Found Deceased WA - Leticia Martinez-Cosman, 58, last seen with man at Mariners game, T-Mobile Park, 31 Mar 2023 *arrest*

  • #21
Martinez-Cosman’s brother, Ricardo Martinez, tells KIRO 7 he has been searching all over the internet for any sort of clue that can lead to finding his sister. He has also gone to bars near T-Mobile Park and West Seattle with photos of the alleged suspect to see if anyone knows anything about this.

“It’s just been a big roller coaster ride. But I have been trying to keep strong,” Martinez said.

He says he and his sister have a close relationship, and that she would periodically come over to his home just to say hi.

“Just early morning breakfasts on Saturday and take long walks on the beach,” Martinez said. “She’s just full of energy and full of life.”

He said given the amount of research he has done, he believes the man arrested Thursday in connection to his sister’s disappearance was with her at the Mariners game last Friday. He also believes the two met a month prior to the game outside a Seattle grocery store.

“It’s something that we just do. And you have to keep on ... you just gotta keep focused,” Martinez said.

He says after Thursday’s arrest, he and family are holding on to hope about finding Leticia.

“At this point, he’s got all the answers and we are just waiting for ... to find my sister,” Martinez said.

I wonder if we'll get confirmation whether he was the guy in that backyard security footage.
I really think that’s the same guy as well
What a terrible case

This is awful, and JMO but there could be a lot more to this story. I guess what strikes me as odd is the fact that Patrick's very detailed story is being reported by his family, and not the police. But it may be that the police just haven't released the details yet.
RIP Leticia:( so sad for her and her family, she was loved:(

Editing to add that if the person arrested is the same man who went to the game with her, then oh my gosh, how absolutely evil that he then went back to her house to kidnap her son!! Honestly, this is crazy.
Absolutely strange about going to her house to harm the son. What was the motive for doing that I wonder. I also wonder if this is the first time he has murdered anyone. He didn't seem to alarmed by having his photo distributed to LM's family and if the guy in the burglary photo is him he didn't appear to hide any distinguishing features. JMO

Minor detail. But something is off on her weight. There is no way from those pictures that she weighs 135 lbs, especially at 5’9”.

Yeah, I’m a 5’9’’ female and I weigh 240 and she looks more in line with that, I wonder if it’s supposed to be 235 and is a typo?

So they met at a grocery store? This is probably a stretch, but considering he drives a bus for a non-profit, is there any chance he may have encountered/met her son that way? It was mentioned earlier that her son has special needs/is neurodivergent, maybe he rode the bus sometimes? Also, can I just say, how the heck does someone with a record like that get a job with a non-profit transporting people around town? Users of these services are sometimes isolated, vulnerable individuals.

i have a speculation that he was what i call a "hobo seggxual" meaning a man who plays bf trying to get a place to stay. since he knew where she lived and about the son i bet hed been around her house before. he was looking for a woman who was either lonely or vulnerable. what a monster.

Great question, what was the motive? Why do this? What was the plan??
And if there was no plan, if this was a moment of losing control, what could have motivated him to decide to go to her house and kidnap her GROWN son after whatever happened with Leticia happened? What could he stand to gain from entangling himself up even more? Whether he planned to hurt her or not, wouldn't he just want to get outta there afterward? Get away from the scene, get back home, get away, ect? Was he planning on killing the son but started having second thoughts/lost his nerve? Was he thinking that her son could report her missing and so he needed to stop that from happening? As others have said, it is just bizarre. The randomness of it is so scary.

The only small hope I have is that this guy could be exactly the type of weirdo who would try to keep someone locked up somewhere, and that would mean Leticia could still be alive. I know that's such a long shot, but it happens.

re: the son, I suspect Leticia took that selfie and maybe sent it to the son, or the son had seen him previously and could identify him. The police stated that her car had been found and the suspect is currently being charged with murder (I think his first appearance is scheduled for 2pm today) so they must have found something in the car that points to a murder having taken place.

I'm guessing he wanted to make sure the witness who could identify him wouldn't be able to. Meaning that whatever happened to Leticia, happened soon after the mariners game and before 2am.

ETA I've seen a lot of comments from trolls on reddit and Facebook that are trying to point fingers at the son, which I think is disgusting. The words used by law enforcement are that he was unable to confirm that the man who kidnapped him is the same as in the selfie, but that doesn't mean he's unable to confirm that the man is the one in custody. It could also mean that there simply hasn't been an opportunity to confirm.

I thought about that when thinking about his motive for involving the son in all of this but LM obviously has close family ties. Did he think he was going to move into her house and they wouldn't come looking for her there? The type of person you describe would most likely look for a single woman without children or nearby family so that he could establish some sort of residency before his victim is missed. In truth it would be very hard to accomplish without neighbors noticing someone new and employers reporting a missing employee. JMO

No, I don’t mean he was going to steal her house. He was looking to stay w her at her house. Obvs something went awry and hes an abusive idiot. The men I described often choose single moms and it doesn’t matter if the family lives nearby because they think they are so awesome they can gaslight and control the woman.

There are details/clarifications in here that I hadn't seen before:

"Early in the morning before she went missing, her adult son told family members that a man had woken him up in the middle of the night and told him that his mother had been hurt in a fall, and that he would take him to the hospital to see her, a source close to the family told FOX News Digital.

Her son got in the car with the man. They drove around for a bit before the man stopped, got in the backseat and tried to put a bag over Martinez-Cosman's son's head and tried to choke him, the source told FOX News Digital.

Her son was able to fight him off and get away. He was later found wandering alone in the woods in Renton.

He was unable to confirm to police whether his attacker was Gitchel".
Search still on for missing woman last seen at Mariners game; man arrested for investigation of murder

Ellensburg is over 100 miles from Seattle, I'm curious what he was doing there to begin with.

Around 2 a.m. Friday, her adult son Patrick, who is in his late-20s and has Asperger's syndrome, told family members that a man woke him up in the middle of the night and told him that his mother had been hurt in a fall and that he would take him to see her in the hospital.

"They drove around, made a couple stops," a source close to the family told Fox News Digital Thursday. "Finally he made this excuse to go to the backseat -- and that’s when he put a bag over his head and tried to choke him

It wasn't bad enough to kill HER. He also "had" to attempt to kill her son. Thank GOD he was able to escape this evil man.

Yep...so tragic. IMO

Brett Gitchel, 46, was taken into custody Thursday by Seattle police in the investigation of murder, kidnapping, assault and theft.

On Friday, King County Court found probable cause for attempted murder, first-degree kidnapping, second-degree assault, fourth-degree assault, first-degree theft and unlawful possession of a firearm to keep Gitchel in custody.

Gitchel did not appear in court Friday and bail was not addressed. He remains in King County Jail.

Police said Gitchel went to Martinez’s house on April 2, kidnapped her son and later strangled him after driving around south King County for a couple of hours.

Police said Martinez’s car was found on fire hours later. Seattle police said on Thursday that they are still processing evidence from a vehicle found in connection to Martinez’s disappearance.

The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office said it expects to make a formal charging decision when the case is referred to its office. The prosecutor's office said it expects to receive the required documents to make the charging decision by next week from investigators.

slowly its trickling out. i have thought whatever was found in the car would indicate she was murdered. i bet their was bio evidence he was trying to burn. and i think he threw her down an embankment or something because of his "from a fall" story. currently it seems they havent charged him yet w what was done to her, but they have w what he did to the son.
