So true. I’m actually surprised the perp didn’t ditch the car in water - there or in one of the many, many bodies of water around Tacoma.

It would be conspicuous by helicopter. If it's not a rural area and if Tacoma has a strong LE presence or resources, a car would take time to sink... it would have to have no people around.... you would need a location. It's risky.

A scenario. They met at the park. Walked around on the trails, to discuss things, maybe lured into one of the trails that goes through thick woods. Something happens, quickly. No-one knows he's there. He takes her car and parks it where it was found. Then retrieves his own car, by taking an Uber or bus. He has her cell phone and drives up to Pt. Defiance, and tosses it off the cliff. Last ping. She was never in his truck.
Wonder if her car was wiped down, steering wheel, gear shift, seat lever. That would be suspicious since it should have her prints. I dunno.
Ugh....

She may have done an inhome pregnancy test and scheduled the ultrasound on her own. I wonder if she has health insurance?
Speaking of insurance, I haven't seen mention of where she works?

If the perp dropped off her vehicle I wonder how he got back to his vehicle. Maybe there is more than one person involved. Unless he walked back, I guess.
IIRC, it was only a mile and a half from his home. JMO, but that's one of the things that pointed to him as a POI.

I have a feeling that KC's mom had information that helped LE focus on a POI. This is one of those cases where the mom is very close to her daughter, and very very active in her life--and her excitement about being a grandparent is palpable.

My heart breaks for KC's mom. It just breaks for her.

What makes you think that?? Very curious. JMO

It's just speculation, a hunch. I think the POI's home is central to whatever crime occurred. But I also wonder about family connections, particularly siblings local to the area. And of couse the girlfriend. I wonder where POI and girlfriend are sleeping tonight--if it's with friends or family.

There are several pregnancy test centers and reproductive clinics, including a Planned Parenthood in Tacoma. You can walk in a get a pregnancy test there; some places offer ultrasounds for free, especially if they are religious. My guess is that she had a confirmed positive at a local clinic and was just going for her standard ultrasound as part of clinical pregnancy care (and to see if she was having twins).

Wonder if LE has a way of checking paternity using pregnancy test results? It seems like the focus on this pregnancy test will be used to establish motive and decide how to charge suspect. But the paternity issue will linger until KC is found.

Thinking of her mother and twin brother tonight. :(

IMO a regular pregnancy test performed at an obgyn office or clinic does not have, in and of itself, enough information to establish paternity. You'd also need a blood sample or cheek swab from the suspected father, and the maternal blood sample would have had to be retained from the earlier test (not sure that this is routinely done).

If she was about 3 months along she might have been going in for the standard ultrasound that screens for Down Syndrome and other markers of fetal health. If a woman has had a uneventful early pregnancy this might be the first ultrasound she receives; the next one would be around 20 weeks gestation and for some women those are the only two ultrasounds you'd have, assuming everything else is going well.

"She (friend) said the police told friends and family members not to share their opinions about the ex-boyfriend, or what he thought about the pregnancy."
hmmm

Unbelievable. If I was in the same situation I know I wouldn't be strong enough NOT to scream my thoughts and feelings from the rooftops.

"I mean that's all she ever wanted--to be a mom." Friend (Alexandra) saying the two were planning a baby shower together for Halloween.

Boyfriend's truck was taken in.

"Detectives do not consider this a missing persons case any longer."

Friend and family are "hopeful" anyway.

"Alexandra says the ex-boyfriend IS the father of the baby. She also said police told friends and family not to share their opinions about the ex-boyfriend or how he is feeling about this pregnancy with the media." (Direct transcription of wording)
