Deceased/Not Found WA - Rachael Anderson, 40, Clarkston, 16 April 2010 - #5 *C. Capone guilty*

I do remember that! No testimony that I have seen/heard.. and not sure it has even been brought up since back then? I also don't think that the Durango was used in everything Stone is saying it was used in. WHY would he use his own vehicle. Holes in that in my opinion..
Capone's ex... as in Faith? Not sure on her testifying .. but I think it would be a good move if she did!

Is the Durango also white? I shall dig for the link, but think it was stated as a white SUV that police were asking about when they were searching in the Colton area? First time I think we heard Stone's name dropped and did a collective "huh?"

or I may have 2 different instances confused. But somebody popped up and stated they saw a large white SUV running a stop sign at the highway near town early one morning(??). Problem is, white SUZs are a dime a dozen.

I don't get either why he claims his SUV involved in everything, unless he suspected that LE knew something before he started to tell the "truth." It does him no real favors.

ETA: one of stories regarding possible sighting of the Yukon, but there another story related somewhere.

More ETA: the other story was from the Lewiston Tribune, on or about July 31, 2010. Because I don't have a subscription, can't get at it, but to paraphrase what LE was quoted as telling them, they had a witness who saw a white SUV come out of the Colton area about 4am on April 17 and turn on to Highway 195, and that person noticed them because they were headed to work and the white vehicle didn't stop at the stop sign.

No mention though of Stone at that point.

1forevry1 do you still have access to Tribune to pull a couple paragraphs and quote the story directly?

Yes, her. She had plenty to say here about him, why not say it in court?

Unrelated case history? I don't think they can bring in the weapons charges and conviction or his previous felonies either.

Even if there are police records on it, I don't think it's allowable?

I also can't remember if it was white.. but if they had any questions about it at all, it wouldn't be sold now. Which leads me to believe there is NO evidence that vehicle was used/spotted in any way shape or form. Right?
You are right tho... white SUV's are indeed a dime a dozen!

I also agree.. have thought many many times about F. Her trauma with Capone.. she surely has a lot to say... helpful or not... the man is a monster. And should be portrayed as such as much as possible!

OK, magically I figured out how to bring over a post from an old thread, and OT, but wasn't it awesome when threads used to be like 11-13 pages long? That said, I hope this one is allowed to run to trial conclusion.

This was from the Trib story. Link to it is now 404 and history. It was a VERY long, and grand story about the search and how the task force was not going to give up on finding Rachael.

Police have named Capone as a person of interest in the case, but no charges have been filed in connection with Anderson's disappearance. Officials said he hasn't been talking to the Rachael Anderson Missing Person Task Force since his attorneys got involved.

Several members of the task force gathered in Colton Friday morning to begin the latest search for the missing woman. Nichols divided the group into four teams and handed out notebooks with color-coded maps and a list of questions to ask residents in the area, along with photos of Anderson and vehicle descriptions.

"The reason we're searching here is we had a witness who saw a white SUV come out of this area about 4 a.m. on April 17 and turn on to Highway 195," Nichols said. "The witness was going to work and noticed the white vehicle because it didn't stop at a stop sign."

Nichols knocked on the doors of farmhouses, and asked occupants if they saw anything suspicious or unusual around the time of Anderson's disappearance. She asked if they noticed any fresh digging, tire tracks or burn marks. She inquired about abandoned silos, root cellars, ponds or old garbage dumps in the area.

The caravan of unmarked vehicles left a trail of dust participants included four special agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Detective James Fry of the Moscow Police Department, Detective Tim Besst of the Latah County Sheriff's Office and two cadaver dogs and their handlers, Ronda Bowser and Doug Huffman of the Clearwater County Sheriff's Search and Rescue dog team.

Word of the search spread quickly among neighbors in the bucolic setting. "Everyone knows we're here," said Darrell Bone, an ATF special agent. "We're rolling up to houses and people are saying, 'I was wondering when you'd get here.' "

After receiving a command, the cadaver dogs jumped out of a pickup truck and headed to a well at the first stop. Pandora and Kanobi didn't show any indication there was a body in the area, which turned out to be a time-saver for the searchers. Lifting the heavy lid off the well would've required pry bars and lots of manpower. A nearby pond also came up empty.

But the ATF agents are confident Anderson will be found and the case will be solved.

Nichols is also optimistic about finding the Clarkston woman. After hiking through a field to a cistern, the energetic detective was eager to check out another tip from the property owners. There's an old well up the road that could yield some clues.

At the site, the dogs were released, but no scent was found. Phil Druffel, a 73-year-old farmer, stopped by to offer some suggestions. A lifelong resident of the area, he spoke of an old slaughterhouse, a barn and other places that may be of interest. "You're in my prayers," Druffel said as the search continued.

The dogs got back to work at an algae-covered pond with easy access from a main road. "This would be a great place to conceal a body," said Nichols as she walked around the murky green water ringed with neck-high cattails.

No body or clues were found at the site, but the searchers got another tip from one of the other teams in the area. The caravan headed to the last stop of the day, an old farmhouse at the end of a dirt road filled with ruts. Surrounded by apple trees, the setting is remote and eerie, even in daylight. The cadaver dogs circled the premises, but didn't get any hits.

Nichols was not discouraged. "I really appreciate the fact Sheriff (Ken) Bancroft allows me to dedicate time to this case. I feel good about today's search. We got the information out and it will keep this case in people's minds when they're out working in these fields."

"I don't think people realize it's really hard to hide a body," added Todd Smith, an ATF agent. "They don't stay hidden forever."

Anyone who has information or tips to offer can call Nichols or Capt. Dan Hally of the Asotin County Sheriff's Office at (509) 758-2331.

No idea either, but it may have come up since the trial began. Am not feeling the urge to go find it since the sighting near Colton appears to have gone nowhere anyway.

Oh yes, and Capone's phone call to her a day or two after the murder when he proclaimed he was thinking about moving back to AZ. At least the prosecution has hinted that Capone was maybe planning to skip town when he oddly put the new tarp on credit and then immediately wanted to pay off the account and further close the account.

Only reasons I can think of she wasn't called to testify is she either didn't contact LE about the case, or it simply isn't allowable history so they couldn't use it. Heck, even Rachael's texts on Capone's iPhone could not be admitted as "fact" but only to again show state of mind.

So far, nothing in his legal history (prior convictions) has been allowed that I recall.

I know this defies logic, but I can't shake the feeling that Capone and Stone are both lying about where they put Rachael, and it was not in the river.

Actually, I don't think it defies logic at all, and testimony related to that in the last few days told me the doubts I had were likely even more founded.

Other than the fact she wasn't found in the river and LE went so far as to wrap up a dead deer and drop it off that very same bridge to see where it might end up.

Might be some truth to her having been dropped into water, just have my doubts about that actual bridge. Even when criminals lie, lie, lie, there are sometimes kernels of truth in there.

As often as bodies seem to surface in that river though, it would sure not be my first thought for "body will never be found." Even with 50 lbs of added chains.

The more I think and the more I hear.. the more I read into it ... the more I agree. They are leading EVERY ONE on a wild goose chase. We have ALL said it many many times.. he is WAY TOO CONTROLLING ... not to know where she is.

I want to know what the loud bang was that Tim Fountain and others said they heard.

I agree that Stone is probably still lying. What a nasty piece of work he is... and to sit there and proclaim his Christianity was just offensive. I hope he serves a lot more time.

I guess this answers the question as to the color of Stone's Durango? Presuming "truck" here means SUV.

Finally we hear about video from DynaMart and know that at least one vehicle was captured. Perhaps video also answers whether or not the Yukon was initially parked in one location and later moved to another to support Stone's claim the Yukon was not found where he saw it being parked. Would be lovely to hand the jury some nugget of truth from the last 2 days' hog slop.

#CaponeTrial: Cop says Dodge truck has same distinguishing features as Capone's. It was captured on Dyna Mart cameras in Lewiston 4/16/10.

not much for tweets of USE today. Who was the first witness boys and girls? And what did the city worker have to say about the chains in scrap pile? Or was that just to verify they throw old chains there? Who cares how long the Stones were married or where they met Capone. How about what Alisa had to say about the night of the April 16, 2010? She must have been asked much more than if her husband acted "normal" when he came home. Time frames?????

Apparently only one reporter bothering today. Nuggets designed to make you pay to find out what happened. Guess we can hope for another decent report with KREM's noon show or stories and videos posted this evening.

Will be interesting to see if NBC Dateline produces a story from this trial.

AMEN and AMEN to Misty's comment. County Fair won out today over live blog of this trial.

HOW does that happen... who picks the fair over this! And WHY can't someone else blog! COME ON! It's just entering key remarks! I WANT to know what Alisa said! I want to know what questions were asked! DAG NAB ITS!!!

Reading between the lines here, I take this to mean the Durango was seen on video from the DynaMart as it exited, turning left, and thus west on Hwy 128. Not the direction one would turn to go back to Moscow.

Sgt. Aston says a Durango was westbound toward Red Wolf bridge at 11:20 pm on 4/16/10 on Hwy. 128. #CaponeTrial #RachaelAnderson

Wish we were privy to this video!

Who thinks he's telling the truth? I think they knew what their story would be IF they got caught .. and this is just all for show.

So long as LE can hand out a few nuggets of evidence, like a white SUV coming and going at DynaMart and apparently departing to the west, it gives the 🤬🤬🤬🤬 some credence. I'm certain the prosecution planned with care to follow him with LE testimony that would back up anything he said and still trusting they will end on a "solid evidence from LE on the stand" moment to leave the jury with.

Now will defense take an entire week? Will Capone be put on the stand? Will he bloviate on and on a la Jodi Arias?

Rhetorical. I hope no such thing happens!

With you, fingers, toes and every thing else is crossed that the "solid evidence" is a face punch no one is expecting (but us!!!!)

Rhetorical or not ... I just hope defense doesn't bore the jury to sleep... and its pins and needles for Capone AND Stone. I hope Stone has to eat his plea agreement.
