To be honest, it doesn't really matter to me how people choose to earn their living, or behave, if it's not illegal or hurting others or something.

But I think Sky's mom has a duty to be dignified and credible, if she really wants help to find her son. Sky's dad has overcome some pretty difficult circumstances to do that, but he's managed it.

What she has been doing is undignified, and her refusal to provide any comments, attend vigils, ask people to help with searches is simply not credible. I know her attorney has said she has done everything she can, but I don't think she has, in comparison with parents of other missing children. There are moms out there still appealing for help in finding children missing 30 years - or more.

I found this study really interesting.

I just wanted to add that I found that report interesting because it is a detailed study of stranger abduction/homicide of children. What caught my eye is the stats - around a million children reported missing each year, but only from 40 to 150 actually turn out to be stranger abductions. And then an end result of homicide is much, much less than that.

So statistically speaking, the odds against Sky being a victim of a stranger abduction are astronomical. Nevertheless, police in Sky's case do seem to have taken all the right actions required for a stranger abduction. Yet didn't find a single lead.

That's a puzzle.

I was just looking back through old articles. Although Nadia Biryukova, Sky's grandmother, took 23 days to first speak to media about him ( that seems a very long time to me), she did say she would give everything to hold him in her arms again.

But.....she doesn't seem to have done a single thing to help find him since then. No interviews, no vigils, no walks, no flyers and no appeals to the public. That is very sad.

http://www.king5.com/news/local/sky...s-silence-on-grandson-134709358.html?ref=prev

And here in this article, Sky's greatgrandmother in the Ukraine appears to blame Solomon for Sky's disappearance. That seems surprising, given the facts of the case. I notice the reporter had to use a translator, and that suggests to me that relatives there may not actually know the entire story. Or even half of it. If they can't read English and articles haven't been translated, I wonder what they have heard, and from whom?

http://www.king5.com/news/local/sky-metalwala/Biryukova-relatives-in-Ukraine-134364563.html

I met a nice Belorussian the other day, and he said he was sure it would help a lot if a few translated stories about Sky's disappearance could circulate in the Ukraine, because a person never knows what information might come winging back across the ocean. Julia's family seem to have the language skills between them. It might seem a bit far-fetched, but anything's worth a try, isn't it? They should do it. That is, if they really do mean they would do everything to get him back. A bit of translation doesn't seem like much to ask, to me.*

I don't think it is worth appealing to Julia. In my opinion, she has made it clear she doesn't want to help, and is living in a dream world where she is the honest and open, penniless, single-parent victim of a bitter divorce. Waiting for a rich prince to rescue her from a situation that is none of her fault. Even though she doesn't have either of her children with her and it is her husband taking care of the child who isn't missing - without any financial support from Julia.

Very sad indeed! The entire maternal family (and friends) have remained silent. I think their silence speaks volumes. They HAVE TO know something! The only reason to not talk, and cooperate with police, is so they won't incriminate Julia. JMHO

I think the fact that Julia was so "distraught" that she couldn't take a lie detector test or speak with LE again is complete BS. The only thing that she was "distraught" about was the chance of being caught (tripped up, if you will) when speaking with LE. It has been nearly 2 years since Sky disappeared yet she hasn't once come forward to ask LE (to my knowledge) about the status of her baby boys case. She isn't so "distraught" now that she can't seek employment and look for a sugar daddy. In her ads, IIRC, she seemed like her life was on track.

IF I lived on that side of the water, I would have asked to interview her. Just so I could have asked if she has any children to see what her response was. Does anyone know if she is still posting for employment? If not, it would lead me to believe that she has found employment/someone to care for her.

WHERE ARE YOU SKY???

In this article by the National Parents' Organization, Solomon's attorney says she was living on welfare payments, so I guess that's still the case? He says that her mental health issues left her unfit to work, according to info submitted during the divorce/support proceedings, and points out how those same issues didn't seem to be taken into account when she was awarded custody.

In retrospect, it seems a foolish decision. But it does seem as though right up until Sky vanished, only Solomon had a real sense of danger - and I don't think for a moment he considered one of his children would actually, really be disappeared from the face of the earth. In his early interviews there seems to be a sense of disbelief, and he appeals for Julia to return his little boy.

Has anyone seen the latest development in the case of missing tot Elaina Steinfurth? Remains have been located in the garage roof space of a family home that was searched several times.

This also happened in the case of murdered Tia Sharp in England - her remains where found in the attic of a tiny row house that had been searched many times.

No-one seemed to detect any odour in either case.

I can't help just wondering now about attic and roof spaces in Sky's case - does anyone know if attics were thoroughly searched, and anything about the design of the apartment block, or if the roof spaces were accessible?

Checking in on our Sky--sorry to see no real news. Forever in our hearts, Sky... We aren't giving up. One day closer.

I have read your post carefully. In that case many things are not clear.
1. If she was depressive, suicidal, not enough healthy to work, which social services decided to give her children, My opinion that person is same responsible for Sky disappearance as J.
2. Investigation on site was very slow. As I know they even didn't search landfills as I read that after few days it is impossible.
3. She doesn't act as mother, any time.
4. Grandma same.
5. There are some dark mystery about that family.
6. For me just me it looks as she is somehow privileged.
or
If I am wrong, than Julia knows where her son is.

Dearest Sky Happy Birthday.
I light candle, I am with you in my thoughts every day.
It is so painful not knowing are you happy. Do you miss your sister and daddy. One day ...

All those people are with you, trying to help. I hope that one day when you come back you will be surprised how big loving mammas, dads, grandmamas .....family you have.

just bumping

I want JB to tell LE what she did with Sky. Put enough pressure on her, and she'll talk....I'm sure of that.

Elaina's remains were found relatively quickly. Sky has been missing for almost 3 years now. If his remains were decomposing in JB's house, there would definitely be a smell now.

Where could he be? And, why isn't Julia cooperating? Isn't that suspicious to LE? It certainly is to me.

My biggest concern (I've said it before) is that this case is going to drag on until the possibility of lesser charges are no longer viable (statute of limitations). I'd rather her be charged with something than nothing. November will be 2 YEARS that Sky has been missing. Yet Julia (and her family and friends) have moved on like he never flipping existed. :banghead:

Is it possible that his case has become a 'cold case'? I hate to think that way, but what is LE doing? Are there any new searches? I wish KlaasKids or TES would've been called. I'm not sure it would've done any good, but it certainly wouldn't have hurt.

Hey everyone! First, I just wanted to say that you all are amazing for your dedication to Sky. He's just precious and I don't blame you for getting attached to those eyes! <3

I also wanted to bring forward something a former mod came up with. It has a TON of great ideas on what to do when a case has no news. Which unfortunately is the case here.

The reason I wanted to post this here is this: "Bumping" a case is fine. There's absolutely nothing wrong with bumping a thread, and I've done it myself. However, when done with such frequency as is seen in Sky's thread, it causes people to stop checking the thread. Someone will see Sky's thread on the front page, check for news, and see a "bump". A few days later, it pops up again. Not news, just "bump". Same thing the next day. After a while, they stop checking. And then, if there IS news in Sky's case, people unfortunately won't click. Now, please know I'm NOT asking you to stop bumping the thread. Like I said before, it's not against the rules and is definitely okay to do. But here are some other ideas to use as "bumps" that people may want to review. Or it might spark an idea or something.

(Even if something's been done before, we're on thread #19 here! You can dig it up, or do it again.)
WOW, SWMNBN! :seeya:

what a helpful, thorough list of "Helpful Hints" for threads with no new news for an ever so long time...!

Like Sky's!

Hi Guys, :newhere:

I recently joined WS for another case. But I was SO SO happy to see y'all have a thread going for Sky. And so touched to see how much love and prayers and good wishes he has coming from everyone. Looking through some of the posts on here - Wow! You guys have covered a lot of ground. So impressive.

Sky's case is pretty special to me as well because I live in the same town where he lived with his mother. It was BIG news around here when he first went missing and I followed the case faithfully every day. It just ripped my heart out seeing his sweet little face all over town and wondering where he might be and if he was okay. Needless to say, from DAY ONE I/we suspected his mother. It was MADDENING to just keep waiting each day hoping for word, while scanning every little face that we saw....just in case. :banghead: I even ran into Solomon in one of our local stores a few weeks after it happened. He looked so sad. :(

I can't believe it's been almost two years since then. Crazy! I was SO afraid that soon the media would stop reporting and that the pressure on the case would ease off. And honestly, here in town, it feels like it has. There a few posters around town that one sees every now and then. A couple times a year, there is a vigil or a brief news story covering him again, but as far as I know, that's about it. I know people haven't forgotten those precious little eyes, but it kind of feels like they have.

I think most people here believe Julia is guilty - they just aren't sure of what. (I know I sure as heck do!) Some think she murdered him (God forbid) and some think she has him in hiding. But it seems they've all, except for a few, given of hope.

So it's SO encouraging to come on here and see that people are STILL talking about him, remembering him and asking "WHERE IS SKY??". :yourock:

I would like to "join in" with your awesome thread here and share the love and concern for baby Sky (who is not so much of a baby anymore). :tyou:

Thanks everyone.

I thought I should come back and say that if I wasn't supposed to say anything about Julia being the guilty party (my opinion) or if I offended anyone by saying that, I'm truly sorry. Feel free to mod snip that right out if it isn't allowed. I assumed it would be because she was named as a POI. You will have to forgive me...because people around here freely talk about the case and speak of Julia as the culprit, it didn't occur to me till later that it might not be acceptable to say that on here. Sorry in advance, if that's the case...I will learn the rules. Promise. :p :)
