Why would anyone shoot firefighters going about their jobs? Bizarre. Sounds like a lone shooter. LE says no link to Decker, but it's early in the firefighter investigation.
Maybe a prepper.

Anyone else wonder if the active shooter situation in Coeur d'Alene, ID, in the west Idaho mountains is at all related to TD? I am curious if the FBI is considering this remote possibility as well.

The location is about a 3 day walk from Leavenworth, WA. There is report of a high-powered automatic weapon. LE does not know if there is more than one suspect. Two people are dead. There are reports of active sniper shooting. LE orders are to neutralize the threat.

This of course could be completely unrelated to TD. But what if TD remains in a psychotic state, has engaged in a battleground fight with first responders, has such a firearm, had sniper training in the army, headed east with his 3-day head start, and now seeks death by cop.
Geez I just popped in to see if anyone else thought of that!

Agree, and I believe he was cognizant and obviously mentally functional enough to evade a full blown man hunt by ground and air. IMO, he would not have done that so easily unless, 1) he has killed himself and is in a location they haven't found, or 2) had so prearranged the act and his escape that he was able to take the 3 day head start and leave the area.

TD makes me sick and raging mad. I believe he killed his young daughters to hurt his ex wife because she would not reconcile. I hope they find his remains somewhere and are able to put this to rest. WD (wife) needs answers so she doesn't live in terror of him popping up and doing the same to her one day.

Many combat military vets serve their country through extreme stress and trauma, but do not return home and slaughter their 3 innocent and darling daughters. They more often harm themselves. His diagnosis and whether or not he was on meds be damned. He refused therapy and anger management classes. He does not get any pass from me. He is a danger to others, find him, and punish him to the fullest extent of the law.

3 young lives were taken in brutal fashion by his hand, never allowed to grow up and experience life and become successful, loving young women all because of their own father's actions.

I want to know if TD was on medications, or not, when a bathrobe belt was reported tied around his daughter Olivia’s neck. And - per articles, it was around 2023, so I doubt she could have done it herself.

The more I read about this allegedly evil person, if he had gone off his medications I doubt he would be thinking clearly enough to strategize his escape. I think he would have killed himself not far from where the girls were found. Maybe with a 2-5 kilometre radius. MOO
I agree. I would like to think if he came back to any sense of "sound mind" or snapped out of any kind of psychosis spell - remorse might kick in possibly and if he killed himself he'd want to be close to his girls.

BUT this is wishful thinking on my part, assuming he would have any remorse at all depending on his actual psychological diagnosis which we are discussing.

IF he is still alive, and again if he felt any ounce of remorse I would truly hope he'd turn himself in.

If he has zero remorse and is completely void of that, he might be out for himself only and stay on the run. MOO JMO

Not my idea, I read about it or listened to it somewhere, but he might've taken his life in a tree and has not been found for that reason. Searchers forget to look up.

MOO
I have heard of this before as well. There was a case here in Canada, a young went missing from a party. Bullying and all kinds of theories.

Months and months later he was found up in a tree from accidental or self harm (unsure it was determined). I believe this was even in a residential neighborhood and not far from the party.

Perhaps TD did self harm and as another poster said, possibly close to where his girls were found.

If its a certified SAR person its instilled in our brains to not only look up, but also to stop and turn around.

I know early on I had read that a scent trail had been picked up by a K9 but the trail went cold... One thing I could never find when searching but I would like to know if the K9 that picked up the trail was a scent specific K9.

They are also utilizing HRD K9s now. But I have no clue how many K9s have been deployed or how much area was actually covered.

I know the information will not be released to the public but I would love to see the mapping of areas searched by certified personnel.

Agree. It is so outlandish to be shooting firefighters at a distance, it well could be the same person.
Not sure, @Boxer

The truth is, he could have crossed Idaho’s panhandle because he had three days head start. But I would not recommend any child killer to land in Idaho. The locals won’t take it lightly at all.

So I think he is elsewhere. JMO.

I have to admit the thought it could be Travis crossed my mind too.

Curious about everyone’s thoughts. Is Travis alive/evading or undiscovered/dead?

I can’t say I have a huge intuition about it. For the first few days I did have a feeling that he was “close enough”. Now I have none. Whether it means, dead or far gone, I don’t know. My logical feeling would be, alive but far.

I heard about this in Australia and did wonder

My guess is that they'll never find him and we'll assume he's dead in the woods somewhere but we'll never know for sure. :/

OK. That's good to know. And are SAR usually certified? I'm assuming they are in this case.

What's HRD?

It has been reported that the girls were becoming increasingly scared to TD and didn't want to spend overnights with him. The girls often called their mom crying during their visits.

TD stayed in the Armory with them and let them walk to the convenience store alone one night. Scary because they were so small, anything could have happened to them.

That was when WD filed to change visitation to no overnights. He had unsupervised visits every other Friday for a certain amount of hours.

The revised parenting plan in 2024 cited issues of neglect and emotional and physical problems on Travis's part.

As a result, the court ordered Travis to undergo evaluation for 'anger management/domestic violence' by a psychiatrist in Spokane and to attend counseling sessions twice a month.

The plan was also adjusted to prohibit overnight stays for the children with Travis due to his housing instability.

Whitney detailed incidents that contributed to the separation, including a situation on Aug. 15, 2024, when Travis allegedly found one of their daughters passed out with a bathrobe tied around her neck at his mother's house and failed to inform Whitney.

Another incident on Dec. 19, 2024, involved one of the daughters injuring her fingers, with Travis reportedly absent and unresponsive to the children.

At the end of the almost 30-minute hearing, Judge Jourdan granted Whitney Decker’s motion and temporarily amended the couple’s parenting plan. However, Travis Decker refused to sign any court documents.

The judge told Travis Decker signing the documents was up to him, but his order would be legally binding with or without his signature. Travis Decker also refused to attend any domestic violence psychiatric evaluations and assessments. Seven months later, Chelan County deputies found the bodies of his children at a campground 18 miles west of Leavenworth.

Sounds like active shooting is over. Unclear if the cases are related. Presser at 9.30p PT.

TD had a job working in Idaho according to him in the Sept 2024 custody hearing.

"I already only get a day and a half, two days, with my daughters, and it's two nights. It's a Friday night, Saturday night, and because of my current job and the current location, I'm in Idaho working. I am in the U.S. [Carpenter's Union], so where I go, where the work is, is where I come.

Because of IDAHO, it would make a lot of sense, if it was him setting a brand and shooting innocent firefighters. Just like that (or similar) I imagine TD's end of life, although I don't know him. MOO

The gunman who killed the Idaho firefighters is dead. I believe it would be public by now if it were TD.

LE announced they were building a profile of the shooter. If it was TD, they already have it. Will be interesting to discover why anyone would target firefighters. Another undiagnosed mental problem?

This, of course, would be a nightmare for Whitney, his ex-wife. She would always be looking over her shoulder, I would think. I mean, if he could kill his daughters, what would keep him from coming back to get her because she refused to reconcile with him. I hope and pray that they find him, dead or alive.
