Your information pointing to ‘Mary’ possibly being diabetic has lead me back to a MP that I have looked at before. In reviewing my notes from this case, I feel that Barbara Rushton could be a candidate. Barbara happens to have been a diabetic who required insulin at the time she went missing in 1984 (from AL). There is huge weight difference between the two but at this point, over two years have passed.
Her daughter told investigators at that time prior to her disappearance that her mother wasn't behaving normally before she left for her card game - she had a blank stare and was upset and crying. I am wondering if she may have left on her own to escape her life at the time. Once investigators started digging deeper into her life situation, they discovered she had already resigned from her job.
A little over two years later, Mary is discovered in a hotel room in Seattle. This could be a little far out there but could also be a possibility.
‘Mary’ was reported to have brown eyes and Barbara reported to have blue eyes. However, decomposition can change the appearance of eye color to brown in just a matter of hours depending on the temperature. The eye color itself doesn’t change but the breakdown of the tissue does. Hazel, green or blue eyes can all appear brown after death.
Ultimately, ‘Mary’s’ true identity will only be discovered and confirmed with DNA or even dentals but take a look at Barbara and her case. Thoughts, comments? No way, never or possible?
