Websleuths is changing our colors

I dig it. I've never been a fan of the traffic cone orange.
My issue (and others as well) isn't with the colors of the site, it's that the the font is hard to read with the upcoming changes. Make it pink and purple for all I care, but I just need the font darker, which makes it crisper, which makes it easily read.

I get it. My eyes are old and I might feel similarly if I viewed the site from my phone, but I do not, I use a laptop so the print is not too hard for these old eyes as it might be on my phone.

Notice there is some weird black and black text with the new blue in some peoples posts. Dunno why.
Can you SS an example of what you mean by "black and black text" and post it here? I can't figure out what "black and black text" could mean without an example of seeing what you're talking about.

Can we please get the laughing emoji back? Or is it gone for good? Thanks
If you look back up the thread, it's gone because people were abusing it to ridicule others, and the mods could not keep up with the workload to police it.

I believe there's a laughing emoji in the big array newly available for comments, so commenting in response to a post you find funny and using it there is an option.

Very interesting. I don't own a cellphone so I'm on a computer with a 24" monitor and the new font is lighter than the old and harder to read. I'm not the only one with this problem from reading through this thread. :(

I tried dinking around with how my system displays on my monitor by checking out all the Contrast Themes but no help there. They all sucked. :( Then I switched the System Display option by turning on Night Light (use warmer colors to help block the light), thinking that might help. This is what turning that on did to my screen:

Needless to say, I immediately switched it back. 🤣 And! The silver lining here is... that orange in the image I posted isn't what the new WS theme is being changed to. lol Thank goodness for that. lol

I had to go back to the orange/black.
The blue took forever to load a page and when loaded it keeps buffering.
Besides that I'm surprised that I actually find the orange/black much easier to navigate and was looking forward to the blue since orange/black is one of my least favorite color combos.
All is good though and it's a nice option to have.

Thank you for your response.

I used to not for ridicule but to indicate I found something funny or humerous.

Perhaps it does not need policing as we are adults?

I agree. We are here on a crime site so are discussing all sorts of things to do with murder and other criminal behaviour. Surely people can cope with a misused emoji rather than running to the mods.

There are two things that seem to bother me. Be aware I cannot read dark mode at all, but that is a singular person thing.

These are all new posts, but they aren't bold when viewing here. In my mind they should be. Not insurmountable, just not consistent.

I miss having a distinctive header on each section. The pale blue shaded blends a little too much. Dark blue with white or pale blue letters would be easier to read and scan for what you are looking for, imo. Or even some contrasting color like the green in the icons, but that might be too much green. But when everything is the same color but differing shades, things blend.

The light blue with white background is hard on my eyes and makes me squint. Maybe a slightly darker background or cream/off-white or grey with a navy font colour?

I do already have the brightness on my screen turned way down due to migraines, so it's not my screen settings making it too bright, it must be the colour value that's being used.

PS I do like to hit the laugh emoji rather than have to make a new post every time I find something genuinely humorous, I'd never use it to disparage someone's opinion.

Another vote here to have this one reinstated. It is so useful and there isn't any other emoji that works in its place.

I realise - as has been said - that if we do a reply to the post, this then allows the option to select :D from the drop down menu. But many times, I just want to make a quick response - not add another post to the discussion just so that I can add a :D
