Was the carpet removed from Lisa's room?

vlpate.... I need to really stretch my memory banks...

iirc there is a thread from the search where we were all posting what we were seeing from the live feed I am sure there has to be some info on that...

I do recall that some of the outlets only had one camera view and another one had two views... in the one with two views you could see much more around the side of the house toward the garage like building... (which is where you could see the carpet rolled out with them doing something to it))

that being said, once the dogs were brought in you couldn't see squat (couldn't see the dogs either which is a good thing imhoo to protect the integrity of how they search, etc)

I have to run for a bit... but when I get back I will bump up some of those search threads if anyone wants to plow through them)

Thank you - and I'll look for the live feed links too. Interesting that they rolled out the carpet and then brought in the dogs. I hope there were comments on the live feed as to what color the carpet was.

BEM: I agree.

BEM: Great point. What else would you NOT do if you're baby girl had been abducted in the middle of the night and you heard nothing and you don't know anyone that might have done it?

Go on national TV, showing off your boys - unafraid the abductor, possibly KILLER that is still out there and may come after them, thinking they might know something
Sit on your bum for five months surfing the Internet, crying about what's being said?
Talk to a local PI off the record, not asking him to help, just trying to set the record straight with MORE lies
Have family tell the PI to go away, they don't need his help
Stop talking to LE after 4 days
Sit submissively by while the (ahem), NY Investigator does absolutely nothing but perpetuate spin in the media - the NY PI who didn't even enter your home until 27 days after your precious baby vanished
Say you're going on Dr. Phil to talk about new leads, and then refuse to talk about new leads when asked -- on the show
Lie to LE about the timeline
Refuse to let two possible witnesses talk to LE, the boys
Alienate vigil organizers instead of praying with them - yeah, I know, the one was getting angry at DB, but why? Because of all of the above!

What would you do?

Talk to LE, separate, together, standing on your head while chewing gum -- whatever it takes
Plead for the public to help every chance you get
Fire the NY PI
Demand more physical searches
Something, anything

You're so right Hambrig, I wouldn't call LE liars, I'd be beside myself with fear and grief.

Do they want to find their baby or not?

An innocent parent would be horrified by a cadaver dog hit. It would imply their precious child is dead. Their attitude isn't. . .well prove it.

I can guarantee you, if my child was stolen out of their crib in the middle of the night and LE told me they got a cadaver dog hit in my house. I would be afraid to be there. I would be a mess. I would probably not even fathom how I could possibly go on. My reaction wouldn't be to say. .did you verify that with another dog?

i just wanted you both to know i appreciate and thank you for these posts. both are an exceptional and faultless summation of this case imo.

i thought i'd check the 3 search warrant threads for any possible carpet discussion... found the beginning of it... thread #1 - the first i checked :woohoo:

Just jumping in here:

In checking the photobucket acct provided to us by Amanda B., I see the carpet in Lisa's room is chocolate brown.

I have to check my other computer which is not available at the moment but my memory tells me there was no carpet in her room during the Dr. Phil Show.

ETA My eyes are tricking me. I see a carpet in Lisa's room on Dr. Phil now and it appears to be a plum color carpet and looks brand new.

On Dr. Phil show, Lisa's room was redecorated. It is definitely a plum colored carpet.

here's a different pic of the rolled carpet from the search... maybe a blowup would give more color information? i don't know how to do that though...

Looks brown to me, and it looks like the right size to be from Lisa's room.

... why would LE roll it up, carry it outside, unroll it, then vacuum it, collect fibers, or cut a piece of it???
They could have done all of that inside the home, much easier. Why go through all of that?
Therefore I have to believe that the carpet came from the shed.

I would think they needed more light than was inside her room. I also feel it could have been an intimidation tactic, wanting to instill fear in DB or JI, or both...

presuming the carpet was in lisa's bedroom, a couple of other possible reasons:

--weren't there garbage bags over her windows blocking the natural light?
--more room to maneuver around the carpet without walking all over it to process/test
--by removing it and processing it elsewhere (and really where else in the house would there be room to do this?), other techs can then process the rest of that particular room allowing two things to be done at once

It's really tricky to tell the color. It does look pretty dark. I was looking for other warrant photos this morning (trying to see if there are pics of more than 7 items packaged as evidence to satisify my own curiosity) and found another pic, it looks like this one is after the unrolling and rerolling, the carpet looks much more loosely rolled than some of the other pics.

I left the link on the google image search because it is bigger that way. :)

We don't know that. Chain of custody is passed from Federal to State and vice versus in gun/firearms cases quite often. The prosecutor will have to decide at some point where the accused will be tried. Federal charges usually carry a stiffer penalty. But sometimes the prosecutor will use that in a plea agreement. . .ie. . agree to charge on the state level if the defendant agrees to plead guilty. The agencies work together and the evidence would pass from one chain of command to the other at the appropriate time, when jurisdiction is determined.

There could be evidence kept within the federal chain of command, especially anything involving those phones. There is no hard and fast rule that that evidence can't be properly passed to state officials if need be. Like I said, it happens all the time in drug and firearms cases.

There is a good pic in this photostream of an FBI ERT agent. http://www.ctpost.com/news/article/...missing-baby-s-home-2230163.php#photo-1688524 Wonder if the lady with the clipboard is FBI too. Curious to know of they are gathering evidence and preserving it in the FBI chain or local LE.

Since we all saw Lisa's room prior to the big search, it was clear the carpet was dark brown, at least to me. On the Dr. Phil Show, it has been changed. Where the old carpet went is anyone's guess.

If there was a rug in the shed (who saw that?) and it was carried outside in front of the house, they must have had good reason to do so. Perhaps they had to check for fibers, etc. to see if Lisa was rolled up inside of it at one time.

It appears that Lisa died in that house and her body was stashed for a time before disposal. Between the FBI cadaver dog hit and DB's fear of going into the yard, I suspect they thought Lisa may have been placed in the shed at some point. If the carpet was in the shed, then it would have to be ruled out as a hiding place.

I would think they needed more light than was inside her room. I also feel it could have been an intimidation tactic, wanting to instill fear in DB or JI, or both. Fact is, they moved everything around in Lisa's room and then someone moved everything back. The only reason to take apart and move the chest of drawers would have been to move the carpet, why else?

BBM

What if it had been raining outside? No, I don't believe they took it outside for better light. Don't the detectives have lights they can set up for this type of purpose.

I think the carpet did come from the shed, not BL's room.

Regardless of where the dark brown carpet came from and went to, it is not in Lisa's room. The carpet in Lisa's room has been replaced. The plum carpet is wall to wall. I imagine the dark brown was also.

I can't imagine storing carpet in your shed outdoors. If they did, I would hope it was just put there because the heat alone would break the fibers down. Wouldn't it have made more sense to keep it in the basement than outside?

can is it possible for someone to link or insert the pic of lisa's room with the plum carpet? thanks :)

Does anybody have a screen shot from when they had the carpet laying in the driveway? I thought I had seen it, but now I can't find one.

I'll tell you why I ask. It looked to me like the carpet was laying flat. I was in the construction business for 7+years. Anybody that has had an older roll of carpet laying around knows that the backing gets stiff. If it has been rolled up for any length of time it won't roll out flat. It will want to keep it's shape and the corners will stick up. IIRC that was not the case with this carpet. IDM had said that they remolded at least over a year ago. If that carpet was a remnant from a remodel over a year ago. . it would NOT roll out flat on the driveway. It would want to be keeping it's shape and be all wonky with the corners sticking up.

Absolutely great points. And it's so true. I've had carpet rolled up for a very long time and that same thing happened. However, another carpet I had, that was only rolled up for a short period of time (when we were re-doing a room) rolled out flat. Thank you hambirg, once again!!

LE was seen carrying carpet OUT of the HOME.

Lisa Irwin Search Warrant Reveals Cadaver Dog 'Hit'

Read more: http://www.kmbc.com/news/29552254/detail.html#ixzz1pRX6j8Y8

"On Wednesday, investigators in white suits walked in and out of the Irwin home all day, carrying bags of evidence and what appeared to be X-ray equipment. They were also seen carrying carpets out of the home."

From KCTV5
"The cadaver dog alert is one of the reasons police got the search warrant to go back into the home Wednesday for what the detective writing the application called "a more extensive, intrusive search."

"This affidavit explains why KCTV5 crews on scene saw investigators removing carpet from the home and brought in equipment to X-Ray the walls and floors. It also sheds light on why investigators spent hours digging in the home's back yard while restricting news helicopters from videotaping overhead."

Seems like the carpeting came from the home - where did we get shed?
