Interesting that both shows are airing on the same network. I wonder if they are both going to imply BDI, imply that Burke didn't do it or maybe 50-50?

I think it could just be a coincidence that they are on the same network. We are pretty certain that Burke went on Dr. Phil because he is represented by Lin Wood. I believe that The Case Of show is airing on CBS because the producers pitched the idea to all the networks and CBS picked it up. Of course it's possible that CBS programming executives were talking about possible new shows and this idea came up. I think it is very likely that since the shows are produced by different people and different studios, it might just be a completely that they both ended up on CBS. I don't think we should write off The Case Of until we see it.

That trailer just knocked my socks off! It looks absolutely amazing in my opinion! They got Kolar on board, they spoke with the 911 operator and looks like they will focus on every aspect of the case and the ransom note. They even reconstructed the house, it's incredible. The fact they show how crazy the basement window theory is clearly tells it's not an IDI affair. Can't wait for the show.

Dr. Phil gave an interview...

“I think people are going to be very interested. His personality is very unique. I think they are going to find him compelling. It’s going to be very difficult to look away from.”

Burke has a....unique personality?

Okay I'm calling it now: Burke will show no/little empathy towards JonBenet's murder on the show.

I am basing this on:

1. His attitude after she was killed
2. His father saying he has moved on with his life and doesn't really think about it
3. His parents not allowing him to talk about it...so basically told that it wasn't a big deal
4. Never putting any sort of tribute to his sister on social media
5. Dr. Phil saying he has a unique personality...compared to other people who have lost family members to murder?

It's also possible that Burke is still pretty shy and timid and not comfortable with showing his emotions on national TV/to the entire country.

I realize some of this might be reaching, but it's just my prediction.

I expect and already see hints of the same sneaking smirking he's known for. He reminds me a bit of Martin Shkreli. JMO

I feel like things are about to blow open the way the Cosby case did.

I think we should stop criticizing him because in reality we don't know anything about me. Why should he have a tribute on social media? Not everybody in the world handles things the same way. Only him and the people close to him know what he really thinks or feels.

I might have to watch this....

As much as I detest Dr. Phony Phil, I will have to record so I can watch it. I am not expecting any revelations. He is doing this because he knows what a loser Phil is and probably figures he'll get treated like the Anthony's were. The fact that his father is also being interviewed is the give away because there is no way he would be involved if it was going to be a serious look at the evidence.

I am more hopeful for the CBS special, but I have been disappointed before. so we will see. It's going to be interesting anyway. Hard to believe it's been almost 20 years and the same old ridiculous lies are still being pushed.

eileenhawkeye,
BBM: mmm, did he not mean a weird or even geeky personality, sounds like BR could be somewhere along the autism spectrum?

chlban,
I get the impression, likely wrong, that Dr Phil will do his Sigmund Freud on BR, in a tabloid manner but that BR responds not as expected. e.g. Has the passing of JonBenet had a lasting effect on you? Probably some of BR's replies will be put down to his unique personality and particular perspective on the case.

What's different here is we have never heard from BR, we don't know what he is like, that's the attraction, I've read somewhere that he has his mother's personalty, more extrovert and outgoing?

I have suspected that for a while based on stories and transcripts of his early interviews. I think he could easily have Asperger's Syndrome, he sounds a lot like several of the children I've known that have it. A lot of what people seem to count as his "strange" or "suspicious" behavior screams Asperger's to me.

B00kw0rm,
ITA. Not certain about Asperger's but somewhere on the autism spectrum would help explain his unusual behavior. Since unique personality would be an apt description for the various ways in which the same autism aspect can manifest differently in people.

Hi, first post. I've mostly been reading old threads for research and ignoring the new ones but that CBS special is making me think things are finally heating up, maybe it's time to start keeping up with the new discussions.
To begin, I agree with those who suspect B may be speaking out to get in front of some bad publicity. Kolar's book has been lurking in the background for a while now and with these specials and the anniversary it's inevitable that the revelations from his book will get more press, especially now we know he's participating in the CBS special. And a lot of the book's revelations have to do with Burke, such as:
- the multiple anecdotes about his strange affect/lack of concern after JB's murder
- the poop issue
- his behavior and responses during the soon-to-be released interviews, particularly the part where he seemingly re-enacts the blow to JB's head just days after her murder
- his prints being with Patsy's on the infamous pineapple bowl
- and of course the 911 call. From the trailer it appears for the first time we will not only get to hear the enhanced call (since they played a clip of John saying, "We're not talking to you!") but they will also interview Kim Archuleta, the operator who took the call and reported to her supervisor about hearing something strange at the end of the call. That blew me away when I first read it. If it's actually played, team Ramsey HAS to explain. And who better than Burke?

Kolar has always been very careful not to explicitly talk about Burke in his media appearances and I doubt he or anyone will go all out with the BDI theories this time around. (And personally, I'm not sold on BDI; I'm equally suspicious of all three and think a lot of BDI evidence points just as much to him simply knowing too much about the crime/being a witness as it does to him being the culprit.) But the many and varied issues regarding Burke and the lies his parents told about his presence during the 911 call, why he pretended to be asleep that morning, expressed no curiosity/concern about his sister's "disappearance" then murder/the cops being in the house, etc etc etc will come up. I'm sure his refusal to talk to investigators (including Kolar, need I remind you) in 2010 will be brought up by CBS as well as the issue of Kolar wanting his medical/psychiatric records. It would behoove Burke to be able to explain all that to the best of his ability.

Which leads me to my theory of at least one of the reasons why he may have picked DR. Phil to play 20 Softball Questions with: perhaps he will reveal he DOES have Aspergers or some autism spectrum condition as people have long suspected? For me personally, a lot of his odd behavior makes more sense (and seems less incriminating) if that is the case, and these syndromes are no longer as stigmatized as they would have been in 1996, 1997. He'd gain public sympathy at this point and be able to use it as a defense not only of his behavior but also his parents' extreme protection of him to the point of lying: lying to protect vulnerable, innocent Burke from public and police scrutiny. Dr. Phil can help explain his behavior away with pop psychology. Just a hunch. We'll see.

I have always personally believed he is on the spectrum to some degree. Just an opinion. PR appeared not able to deal with having less that "perfect" kids. I wonder if this was ever addressed, if he got any help. At one time he was seeing a therapist or something but I don't know what for. Island of privacy...island of BS. JMO.
