Very well put, thank you! For those of us questioning her behavior that night, it definitely has a lot to do with her past behavior as well. She was obviously a negligent mother, can anyone really argue with that?

IF she was drinking with her child in the car, yes.

No proof of that yet.

  • #162
But from a LE standpoint, there is not proof that she died. There are other avenues they are investigating because of things we don't know about. As well as things we've all been questioning that don't make sense (the purse, overnight bag, etc).

IMO

And I really hope they get the leads that they need to uncover the answers b/c this case has me somewhat exasperated & definitely stumped.

Yes it was in a comment on an article. No there wasn't a subsequent comment that I've seen - there was another article that mentioned the comment and redacted parts of the comment rather than quote it in full.

I'll have to go searching on the other thread(s). Seems I recall someone posting two separate comments claiming to be the same person. One mentioned the waitress thought she was drunk, the other didn't. It wasn't clear that the waitress voiced her observation at the time, and in any case, it was an anonymous comment made online ;)

Did he say it was his when he identified the other items? I don't remember that.

It wasn't reported that he did.

I drive a Toyota mini-van ( I'd rather be driving a 4-Runner, but oh, well, I bought the van when I was hauling my kids & all their friends from one end of the earth to the other on camping trips & whatnot).

The only time I ever open the hatch is when we're on a trip & we've stowed our duffel bags & other gear back there, or when we go to Costco to stock up on enough food to last until kingdom come.

That back hatch being open tells me that items were retrieved from the back of the van.

IMO, it couldn't have been opened at high tide, due to the water pressure.

The side sliding door, yes, because it wouldn't be moving against the water. But not the back hatch. IMO, that hatch was opened before the tide came in.

Yes, there was a discussion and someone posted a link to the article containing the comment with redactions, some people had trouble finding the original comment because it was on the 2nd page of comments, and then they were able to find it. There was only one comment.

"Wantmy, I work at the Martin way diner..your stepmom and Azriel were in about 9 pm Saturday. They ordered a corn dog and tater tots to go, and payed for them, but while I was cooking their dinner, I watched them get up and leave. I didn't think too much about it, but they never came back. My waitress asked me what should we do with their order, and I told her to just wait..they might come back..My waitress told me that the woman seemed drunk, but the kid told my waitress. "Mommy hit her head". We wondered if she might have a concussion. We reviewed our security tapes, and she fell down outside the restaurant. She might have had a concussion..I don't know if she was a drinker or not, but she didn't order any alcohol at our place..I hope they're ok..I ended up taking that dinner home for myself, and it eats at me that I might have take azreils last meal.."

edit: ok, I see this quote from dreamweaver was from someone named replying to "wantmy" on the comments. see p. 2

The van backed to the water's edge, rear door raised and (sorry) clearly wipers and fluid used to clean the windshield of mud. Something ain't right here...

Ah ok. I thought they meant they were posted on different news sites.

The original comment is on one news site. The article containing the redacted comment is on another.

We don't know. But we do know that they left the comment (see the date) before there was any mention of Shantina and drinking/alcohol/relapse at all.

Here's a diner link...looks like this is the original comment @ The Olympian.

the way that commenter uses "my waitress" and refers to eating that "dinner" as well as that Shantina paid for the food and all, it sounds like the owner/manager or supervisor. hmm. wish they would interview again

I swear there was an audio interview with the waitress describing her experience with SS. She does say she acted drunk. That was before anyone knew of the relapse or of the wine. However, she described a number of ways she was acting - one included intoxicated, but was not limited to that. Little Az told the waitress SS hit her head.

wow. interesting. one says she seemed drunk. kid tells the other one she hit her head. commenter mentions concussion. sounds like they served alcohol there, too--even though she didn't drink there, she stopped at a place that served. even still she didn't drink. weird. maybe she did or didn't know that? lots of wonder-whats... maybe LE will give us some info abt any further investigating they have done over the past day or two tomorrow.

that would be consistent w/ the commenter's version, although the commenter says that Az said she hit her head & commenter says he/she thinks a concussion may have been the case. then again they serve alc. then again she didn't partake. apparently, even w/ the two conflicting accounts of why the behavior, it was *strange* enough to warrant, according to the commenter, them watching the surveillance tape. hmm. interesting stuff.

Yes, I mistakenly said it was the waitress. I'd forgotten it was the other employee referring to the waitress. I don't think either of them have been interviewed by the press. I too wish they had been.
