I think there will be some accessory to murder charges and abuse of corpse charges for someone else if Kassanndra is no longer alive. The person facing those charges would be who I would hope they would get some information out of. Of course, this is merely speculation and my own personal thoughts.

I agree. I think someone will talk and it will be someone who wants to cut a deal. If they have compelling evidence of guilt against that person. (Read: scare the $#!^ out of her/him).

Also just my opinion.

No word from any reporters on searches or activity at Wapato Park or areas in Pt Defiance or elsewhere, right?
Here's info on Pt Defiance, and a map.
Is this park accessible at night?

eta...oh, just saw above post

There are a ton of cell towers not far away, so I'm not too tied up on that bit of the puzzle.

There are a ton of cell towers not far away, so I'm not too tied up on that bit of the puzzle. Until the rest is solved, how the ping fits isn't relevant, IMO

You can get a somewhat accurate account of the location of a phone if you can ping it off 3 towers at once. I saw in another group that it pinged "2 miles south" of the tower on Vashon. Thats either on land or on water depending if its south west or south east. If data could be collected from other cell towers in the area a more accurate search could be done.

Going a step further, if you could ping a cellphone between other towers you could form a route of travel for how and when the cell phone ended up at its last known spot.

The three main (keyword is main not only) ways to get to Point Defiance are along Vassault St, Pearl St, and Ruston Way. You could in theory check the cellphone pings off the other towers to see what the latency is for those to determine a position/route and from there maybe review cameras along the route. It would kind of be like a monkey swinging vine to vine only we don't see the monkey as it swings through the concrete jungle.

Pierce County Sheriff Department Dive Team is at Owens Beach at Point Defiance Park.

That’s a pretty popular beach, especially in the summer. If something happened to her there it would have had to be a night when no one was around. Point Defiance Park has some extremely dense areas though, bodies have been found there before.

If she was NOT pregnant by chance and was killed because she thought she was...that is awful enough but if she was indeed pregnant, then whoever killed her might be charged with two murders, at least in some states...jmo
I may be wrong, but IIRC, the states that charge for 2 murders when a woman is pregnant, usually do so only when the woman is very far along, and the child is viable, if it was born at that time.

At least that is how I understood it.

I was just at Owen Beach. The dive team parked their SUV's there but they have another SUV with an empty boat trailer at the boat launch area. They are out on the water probably searching the north end of the park along the cliffs. My guess is they think she could have been dumped along one of the vantage points along 5 mile drive. You are right, there is no way anything could have happened at Owen Beach without someone seeing something. It's way too busy. However, above the cliffs there are plenty of spots to stop where there are few to no people around.

Edit: I have no info if they are there to search for her but I assume that is what they are there for. It's highly unusual to see 10 police SUV's with a dive team.

Thanks for the photos. Helps those of us in other parts of the country get the visual!

Thank you and welcome!
Can you tell us whether the Pt Defiance area is accessible at night, by vehicle, or is there a gate?

So right now, the outer 5 mile road (in order to reach the very northern end of Pt Defiance) schedule to cars is as follows:

Effective 8/24/20 the outer loop will be open to motor vehicles Monday-Friday from 9 am-2 pm. All other days/hours it will be open to pedestrians/cyclists only.

For example, today they close the gate for cars at 2pm. You can only get as far as Owen Beach with a car.

Here is a map of the park. Five Mile Drive & Trails - Metro Parks Tacoma

You can see there are 5 different view points beyond Owen Beach. These all have very steep cliffs.

The entire park does have a gate in front that closes off car access around dusk.

^ Thank you.
Do you know if there are cameras at the gate?

Agree @MsBetsy. I don't think a video is substitute for a body. You still need a case story ready before arrest. Driving that car at that time wouldn't be a crime in and of itself, I don't think?

It seems like arresting for a video would risk a shoddy case, and LE is wise to not do it. Those FBI forensic lab results are key.
I may have exaggerated a bit--but I do think if they have video of him driving the car, as it is being abandoned near his home, that he would have to have a very good story about why he was driving HER car, and she is now missing.

It is not against the law for him to drive her car, unless he killed her first.

Keys inside?! He left it in a shady area apparently, he must have wanted someone to steal it! Stripping a car is extremely lucrative and would help his situation a lot, thank god they found the car in time!

It’s rare when LE words it “homicide until we are proven otherwise” usually they keep it just as missing person until it’s CLEAR there has been a murder.
So giving it room to go back if they have to is strange.
The only thing I can think of is it’s for sure evident it’s a homicide specifically in that house or car and they don’t wanna spill ALL the beans at once. Moo
They may have found just flecks of blood, as opposed to a large amount that would prove it was loss of life. So finding just a small amount that was not caught during a clean up, might still indicate to them that she was likely murdered --but it is still possible she was just injured?
