and NEED help from someone from the family to help us clarify some things- I honestly dont see how much more I can help with out this- I have passed on MANY messages, yet no answer.... I cant turn my back on JP, but unless someone gets some proven facts, Im stuck!!! Any suggestions????

Kimster,
If you re-read this thread, there is some info about when the FBI was contacted origionally. BPD has a big role on the travesty of this investigation also. Call them up gf

I know that you have worked tirelessly on this case. I want Joe to be found too. It just seems like there would be some family member that would want to get the right information out there to people who care and want to help bring Joe home. I understand that his family has been put through the ringer with LE. I even understand that his Mom might not be able to discuss it. But I know when my Dad was sick there were times that some of us couldn't handle it but there was always somene else in the family that could. I really wish Kathy could find someone in the family to help give the right information. But I know everyone handles things differently. I hope his family has peace and one day they find out what happened to Joe.

MCDRAW,

Thank you for understanding my POV and not bashing me- :blowkiss: I am very glad my post came out the way I intended it to. I in NO WAY want to hurt the Pichler family at all- They have been thru something horrible and only a mother in her shoes would know that pain. I commend her for NOT speakign out to all these odd ball reporters that have spoken about Joe.

Its just personally, I have come to a point where if the family cant provide any extra clues (or ANY AT ALL), that could at least get a fire started!

I, as well as at LEAST hundreds of WS have put in HOURS trying to locate Joe and any additional help would be great- Maybe the public would know something else?? We are at a standstill, and I have worked hard on this case. I would love nothing more than to bring Joe home to Kathy.

Any relatives can post anon also?? just a thought :)

My name is Diana, I have been interested in Joe's care for a little over 2 years now. I made and run a myspace for him and this would be the link: Www.Myspace.Com/HopeForJoe. I have Kathy as part of the myspace and she and I have spoken more than once. She is such a sweet woman and it is so tragic that this has happened to her and her family. I can assure you all that it isn't that Kathy is not thankful for all you guys do but she is very busy. She has 8 grandbabies that she watches from time to time and she also is constantly doing thing's involving Joe's case and trying to push people to help find him. Kathy has a very hard time talking about the case, we've discussed in most of our chat's but she doesn't like to discuss it much. She suffers from terrible Anxiety cause of what happened to Joe, What you do need to remember is, Kathy does have a missing son but she also has another son and two daughter's and a husband to care for and so if she does not reply to you do not take it personal. I have mentioned to Kathy how wonderful this site and all of you are and how much you care for her son and that he return's home. This is the first message I have ever recieved from Kathy Pichler (it was after I first added her to the myspace for Joe).

"I cant stop shaking..... and through tears, can hardly see the keys to type this message to you.
I absolutely cannot believe the time, effort and research you've put into your page. Who are you?... why did you do this?
I'm SO discouraged, and have little hope of getting answers about where my baby is.
Then I get a myspace "friend request" (you)
You've put everything in one place, and can SEE everything thats gone wrong. I know everything thats gone wrong and have begged for the people who should do something about it to please do their job and make this right. Maybe my presenting bits & pieces wasnt enough to motivate them? My state of mind hasnt allowed me to think clearly enough to do what you've done and put it all in one place.
.. I feel like this is a dream! I actually feel a renewed hope. I dont even know how to begin to say thank you.
Thank you so so soooooooooooooooooo much, from the deepest part of my heart. God bless you for all your hard work, and for your compassion and your heart.

My grandbaby just got here.... I'll write more later.....
wow!"

I will be more than happy to answer any questions that any of you have on the case and I will send whatever question's you have about the case to Kathy.
