Does Washington get turkey vultures? Not sure it's a thing for sure, sometimes if seen can mean something deceased (don't quote me on that info). MOO
Yes. Washington state has turkey vultures.

I don't have the link handy but the references I saw seemed to indicate in the general area where the family resided. I don't think any specifics were given as to exactly where he did the off grid hiking/camping trips.
Dead in the crags probably.

From your article:

[This] photo depicts a marshal in similar camouflage, poised with a long-range precision rifle mounted on a bipod. He is in a seated position on a rocky, uneven surface, with jagged mountain peaks behind. This image suggests the presence of specialized tactical units involved in the search.

KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash. — Kittitas County law enforcement officials said there is “no certain evidence” Travis Decker is alive or in the area, as the search for the man accused of killing his three daughters enters its fourth week.

Dead in the crags probably.
Agree. I think he offed himself in a place they'll never find him and died enjoying the fact they'll be 'searching forever not knowing'. jmo ~ I'll be super surprised if they find him alive!

Good to hear a cadaver dog is joining the search for Decker. I don’t think he is with the living. And, I have maintained that since the beginning. He is out there somewhere, probably closer to where the girls were found imo.

However, I have been wrong before.

“Some search resources are being redirected to find and recover Decker if he died in the rugged wilderness during this intense search—a possibility that increases every day,” the sheriff’s office added.
Paityn Decker, 9, Evelyn Decker, 8, and Olivia Decker, 5 are depicted from left to right.

“They did not see him as an immediate physical danger to his children despite the fact that he had a well-established history of mental health issues and had they…seen it that way, those children might still be alive,” Whitney Decker’s attorney, Arianna Cozart. “That’s the thing that is so brutal, and the one thing that she’s really hoping can be changed in this tragedy.”

“Because of the ruggedness, the remoteness of the of that country, and some of the conditions that we’ve observed, it’s clear that the longer he stays out there — the longer anybody stays out there — the greater the chance that something’s gonna happen, and whether he intends it or not, that he’s gonna die.”

It's a very difficult rights issue, mixed with the idea of reducing the expense of managing people with MH.

He is that kind of hateful monster!

Yes, @Gemmie, we are certainly discussing several unremorsefuls on other threads. 🥺 They exist!

RE Trav: I feel like he’s slipped over the border into Canada. Some folks UT mentioned a number of places at the border where that would be possible. Shave, dye his hair, drop the earrings, wear sunglasses — might not be easily recognized. JMO.

It is very possible he is in Canada or an entirely different state. He had a 3 day lead.

Cadaver dog joins manhunt for fugitive dad accused of killing three daughters

This is a good thing. As we know, the tracker dogs are different than cadaver dogs.

Curious if this is a protocol or process for due diligence or maybe there's a clue he met his demise.

BBM. Per articles, there is no evidence that he has been alive for at least two weeks. There are a lot of things they would consider evidence, including the obvious of sitings, footprints, broken beaches, etc and also items missing, even small items from homes, campsites, etc.

So, this would be a next step. A recovery effort. It does not mean that he is even in the area, he had 3 day head start, but it does mean there is a possibility that he has indeed died. He could have died by his own hand, misadventure-falling, starving, drinking bad water, etc.

*sigh* Photo staged just for show, I think. The sniper would have to positively identify Decker before shooting and Decker looks like a million other guys, especially at a distance, and Decker would have to hold still long enough for a sniper to target him, compensate for the wind, angle, and distance, and then pick him off.

I think they’re trying to instill confidence, but they lost him.

I think, he won't give up. Whether he will die at the end, isn't his problem at the moment. Anyway I believe, he is too much a coward to end his life himself. Suicide by army (or police) maybe his wanted final solution. MOO of course.

I want nothing more than for the searches to find TD's remains and put an end to this search.
WD deserves answers and some finality, because she'll never get closure IMO.

“I think the bugs are probably causing him fits if he's up there. I mean, we know that it's certainly becoming that time of season where they're out in force,” Sheriff Morrison tells PEOPLE.

...

The sheriff adds that if for some reason Decker is no longer alive, he’d still like to find him to “bring closure to not only the family, but to our communities.”

The US Marshals service has turned their fugitive-finding resources to the task of finding Decker if he’s left our area.
Respectfully snipped by me, thanks for this thorough update, @UsernameRequired

I think ^^^ this possibility ^^^ (TD has left their area) is a good one, and it could have been a ruse of his own making that he would be doing the survivalist thing nearby.

It seems like they've spent an extraordinary amount of time & resources pursuing him around there and following up on "dozens and dozens and dozens" of tips in their words (that's a lot of dozens!!), and he could be long gone and up in Canada having changed his appearance.

Maybe included in one of his hidden caches of supplies his father said he was known to keep, he had a stash of cash and MREs and an unregistered motorbike/off road ATV, so took off right after killing his daughters and sped for the border, dumped the bike into a crevasse and hiked across the border, and is living a new life as a blond vagabond fisherman.

JMO
