Casey has not been tried for murder b/c of the prosecutor or the media. I have never read nor heard any reporter or rep from the pros office state they thought kc was a murderer. They have only reported the facts. kc lied about what happened to Caylee, they have said they have evidence in the trunk the child is dead. The public can take that and read into it what they want.

On another note, I really am surprised he granted accesss to testing in an ongoing investigation, that's just not right. The argument "there's not enough to go around" is just crazy. The investigators surely know that they have to allow the defense to do their own testing in order to use the evidence at trial. It would be working against themselves if they didn't save some from the defense.

I wonder, after the defense tests the car evidence, will they concede? will they say anything publicly about what they found? Will they admit Caylee is dead, based on evidence in the car?

This is the way I see it. JB has a small boutique firm ... I suspect this case is being worked as largely pro bono ... depos are very very expensive!!! If he can get the State to provide him this information i.e., do his work for him ... then he can save a lot of time and money!!

BTW, I would not be surprised if the State officially requests information about the financial arrangements agreed upon between KC and Baez, as this information is discoverable and might be relevant if Baez is being paid by someone other than the A's/KC.
True!

I would LOVE to see the State ask for that if only to see the look on his face! ;)

I dont think anyone is judging him because he's a defense attorney. He's being judged because he stammers, doesn't make any sense and has totally misguided this family.

He reminds me of a bumbleing, blubbering attorney in some comedy/sitcom/cartoon. (for lack of a better analogy) But, IMO this family likes him because apparantly he says/does what they want him to and it's obvious to me that can not abide ANYONE that does agree with them every step of the way. (hence the contempt for LE) They are right about EVERYTHING and everyone else just does not "understand" poor Casey. <heavy sarcasm> :behindbar I totally wonder about his motivations, but I think they deserve each other!

I got the same sense that Baez was asking for some of this stuff because the defense didn't/couldn't spend the money to obtain it independently, but I didn't realize that depos are that expensive.

I've been deposed a couple of times at work, and the only people present were both attorneys and a transcriber who was recording the Q&A.

I suppose adding to that the costs of transcribing and distributing the transcripts would make it kind of pricy, but geez - Baez has had at least two PI's (they visited Casey in jail, separately) and a co-counsel on this case, not to mention his *cough* PR subcontractor, Todd Black.

They're already spending a bundle - what's another ten or twenty grand at this point?

Not to mention Kobe, who probably doesn't come cheap!

Does KC have a scheduled visit to her attorney today? I want to see if she still has a smug look on her face.

for all you folks who have been making snide remarks about JB...i cant think of another case where a person would lie like KC and continue to be let out to stay in the comfort of family... JB is smarter than you give him credit for...he has a different style than the slick lawyers that have worked cases through the media...yet he is defending his client and defending her well.

Although by all accounts Baez did OK in court today - despite his bumbling presentation, he got access to much of what he was requesting in terms of evidence, something tells me Miss Casey doesn't care about any of that - she's just waiting to find out if she'll get sprung from the family pressure cooker.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it but...
The courthouse is indeed open on Monday even though it is Columbus day...The kids here also have school...

I know it's a longshot, but what's to prevent KC from sneaking out of JB's office (hiding in car, whatever) and tampering with evidence anyway? She's not on GPS and she and JB are devious enough to do it. Just in my opinion. She should have a tracking device. LE doesn't have tabs on her movements once she enters JB's office. They're giving her too much leeway as it is.

I think it would be great if Strickland, when he makes his decision Monday, agrees with JB that KC is vulnerable to the public (threats) and says because of this not only is he going to deny her motion to *search* but he is containing her visits to attorney to uh, maybe one day a week. Ha ha!

That reminds me of the friend/employee of OJ who advised him not to take his arthritis medicine before he tried on the glove...

No kidding. I really want to know who/what is bankrolling the KC defense train. National experts, defense attorney (he isn't her appointed public defender, is he?), and in addition somehow she's magically bonded out on a $500,000.00 bond. Inquiring minds want to know who has the deep pockets, and why?

LOL! She wants errand time? Needs errand time?? What to go to Targets & write more bad checks!!

Is there any particular reason that Baez hasn't been conducting depositions all along?

I noticed the judge told him several times to go out and depose people in order to get the information he was seeking.

This girl is scheduled for trial in a month. Baez has been her attorney since July. Why hasn't he been prepping his case?

He is Too Busy babysitting Casey IMO, and I also sense a "sense of entitlement" with him too. As to the poster that stated that some posters were judgeing him because he is a defense attorney and not on his abilities, I DISAGREE! I can only speak for myself, I don't see that he has the ability/experience to go forward with a case of this magnitude. My son in law IS a Great defense attorney, but he is also smart enough to know when he is in over his head too.

6 hours out is not enough?

Me too!!!:blowkiss:

But I believe that the subject of atty fees is considered privileged in Florida.

Courts keep exceptions quite narrow in ordering disclosure.

From the reading I've done, I don't see any of the exceptions in this case. jmho:)

No one expects her to physically search, we just want her to aid the LE in the search by giving truthful info, names, places.... She has stated she knows where Caylee is but was fearful for her saftey if she talks! Come on. I don't think most parents would sit on their hands if their child is missing.

While I agree with you that there are some that feel that way, there are others that have questioned "Why isn't she out searching for her daughter?"

With that said...if indeed what she has stated "she knows where Caylee is but was fearful for her safety if she talks", I could see why she wouldn't be forthcoming. She has said in the past that she didn't trust LE. My interpretaion of that is that, if indeed the above is true, she means, she doesn't trust LE to protect her or her daughter. JMO
