Beattie shared with the crowd that Lucian had a special relationship with his grandpa, who passed away not too long ago.
He said there’s a kind of peace for family in knowing that after all the time they spent searching, they found Lucian on Dec. 29 — his grandpa’s birthday.
“Lucian’s family believes that moment was a special gift, not only to comfort them, still mourning the loss of Sandra’s dad, but also the loss of Lucian,” Beattie said. “And it’s a gift that begins that very, very long and probably never-ending journey of healing.”

No one can ever say that Lucian Munguia wasn’t loved. He was loved, not only by his family, but by the hundreds of strangers who came to his funeral to say goodbye and the thousands more watching from across the country.
