WA WA - Seattle, WhtFem 30-50, 159UFWA, UP12916, alias 'Mary Anderson', copper IUD, breast surgery scars, Oct'96

Learn more about this case on DNASolves.

The photos the public has access to are from the crime scene when she still had the make-up on. Her DNA analysis by Othram showed that she was of Persian ancestry and had ancestors in Iran and parts of Afghanistan, so we know she was of Middle Eastern descent.
Well the colour composite looks nothing like a woman of Middle Eastern descent IMO. It’s misleading IMO.
She could have been a refugee or migrant.
The only website that has a lot of people listed as missing from the ME that I have come across is ICMP MyFace, which only has photos with no names.

Genetic genealogy with this biogeographical ancestry is not straightforward but we will get to an answer.
I sent my tip into Othram! Hopefully it is reviewed. She fits a lot of the available info and is also iranian, specifically of persian ancestry. She also had access to a doctor's office due to her line of work. I also included a possible explanation regarding her alias well. If it is her, it makes sense why she ended her life, and wanted no one to know, unfortunately. <3

We are on it.

I was looking at a wanted fugitive out from LA. She is Iranian and is of Persian descent. I have compared a photo of Roxanna to 'Mary Anderson'

Roxanne Bahrololoomi
Wanted For: Grand Theft
Sex: Female
Descent: Iranian
Height: 5'07
Weight: 165 lbs
Hair: Blonde
Eyes: Brown
Date of Birth: Jun 12, 1964

From the LAPD Most Wanted website:
"Suspect embezzled over $43,000 in workman compensation settlement checks belong to several doctors. Suspect deposited funds into her own personal account."

www.lapdonline.org/all_most_wanted/most_wanted_view/12927

I can not find the date when she committed the crime and when she fled apprehension. All I know is that the warrant was issued in 1997. I can not find any news articles about what she did. But it appears she had access to doctor's offices as well seeing as she stole the checks from their office.

Bahrololoomi was 33 when charged and she was born in 1964. But if she committed the crime in 1996 and fled, this Jane Doe could be her. I have seen other cases where the warrant was issued close to 2 years after the crime was committed so the date of a warrant doesn't confirm that the crime itself was committed in 1997.

Another interesting thing I found was this from the interview with Dr Katy Taylor the original king county forensic anthropologist regarding this Jane Doe.

"but what I think might be the most likely explanation is a character named Mary Anderson on the soap opera days of our lives. That character was on TV pretty much daily in the seventies and eighties and it's entirely possible that our Mary would have watched that show."

Roxanna was enrolled at CSNU in the 80s. I thought maybe if this Doe was Roxanna that she may have picked up this name from watching the soap during her time in theatre/film/tv also being in California at that time.

She is quoted in this news article
https://digital-collections.csun.edu/digital/api/collection/Sundial/id/16997/download

I also wondered if the label from the prescription bottle was removed because it too would have connected this jane doe to the doctors office where Roxanna embezzled funds.

Mary Anderson Jane Doe is also much younger looking that her photos apparently, also according to Dr Katy Taylor

The one drawing that's up on most of the websites has her looking, the way she looked made up, which is much older. She had a tremendous amount of makeup on when we took off all that makeup. It was startling to me how much younger she looked. Really startling. I've never had a case where somebody looks so different without makeup, and I'm contemplating, I work with a forensic artist and I'm thinking of asking her if she would an updated sketch. Actually, I'm going to do that because with the digital format and the technology advances we can probably produce a more realistic photo of her. Of course. I don't know if people knew her made up or they knew her without makeup. I think it's time for some updated recreations. Maybe one of her made up and then one of her without the makeup just to see if that jogs anyone's memory.

Other things I found:

This case from 1992 but I don't know what this is for.

I also found this: It was updated in December of 1996, I can't tell when her comment was made but it was about the persian gulf.

Persian Gulf

From: Roxanna Bahro [email protected]
Dear Mr. Harrison,

I have just read the text of your letter with regards to the Persian Gulf. I am lead to believe it was upseting, at best, and menacing. I do apologize for the over zealous tactics of my fellow countryman!!
with regards,

Roxanna Bahro

Wow, great researching @Aurora90, you certainly looked at this one in depth. I can see a resemblance in the eyes.

I considered this lady. She went missing from Brazil in 1981. The weight and appearance (except the hair colour) is similar to Seattle Jane Doe.
ICMP - International Commission on Missing Persons
Her name isn’t listed though, and she’s from Italy.

I wonder if it’s documented anywhere if she had an American accent or not? This could help determine if she’d been living in the US or recently migrated.

She's been listed as having no noticeable accent, according to the hotel workers and the cab driver who dropped her off.

Thank you, although I can't lie I am disheartened that I got excited a bit too soon. I do think she is Iranian/Persian though.

I look forward to this Doe being identified one day.

I thought this could be her until I got some lovely assistance from @Keiri who was able to help me find this news article in 1997 that likely precludes her from this discussion now.

I am sorry if I got everyone's hopes up. God knows I got my own hopes up. =(
I think Roxanna and and Roxanne are two different people. One born '64 and one born in '44. Maybe her mother?

I understand how you feel, I really want to help identify her too.
If she had family in the Middle East it’s going to be difficult. The government in those countries have a lack of reporting and investigating missing persons.
I’m hoping she’d been living in the US for a few years at least. I just don’t get how no one came forward saying they knew her.

She apparently had no children. Likely moved to the US with a spouse and likely divorced. Probably a situation, where she may have become isolated from friends, acquaintances etc. Ex-spouse probably lost contact and didn't look for her.

Unless she had family move here also, I don't see how she will be identified.

Was the makeup off in the post mortem photos? In those photos she looks to be in her mid forties to early fifties IMO. I can’t get past her being Middle Eastern or Greek, it’s just
a hunch.
Another thought I had was that possibly post mortem bloat in the face could have smoothed out any lines and made her look younger. I don’t know what the effects of Cyanide have on the skin either.
RIP to Katy Taylor. @Aurora90 I hope your lead is on the right track, and you can share it when you’re ready. I feel so sad for this woman, who felt like there was no hope and died alone like that.

She doesn't look Greek at all; definitely more Middle Eastern.

I do want to point out something regarding the phone number and address: The thing is, Mary used actual zip and area codes in New York City, but she mixed them up to make it harder to trace back to her.

As for her breast surgery, she may have had breast cancer and had to remove all of her breast tissue. a lot of individuals who had breast cancer often get implants.

Also, why did she take so many things with her?

It could be possible that she can be one or the other. She looks Southern European-Middle Eastern (considering that she has eastern iran and Afghan DNA)

She sort of resembles my grandmother from my fathers side, mostly because of the hair and how its orange and curly. She looks a bit Albanian to me.

i see, but i cant see her hanging them up to be honest she was logical and methodical , got rid of all id etc and i would think , would think whats the point of doing that....also in the case of the cyanide its a convulsing death before you actualy die, so why did she look so serene on death, no movement of the body or bible from her, which there should have been with cyanide as it causes convulsions and fits before death, horrible death indeed .?? yet she looked so serene, that doesnt make sense either.? never has for years lol.
Good questions! I'm thinking if she was methodical, as we can see she was, hanging up clothes in a suitcase would make sense to her and be more or less a reflex action. Also, all the velour suits were said to be brand new (unworn) and again just a thought maybe she wasn't sure she would actually go through with it? As for cyanide, while convulsions "can happen" it varies from person to person depending on their tolerance to it, how long she was exposed, how she took it (orally, dermally, or inhaled), in what dosage to produce her death, and type of cyanide too! There are some great research papers written on cyanide poisoning from various environmental agencies, and universities as well as health departments. I myself have wondered if the taking of the crystal light and Metamucil (having an empty bowel and stomach) as well as partial dehydration might have played a part in it all too. Might be she took some sleep medication to help her go into a heavy sleep to assist in her heart failure or inability to breathe? I'm sure since it's still an open case there's so much we won't know about the case. I was thrilled to see two 25 year old cases were solved by Othram. It would be nice if our Mary is solved before her 30th anniversary of her death a year from this coming October. I hope since I'm up in years to be alive to read about it. She's been on my mind for all this time.

Yeah, the nose in the more recent sketch appears too small to be anything besides northern European, also the eyes are really small and brows are too small (barely extend past the middle of the eyes) The original sketch (on NAMUS) shows a longer nose and the brows extend past the eyes (which is the case in almost everyone of ME descent)
Her brows were "over plucked" as was a style for far too long in my opinion LoL Her eyes sunk in due to the cyanide and some of the things she was taking (Metamucil and drinking Crystal Light). I think she looked rather dehydrated. No listing of time of death, although it appears she was probably there for awhile in the room before they accessed the room so her skin would have started to settle back from her face. Her coloring was dark also due to the cyanide poisoning.
