WA - Theresa Bergman (Found Deceased) and Charles Bergman (husband) - didn't arrive home to Moses Lake - 18 Sept 2022 *Arrest*

I wonder if LE already know that Charles has left the state - since they have issued a "nation-wide extradition arrest warrant"? It seems to me that they should let the public know where Charles was last known to be. He has family in Florida.
Good catch! I'm pretty confident he isn't headed in my direction (Olympic Peninsula) but I do wonder if he's crossed into Canada. Seems like he had quite a bit of a head start though we don't have a well-detailed timeline yet.

I live about two and a half hours away from Moses Lake, and it's a desolate area. You wouldn't go for a scenic drive at 1 AM, as there would be nothing to see. Moses Lake Area It's unlikely they missed a turn off, IMHO it was intentional to leave I-90. For whatever reason.
Came here to say this. I love over in Spokane. Nothing scenic at 1am to drive out to see. it’s all sage brush.

Have to wonder about Idaho?
I was thinking of the more logical routes to escape. I was thinking east through Idaho and towards Montana was one. Going north to the border, would be another. It's unlikely he would head south, IMHO. The quickest way to get somewhere without cameras is probably to head to Idaho and Montana. He could've headed back through Spokane and gotten to Couer D'Alene rather quickly.

There are plenty of back roads and less traveled ones to get to Idaho, but hard to say how well Charles knows Central and Eastern Washington. It's easy to get turned around on the country roads in the dark, just look at Brandon Swanson. It would be poetic justice if Charles got lost on a backroad and ended up in a culvert. Having driven on the back roads at night myself, it's easy to lose track of where you are, and usually the only way to turn around is to do a three point turn on a narrow road. Easy to go into a ditch if you're in a hurry. Which I imagine he would be.

Court documents suggest Charles Bergman may have murdered his wife after she returned home from New York, where she was visiting an old boyfriend.

LSCO deputies spoke to GCSO as part of their investigation. During their conversation, deputies found video of Charles Bergman buying a small metal shovel at a Grant County Walmart on Sept. 17, one day before he picked his wife up from the Spokane airport. A family member later told police that their online Walmart account also showed Charles Bergman purchased some type of rope and took out a $500 cash advance from his credit card prior to picking up Theresa Bergman.

I suppose I was wondering if this was a planned trip for Theresa or one that was unexpected. I question if it was a visit to see a friend or to attend a workshop. Maybe it was a trip to see family. Was it a trip that Charles didn't want her take?
I am trying to get a handle on what precipitated the events that followed.

I agree. I think this will be the key to Charles's motivations.

And there seems to be the motivation. (MOO, of course.)

What a sad story. Condolences to Theresa's family.

From your link:

Grant County detectives said the injury on Theresa Bergman's head is consistent with a shovel strike.

A GCSO deputy spoke with the Bergman's daughter on Sept. 19. According to documents, she told detectives that her parents were married for approximately 36 years and that her mother had recently asked Charles Bergman for a separation. Their daughter told detectives her father "became very depressed and contemplated suicide since Theresa's request to separate."
Oh man... apparently Theresa's son was supposed to pick her up from the airport and bring her to his house to get her car but plans changed to Charles picking her up.

It looks like a premeditated murder. MOO.

What did he think he was going to do with the shovel and the rope he bought? Did he think he was going to kill her and then bury her body?

I agree that it was premeditated. He probably began planning her murder when she left.

Thank you so much for posting this link, this fills in a ton of details. What a tragic situation all around, a family completely shattered. Their poor kids.

It just goes to show once again you really never know what goes on in private behind the masks people wear each day.

Oh, how I wish Ms Bergman had remained in NY. How sad for her that the man she'd been married to for a lifetime, picked her up from the airport so he could kill her.

Sincere condolences to all who loved her and especially to the son who was going to give her a lift from the airport but plans changed. I pray he doesn't beat himself up over the way this incident happened for his precious Mother. Sometimes the best made plans are changed by a madman.

Looking at his ATM photo, I see a stubby goatee. I don't think he's clean shaven. I wonder if he's wearing reading glasses, or he wears those all the time. Other than having a widow's peak, he looks pretty nondescript. More likely someone will spot his vehicle.

As I said in a previous post, I doubt he headed south, but it sort of sticks in the back of my mind as I am south east of his last location.

Is this man serious? Buying rope and a shovel with a credit card the day before you’re expected to pick up your wife from the airport in the year 2022?!
