Post #89 has the theory I am working with.

THe only thing that has changed since then is that I have found the court records that may relate to the person I call M and that Lindsey did not log into her Myspace yesterday. I still think that at the start this was a runaway case, but now I think that she might be in danger.

...Baum said she last saw her daughter when Lindsey, along with her 12-year-old brother Josh, headed out to Lindsey's friend's house in hopes she could get permission to spend the night at the Baum's house.

...Baum said her children began squabbling over the use of Josh's bike on the way there and were stopped by a family friend who sent Josh home to end the argument. Lindsey continued on to her friend's house. When Lindsey's friend found out she couldn't stay the night...

...When she wasn't home by 10, I started to get nervous," Baum said, adding that 10 p.m. is the curfew for her children...

...She began calling Lindsey's cell phone, only to find that her daughter had left it plugged into the charger...

... Scott said that there are a few businesses located just off the street Lindsey would have used to get home and while the little girl did not appear in any of the videos,...

...Scott said witnesses were able to put Lindsey within a couple blocks of her house just after 9:30 p.m. The last person reported to have seen her, he said, was a neighbor on her way to work...

That is a two page article. I snipped items of interest that I knew others here had questioned earlier. This fills in a lot of holes.

The people interviewed were Lindsey's mother and Grays Harbor County Undersheriff Rick Scott. I think the information if relayed factually can be trusted from within this article given who the people interviewed are. JMHO

snipped from above and bolded by me...

I wonder who this family friend was and if they've been cleared?

Above link is a video and some info. Seems to me like the moms are besides themselves with grief, going on camera, more than willing to take lie detector tests. I rule them out as having any involvement what so ever. It doesn't look good for this child - the only way she would be hiding out with an adult for 4 days is if she is captured and being held. mho As far as running away, she has no resources for the 4 days - no money, food, clothes, directions, cell phone. My heart goes out to all the loved ones who are in agony over the 'what ifs', 'if only', woulda, coulda, and shoulda's. mho

WHOA. Stop the bus. Can someone have a look at the friend's mother's facial language please?

Yes Lindsey's Mother looks like she's in shock. She looks stunned and she holds herself very still as if she's afraid she's going to lose control IMHO.

What is all that crying going on about with KK?

Do I think she did something to Lindsey? Not at this moment. But her behavior is out of the box. It's so out there, I can't help but turn my attention to her. She may be a red herring, but her behavior is off the charts IMHO. Wonder what's up with that?

Disclaimer:
Ever since S. Smith got on national TV and closed her eyes while she pleaded and whined for the return of her boys, any behavior like that makes the hair on the back of my neck pop up. What's up with the Lindsey "if" you're out there...sorry she's an odd one.

I agree - there was something fishy there. The lack of eye contact... and something else. I don't know much about the science of facial/body language, but it raises alarms in me.

It might not even mean she actually had something to do with the kidnapping, but may still have something to hide - such as giving the child some alcohol/weed while she was at the house (it is not completely unheard of), and doesn't want to tell, or gave her a loan or something to get away.

There is something going on in her face.

IDK. I work with a teacher that when she's really trying to stress the importance of an assignment she will close her eyes. I think the teacher I work with is just trying to concentrate on what she's saying without being distracted by those around her. Perhaps KK is just trying to be sure of what she wants to say, but I don't know for certain. I too remember Susan Smith crying with eyes closed for the camera.

MAY 29th - Lindsey wrote....
I've been getting a lot of nightmares latley and I have this bad feeling that something bads gonna happen...
Her mood - disturbed (what on earth causes a 10yo to have nightmares?)

Friday, June 26th

Day hours - Kempen(?) said her daughter M had spent Friday swimming with Lindsey and a group of other girls before returning to the Maple street residence...(where were they swimming)

8:15 - Seen in video store with group of friends - laughing & joking! (did they rent videos? and if so, where were they going to watch them?)

8:45? - Headed out to friend's house with brother to see if she could stay the night. Neighbor saw the two squabbling over brother's bike and sent brother home. (mom says Lindsey left without cell phone, money, or clothes).

9:00? - Lindsey arrived at friend's home and was told by both mom and dad she couldn't stay the night; she needed to leave because it was soon going to be dark.

9:15 - a woman on her way to work (car) saw Lindsey walking on Maple, between 5th & 6th street...about 1/2 way between the two homes.
Taken from Angel Who Cares post #233

Lindsey was leaving a friend’s house about four blocks away between 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Friday, traveling from Maple Street to Mommsen Road. Scott said a neighbor spotted her “two-thirds of the way home,” still on Maple Street.

“We have her coming back from the residence alone consistent with the friend and friend’s family,” Scott said. “We cannot put her to the main street here or to the street in front of her house. This wasn’t somebody who said she saw someone who looks like (Lindsey) or might have been; she was very confident it was Lindsey because she knew her and was on her way to work.”

The “main street” is South 3rd Street and it is a busy thoroughfare near City Hall, connecting to freeways in multiple directions. The police station is within sight of the intersection. The street requires a crosswalk and pedestrian control walking signals. On Friday, the streets were lighted. The sun was still out.

There is a Shell gas station at the intersection and a bus station with a bench that looked like it was in regular use at least on Monday. Scott said video surveillance at the Shell station are being reviewed. (a later post by Angel who cares says Lindsey was NOT seen on the surveillance of the Shell gas station) (eyes asks - could someone have taken her on a bus - pushed her into a car(?)

If anyone was waiting to board a bus between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., buying something at a local business or driving through the City of McCleary at that time, they should call the tip line immediately. Someone might have seen a car of interest and not even known what they saw until asked questions by investigators, Scott said.

10:00 - Lindsey's mom (car broken down) began searching for her daughter. She joined the friend's parents by car for the search.

10:45 - police called
Bold by me - Please feel free to add or change the info. TIA

Yes, the video thing had me curious, as well. I assume they just randomly decided to rent some movies, and had no concrete plan on when to watch them - most rental places have a 3 or 5 day rental price. I wonder if that's what they had? In which case, they likely left the plans loose.

I think she was acting weird too. The closing of the eyes, looking up while speaking.....

Has it been verified that Lindsay returned from the pool? Could some sort of accident have happened at the KK's house or under her watch and she is covering it up for fear of retribution?

I can't possibly see why she would want to intentionally harm Lindsay. She may know more about this than she is letting on though.

McCleary’s still searching
Tuesday, June 30, 2009 11:49 AM PDT
<snipped>
Tonight, two candlelight vigils are scheduled. At 9 p.m., a vigil will be held at the 10th Street Ballpark in Elma. A second “candlelight community prayer gathering” will be at 9:30 p.m. tonight at Beerbower Park in McCleary.

Scott said detectives have received one key tip. Shortly before the girl disappeared, there was a sighting of her by a neighbor who was heading to work.

Someone might have seen a car of interest and not even known what they saw until asked questions by investigators, Scott said.

Investigators have searched Lindsey’s computer, her e-mail and MySpace pages but have found nothing suspicious and no messages that she intended to run away.

Investigators combed cell phone records and have found nothing.

“We’re ready and waiting,” Scott said. “We just need that specific information that will point us in the right direction. Absent that evidence we’re just having to be comprehensive throughout. We’re having to look at it as a missing, lost or runaway child. But we’re also having to now focus that this may be a worst case scenario with a predator or someone with a predatory motive.”

Melissa Baum talks to a television reporter in front of her home while waiting for news on her 10-year-old daughter Lindsey, who disappeared Friday and has yet to be found despite a massive search. Next to her is Lindsey’s 9-year-old cousin Kimberly Taylor. “I know she’s alive,” Kimberly said. “I just know it.” Below, Undersheriff Rick Scott gives an afternoon update on the search Monday.

FBI And The National Center For Missing And Exploited Children Join Search For Missing McCleary Girl
Police Investigators First Suspected 10-year-old Lindsey Baum Had Run Away, Instead Of Walking Home From A Friend's House Five Blocks Away Friday Evening. But Now Concern Is Growing As The Girl Remains Missing Two Days After Failing To Arrive At Home
June 30, 2009
<snipped>
MCCLEARY - It has now been 4 days since anyone has seen 10-year old Lindsey Baum from the small town of McCleary, 25 miles west of Olympia. The FBI along with the National Center For Missing And Exploited children has now joined the search.

Lindsey disappeared Friday night as she walked from a friend's house to her own home. Her mom called police when Lindsey failed to show up around 10 pm that night.

Melissa Baum talked with Q13 Fox News Monday night. She says she's hoping against hope that her little girl will be OK.

She says; "I'm trying very hard to avoid thinking about what could be. My heart tells me she's alive. I actually feel like she's alive but every hour that goes by is getting harder and harder and I feel like we're running out of time we've got to find her."

"Everybody knows everybody's business and we'd have expected that if she was still in town. Somebody would have notified us and we haven't had that, unfortunately," says Dave Pimentel, Deputy Chief of the Grays Harbor Sheriff's Office.

Mother of Missing Washington Girl Begs Those With Information to Come Forward
Tuesday, June 30, 2009
<snipped>
Her mother, Melissa Baum, said on FOX News that "if anyone has seen or heard anything — any little thing that they saw and thought, hmm, that's kind of odd," they should call police immediately.

Baum said she's worried her daughter was kidnapped.

"They have informed me that they are expanding the search," she told FOX. "At this point, it's being treated as an abduction."

FBI agents have joined the hunt for Lindsey. Grays Harbor County Undersheriff Rick Scott confirmed Tuesday that the search for the missing girl is widening.

Scott told KXRO that several tips have been received and investigators would like to talk to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in McCleary, a tiny town of only about 1,500, between the hours of 8:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Friday when Lindsey failed to return home.

Authorities canvassed the city Saturday and Sunday but didn't find any clues, according to Scott.

He said there is no evidence of foul play, but his agency is "beginning to investigate with that possibility in mind."

McCleary Police Chief George Crumb told The Aberdeen Daily World that while his department hoped Lindsey ran off, "she's been gone far too long."

MASSIVE OPERATION
Search effort for missing McCleary girl doubling today
Published: 06/30/09 10:08 am
Updated: 06/30/09 10:20 am
<snipped>
Undersheriff Rick Scott said ground search crews will focus on specific areas on the outskirts of town, such as brushy areas that children are known to frequent. It's possible a child could become tangled in heavy brush, he said.

In addition, the number of people searching Tuesday will double and a Washington State Patrol fixed-wing aircraft equipped with a FLIR will assist in the effort.

Since Friday, police and FBI agents have been stopping cars, volunteers handed out fliers and Thurston County dive teams have searched local creeks. Other officers took the contents out Dumpsters looking for clues.

On Monday, K-9 units, search volunteers, police and a helicopter looked all day for the girl but found no sign of her.

Dive teams will continue to search small ponds and lakes Tuesday.

MCCLEARY, Wash. -- As the search for a missing 10-year-old girl stretched into its fourth day Tuesday, her mother makes a desperate plea for her safe return.
"If somebody does have her just let her go -- drop her off at a restaurant or gas station where she can get to a phone and call," Melissa Baum said.

More reinforcements were being brought in to assist in the search for Lindsey Baum, who disappeared while walking home on Friday from the small Grays Harbor County town of McCleary.

The State Patrol is now searching by air, scanning the ground for Lindsey with a heat-sensing camera. The video is being fed live back to the ground where officials can see the results in real-time.

Cadets from the Civil Air Patrol are also joining the growing search party, and police scoured surveillance videos from the town's businesses looking for any clues.

Search ramps up for McCleary girl
Tuesday, June 30, 2009

Washington State Patrol plans to utilize a fixed wing airplane with a camera to aid in the search for Lindsey Baum, last seen 9:15 p.m. Friday when she left her friend's house to walk home in McCleary.

Crews plan to focus their air search on rural areas of McCleary where kids have been known to play. The camera will be able to take live and infrared pictures of the brushy area.

Grays Harbor sheriff's deputies viewed surveillance video from a Shell gas station, where Lindsey would have walked past on her way home, but police found no signs of her.

On Tuesday, Washington State Patrol crews plan to bring in search dogs and their search and rescue teams.

Police have been frustrated by the lack of evidence. Investigators said it's possible Baum was kidnapped, hurt, lost or just ran away. They have not been able to rule out any of those scenarios.

On Monday the county set up a tip hotline for the public.

"We've gotten a lot of tips," said Grays Harbor County Undersheriff Rick Scott. None of those tips have helped investigators yet.

A field operations vehicle arrived at the McCleary Police Department in Grays Harbor County Tuesday morning as crews prepared to resume the search.

On Monday, Lindsey's mother, Melissa Baum, said she believes her daughter was abducted as she walked home.

“Each hour that goes by, I am starting to get more and more panicky,” said Baum. She said Lindsey wanted to spend the night at a friend’s house about six blocks from her own home, but her friend’s mother, Kara Kampen, told her no.

Yes - it's a rough time for any actually important news story to come out, these days. Everything is a tabloid right now, with only moderate chance of breaking some time soon.

Kat - it is odd. I thought the same thing you did when I watched the video. Kara seems to be taking some kind of responsibility for Lindsey, that in my opinion is not her responsibility to take. I have to wonder why. I didn't post anything, because I'm kinda letting the whole thing digest.

I wonder if some of her actions are because she knows Lindsey does not get along with her brother or something. But I'm not sure where I'm going with that. I would definitely like to see this family take the lie detector tests. Something is wrong here!
