Is that the pond with the round platform?

Yes, the (fishing) pond (Reflection Pond) is the one with the round platform and the tribune near (behind it would also be a "good" hiding place). I wonder how clear the water is and if you actually could see the fish. It seems they released fish in the pond for fishing. I can't reach this article myself, but this is about the release of the fish. 5,000 fish released into Sarg Hubbard Park pond

It sort of seems someone might have heard a splash or something if Lucian had entered the water?

Do we know how deep the pond is near the sprinkler where his scent was lost? I'm going to check.

I'm wondering if someone may have thrown something of his in--i.e. a shoe, etc, or it could have fallen in if they picked him up?
Yes, a splash. If the brother was near Lucian and see him last I really would like to know where his position was in relation to that pond. If he could have heard a splash.

And if he did not hear a splash, maybe seeing a moving ripple or movement on the water.
Assuming its normal surface is still.

So his hair is different than the original photo? It's short? Or did I miss a picture?
I understood his hair is a bit longer then his picture with the blue 'shark' shirt. it's upthread.

Lucian was last seen heading south and east across the park’s parking lot, in the direction of the river and other bodies of water.
This is the first time I heard that he was heading south and east across the parking lot.
Unfortunately, that puts Lucian on a direct trajectory towards the river. Or, at the very least in the wooded area that parallels the Greenway.
The other vibe this gives me is of Lina Sardar Khil, a 3 year old who vanished from a play area in her apartment complex in TX. She was last seen cutting through the adjacent parking lot with her friends. They returned, she did not. It has been speculated that someone may have been sitting in a vehicle and snatched her as she returned trailing behind her friends. She has not been found.

Do CCTV cameras cover that entire parking area at Sarg Hubbard Park?

You do have to wonder why he would go from playing with his brother to the parking lot.

Is there anything that way that could catch his interest? Obvious things, like an ice cream truck, a spot where older kids do something like skateboard or hang out on bikes, etc. I guess a person could have called to him or clearly been involved in luring him to the parking lot, but then it seems clear they have Lucian moving on his own, so they would know this, right?

It would be very helpful if there was someone local who could chime in.

[...]

“If you have him, just drop him off where he’s gonna be found and just let him go,” Lucian’s mother Sandra Munguia told KAPP-KVEW on Tuesday. “He wants to come home. My 2-year-old daughter misses him. My 6-year-old misses him. We miss him.”

Munguia said it started with a family trip Saturday evening to Sarg Hubbard Park in Yakima. Her husband, Juano, had just arrived with 4-year-old Lucian, their 6-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter.

Kids in tow, Munguia said her husband parked right next to the playground. He was changing their daughter’s diaper in the car as the boys got out to play on the hill, which she said is still within view of where they were parked.

[...]

Yakima Police Chief Matt Murray told KAPP-KVEW in an interview Tuesday that investigators found video that shows Lucian leaving the park in a southeast direction by himself and that they do not suspect foul play.

“He left the park by himself. That’s what we know for a fact,” Murray said. “What happened after that? Well, that, we may still have to find but we’ve had detectives scouring this entire area, looking for people with video, businesses with video.”

Good questions, @Beekarina. I am attaching there screenshots. One looks toward the playground from the parking lot. It shows a pavilion with picnic tables on the left. <modsnip - no MSM or LE verification of removed statement> In the middle is a building which may be restrooms that are closed. Out of the screenshot at the front left of the building are 2 porta potties. To the right is the playground.
In the second shot we see what would be Lucian’s view towards the southeast with his back to the playground. There was a large fire at the park in September of 2020. The playground, visitor’s center, and a lot of trees were burnt. The playground is new and a new visitor’s center is being built and slated to open in April of 2023. There is an exhibit entitled “French Gratitude Train” which you see as you look SE which contains what looks to be an an old railroad car. Was this what drew him? That exhibit lies at the end of the parking area and is the farthest you can drive into the park.
The third screenshot shows the burned area. I think there there is less greenery in the view that Lucian would have today than what was shown in screenshot #2. I am not sure of the date when the Google car drove through there.

In reading the Summer 2022 newsletter, (Newsletter - Yakima Greenway), it seems apparent that Greenway officials have been receiving complaints about safety in the Sarg Hubbard Park and along the Greenway.

They may not suspect foul play, but it sounds as though the father was alone with 3 small children. He was busy with the 2 year-old and diaper duty, and the 4 and 6 year old went off to play. I'm not at all faulting the father, but IF there was a predator nearby, that's an opportunity.

This is so puzzling? A person with a cute pet? There must be a witness or Lucian on camera of some sort for them to know he went this way alone? I'm bothered by all of the opportunities someone could hide.

That is true. Any busy distracted parent is a target.

Exactly. In a different angle of this view, there is a picnic table up on the hill behind those two trees. I don’t know if it is still there. Perhaps if someone was sitting up there, he/she might be blocked from the father’s view.
Questions we need answers to:
What direction was Dad’s car facing? If he was facing the playground, he would have his back turned to the direction Lucian was walking as he changed the diaper of his 2 year old.
About how many cars were in the lot at that time?
How long before Lucian was discovered missing?
Where are CCTV cameras located around the lot?
LE said he was seen walking SE across the parking lot alone. As @Beekarina stated, was he “seen” by a camera or a witness?
I am afraid that Lucian likely fell into the river, but I still have questions.

This may seem a strange question, but it Lucian obviously a little boy? With his long hair, might someone have mistaken him for a girl?

Quote from article

There was also a party going on at Sarg Hubbard on Saturday. YPD is asking if you were at that party or at Sarg Hubbard between 6:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on Saturday and took any video or pictures that may have caught Lucian in the background to email them to [email protected].

I wonder on what location this party was being held. Maybe they had balloons and Lucian likes that.

Were both parents at the park or just dad?

That's what I was thinking this morning-what would have caught his eye that he would go follow.
I always notice runaway balloons. Maybe Lucian did, too.
