Since I posted this idea I really wonder if there is a person, love interest, or a group of people in Idaho that TD knows and can trust to help him?

There's lots of anti-establishment folk / preppers / survivalists living off the grid incognito in that part of the world. If he got to an alternative civilization / society he could disappear into oblivion...

IMO.

I was even thinking maybe a spot he has a fondness for or sees as a safe place... or related to a good memory. A landmark or natural setting.

Perhaps maybe somewhere he went in his childhood or youth before he got so messed up.

It very well could be IMO. I was in the front yard once and 2 dog walkers walked by and said "Go Canada!!". I was like... "Huh? What was that about out of the blue?". Turns out I was wearing a Sweater with Canada on it (garage sale for a buck or less). Then it made sense but until I realized what I was wearing, I was puzzle by the outburst. lol

Lol, I own a monogrammed sweater that says "Reginald." I am not a Reginald and I don't look like one either.

Imo drywall is a pretty hireable trade though, and if he DOES have that skillset, it's something to be aware of. His name might ring a bell in the PNW and Mountain West, but I asked a friend in NY if she'd heard of him and she had no idea (she's not a true crime follower).

How long would a pair of sneakers hold up? Hitching a ride would lengthen that life span. Why would he choose the kind of footwear you walk through? A headstart but zero preparation? That might fit with psychotic.

If the sightings are legit, like everyone here, I'm curious how he'd getting around, where he's trying to get to, and whether he has an endgame.

Good point. Even just switching to utility easements and train tracks would save the shoes. Depends a lot on what kind of "sneakers" they are. Hitching rides would be best.

And oddly, I do think that if he went to some truck stops and kind of met kindred (loner) people, people who want company but ask no questions, he would get the occasional ride. And that's all it takes to save one's footwear.

Of course, I'm super curious about the endgame and admit anything I can envision is just made up out of few facts.

I know there must have been many tips coming in at the time the lady first called, and maybe her tip was given attention, but what she reported might have seemed a bit outlandish to LE because of the distance. I wonder what her physical description of the individual was like.

I think it makes a lot of sense. Carpenters and joiners. Didn’t he work as a carpenter in Idaho? Might have some other qualifications, too. Lacey is in Southern Washington, on I-5, just before Olympia, the capital of WA state. It so happened that the state was expanding NE. But now, it seems, there is a lot of construction in the South direction. I wonder if he worked there, or maybe attended one of Washington state fairs in Puyallup and got the shirt? We also don’t know where he lived when he aspired to become the ranger (there are some military bases to the South as well).

I guess his military buddies have been interviewed, and likely, coworkers in Idaho, too. But perhaps he did work as a carpenter somewhere else before Idaho? There might have been a moment when he was still functioning but starting to crumble down.

She appears to be an excellent witness. Practical. Noticing details. Connecting loose ends. Not doubting herself; just called WA police because it seemed the right things to do. In a way, it is good that he is out of WA and in Idaho. They are farmers and hunters. They notice things. Too bad that WA LEO did not pay attention to her call, misguided by own theories. I didn’t believe that he’d end in Idaho; I thought he’d cowardly avoid this state. It would be great if he is caught in Idaho, but I understand it would be a miracle. One hopes.

Where’d he go next? Wyoming, Utah or Nevada? Could he be intentionally staying in foresty areas?

The Canada stuff could have been a ruse, but imo if he didn't have a great plan for accomplishing that, and he decided to hitchhike to put distance between him and the scene, he might have just taken the first available ride, which happened to be going south or east. Couldn't wait around for days in populated areas in hopes of finding one going north. And also imo he might be getting scruffier-looking and dirtier if he waited, and less likely to get any ride at all.
