We the Jury! Deliberations

I bet the first hour or two of any jury deliberation is the jurors unwinding and getting out their feelings about the process, since they haven't been able to talk to each other about it before. A lot of tension is likely built up and they can start to let off steam and start to organize themselves. So I tend to discount the first 2 hours as their version of doing what we've all had the luxury of doing all along.

I suspect the next 4 hours of deliberations are taking a first vote, figuring out what evidence they individually and/or collectively need to look at, organizing lists and figuring out what the law is instructing them.

Perhaps some of them are confused by definitions of circumstantial evidence. I'm sure "reasonable doubt" gets its fair share of discussion.

And in this case they have to decide accident vs. homicide and then is there enough evidence to prove it was DP who did it (versus not enough evidence).

It might take them some amount of time to work their way to taking a 2nd and 3rd vote, depending. And yes, it all depends on how well they work together, how they resolve differences, etc, etc. Sometimes I'm amazed that any group of 12 random people can come to an agreement.

Will County is charging media $35/station "to repair the sod" on the lawn where they're holding press conferences. Really.

can I predict an after lunch verdict? Like... they will go to lunch... (or go thru lunch) and we will get the 30 min warning.

That is just my prediction..

unless of course they are hung... and if they are this could go into tomorrow

:moo:

That's what I predicted last night (or maybe in this morning's wee hours).

Are we Two Great Minds? (peeps, please hold the applause)

And Friday is looming....

Ok we have word Jurors are not deliberating thru lunch. IIRC they did deliberate last eve thru dinner???? What could this mean? Could we see a verdict this aft? If we don't I'm leaning there are some holdouts.

not necessarily over lunch (though I wouldn't be surprised) but they haven't come to a uniform conclusion. This suspense! The longer they take the more I think that he is going to walk.
I think that they have already done their due diligence by this time looking over the facts. It is something that you decide with common sense just like Glasgow said, if CSI has made it necessary that we always need to have fingerprints and DNA then that is crazy when you have this kind of circumstantial evidence.

The longer is takes the more I think that they are not in agreement and it will be a hung jury or Drew Peterson will remain "untouchable"

tick tock tick tock

Jurors are having lunch. Brodsky says they are not deliberating over lunch. But that's not certain.

for the damage caused by Lollapalooza.
The parking at the courthouse is very reasonably priced for the whole day too.

The media trucks were instructed to stay on one side of the building tho reporters had been stationed on either side on the lawn etc to try to nab an interview with folks as they left the courthouse.

If they have trashed their lawn, then I think they should pay to replace the sod

DrewPeterson jurors have a question!

Stacy was only 14 when her mother disappeared. Her mom disappeared before she was old enough to even get a work permit, let alone get a job.

Is there any proof Drew was involved with Christie Cales disappearance?
I don't believe Stacy had yet met Drew when her mother disappeared. I think Drew being involved in her disappearance is likely rumor. And fwiw, if anyone has followed even a tad bit of how screwed up the Cook County coroners office is, it wouldn't surprise me if Christie was there unidentified or the family hasn't been notified. That occured with another missing woman who was reported missing. She was a jane doe for months and the family not notified.

Christie Cales disappeared from Cook, not Will County.
http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/c/cales_christie.html

Out of curiousity, I mapped the distance between Blue Island (Cook Co.) to Bolingbrook (Will Co.). It's 26.1 miles, 40 mins., via I-55 and I-294.

How did Stacy end up in Bolingbrook? Was it because one of Christie's sisters lived there? If so, it's possible DP and the Cales sisters paths crossed especially if they frequented the bar DP owned. I think one of the sisters would be aware of that history though if it exists.
