I do not feel that most of Baez's motions were unreasonable. I'm glad that the judge granted 7 of the 9. In regards to requesting Casey have the ability to search for her daughter: I think there was a two-fold purpose for this motion. One- the public has been asking "Why isn't Casey helping in the search for Caylee?" I think that this motion makes it clear to the public that she can not physically go and search for her daughter at this time. Just making the motion in itself speaks volumes. Two-if the motion is granted, then it will allow Casey (In Baez's eyes) to assist with the search of her daughter with the information that she and Baez have (the info that she has withheld from the police). If the motion is denied- she can't be judged for not searching because of the physical restraints of her bond agreement. JMO

No one expects her to physically search, we just want her to aid the LE in the search by giving truthful info, names, places.... She has stated she knows where Caylee is but was fearful for her saftey if she talks! Come on. I don't think most parents would sit on their hands if their child is missing.

It is really best that the court/prosecution gives them all of this nonsense that they want. Then it can't be said later that they withheld evidence that could have proven her innocent. None of this discovery stuff really matters. He's going to get it anyway. Let Baez get bogged down in going through all of this when the prosecution is going to start concentrating on murder charges. They only thing they shouldn't do is let her out to seach. That is just too much.

Did anyone tape the proceedings? Or will anyone be putting the video on youtube or anything so that those of us who missed most/all of it can view the entire video? If so, could you kindly put a link here? Thanks!!!!:python::popcorn::deal::trout::smiley4:

:furious:I can not believe that she even asked to do her own search for Caylee. She had 31 days to do it and she spent those days partying & stealing. Where is she going to search now? Please I am sorry but I think she is just looking for a little action if you know what I mean, because she can't do anything at Mom and Dads place.

As incredible as this must sound, I actually believe Casey misses the media shoving cameras in her face and screaming questions at her. She revels in that - like the last meeting with her home confinement officer, when the reporter trailed off asking, "Why.......are you strutting like that?"

The girl has no shame. She's bored and she loves being on TV and getting the "celebrity treatment." I almost cringe when I think about what a shock she's in for when she is in Florida Department of Corrections with a hefty sentence to serve (not cushy Orange County Jail.) Everyone will lose interest. She will get no visitors. Her parents will be in the middle of a nasty divorce and both will be blaming Casey for it. She will have scorn heaped on her head like burning embers and nobody to text-message about it. She is going to be like nuclear waste.

I thnk the judge will not let her out to search for Caylee but if he does decide to do it he should say she can only go if a detective goes along with so in case there is evidence they can call CSI. Also, for her safety as well.

Could it be he was going to try to point fingers like CA has toward individuals such as JG and AH. so he wants to see if they have passed Polys.

That is what I read into some of the motions. Revenge motions. They want information on anyone that said anything negative towards them.

I think most decent adults care about a tiny child. There is no way the courts will find in favor of Caylee's "mother", who didn't even report her missing, and allow her to go...what is the word, search? It's absurd.

Wonder if Baez has ever represented anyone on a really big case in the past? He's going to have a ton of reading with discovery, and he'll be wading through it till the cows come home. I don't see that he has any extensive staff to help him...he may have to tell KC to be quiet, and go sit and watch TV while he tries to read the endless pages of documentation and attempts to make some sense of it all.

Hey Baez ... I have a solution for your "there is not enough evidence to share" dilemma ... have your client tell LE where to find the body ... then there will be plenty of evidence to go around ... in fact you call all have one big evidence sharing party!

Bold by me...I can't see where this would help. searching with information she deliberately witheld from LE? for her missing 2 year old child? No, I can not see this as a plus.

Did he not say to go to points of interest she had been at in the last month? Wouldn't that just be his office and to see her home confinement lady?

I especially liked watching Dick Tracy walk into the courtroom.

it's actually Casey's fault that the fed's are involved. She claimed the child was kidnapped by the nanny and taken out of state, maybe to NY, NJ or PR. Kidnapping across state lines gets the fed's involved. And once involved they do not get uninvolved.

Not only that but the grand theft involved, she stole from a bank, she stole from her friends account AT the bank - that is a federal crime

And yes the kidnapping and going out of state and/or out of the country

One does not need to be a lawyer to see that this man is a buffoon.

When JB first started talking IMO, he wasnt making any sense and was very nervous. I think the judge realized that and cut him alot of slack because he knew that hes NOT experienced enough to handle this case. I think JB thinks he "won" and will now act like a bigger bafoon then he already does. Again, it was very clear to me that the judge cut him alot of slack because this is a high profile case and he was embarressed for him.

Re: bolded
She doesn't need a court order to allow her to share information that would aid in the search for her missing child.

As if he was participating in a high school debate.
Are you kidding? Those high school debaters are a smart, articulate, and well-prepared bunch. They're the ones who grow up to be good attorneys.

(My daughter was a debater, and could talk circles around JB in middle school. Her dad's an attorney--I stand no chance in any argument in this house :bang:)

As for the motion to allow Casey to search, I disagree with the previous poster that it will result in our cessation of faulting Casey for not searching. No one can possibly buy the, "I want to, but I'm not allowed to" argument from a woman who didn't report her child missing in the first place.

If it hadn't been for Cindy getting Casey home before she vanished into a new life on the West Coast, no one ever would have known.

Baez is incompetent to handle this case. Who's paying him? Is he a freebie? Because that's the only way I'd even take him as an attorney. He's a joke of an attorney for these charges, for this case.

Are you an attorney? Do you understand all the intracacies of the law and this case in particular?

I'm just wondering, not being argumentative.:)

It seems to me, reading the many posts here that JB is being judged for being a defense attorney and not really on his abilities.

I think it really doesn't matter what he does or says, he is going to be called out for it and I'm not sure that is fair. We are all entitled to a defense. JB is correct in that KC has been tried for murder before the public before she has even been charged. The public appears to have access to information, through the Sunshine Act, before the defense is made aware of it. Makes it difficult to prepare your case when you can not even get the charges clarified.

I am in no way defending KC. I think she is guilty plus some. But I think the attacks on JB are out of line to a large extent.

Just my opinion,

Salem

Casey must have had a hot date that she wanted to get to tonight....sorry...nothing til Monday!!

I can hear her on the phone now to her hot date "sorry, the little snothead atty of mine didn't win my motion...I'll have to wait for the nanny or my mom before I can come over....":behindbar

I can't watch the hearing live, but it sounds like JB is setting KC up for an appeal based on competence. It's a familiar defense strategy when you have a GUILTY client because it buys the atty a yacht...I mean time....
