Happy update - I do believe my searches are now working.
Sort of. fraize gave us back the old search engine (which is in reverse-chron order) while he works on rebuilding the search index for the new one. The new search engine gives results by Relevance, not reverse-chronological order, so if they are in reverse-chron order (and they are)... then we're on the old search-engine.

So... expect changes once we're on the new search engine. You'll then have to do Advanced Searches (and select "Order by date" at the bottom) if you want things in reverse-chron order. A non-advanced search (AKA a regular search) is by Relevance and all wonked out date-wise once we're back on the new search system. Just a FYI...

fraize's post upthread:

The new search-engine is MUCH more capable, but we can't set it to sort by reverse-chronological order by default.

So we will have to live with the old search-engine and all its cruftiness for now.

What's happened to the 😂 reaction for posts? It feels very alien without it, especially in DM's :(
Hi Rolypolyoly,
We removed the laughing emojii because some members were using it to ridicule posts they didn't agree with. It became too time consuming for the mods to deal with.

Oh, that's a shame. For some posts it is the perfect reaction, and a like just doesn't feel like it's appreciative enough for a genuinely funny post :)

That's a shame, Tricia! It's a really useful emoticon.

Any chance we could get it back in Private Chats? Along with a much longed for and needed Eidt Buttin.

Grr..Edot Bottom....idit biyyom

EDIT BUTTON!!!!

That is a brilliant compromise. Yes please to having it back in private chats.
But I would be more than happy to forgo all emoji to have an edit button in chat.

I will miss the laughing emoji - such a pity some posters have to misuse it and spoil things for the majority.
Perhaps they could have added a reasoned, well thought out, comment as to why they disagreed with the post, rather than resorting to sarcasm.

Also ading my plea for an Edit button in chat.

And - while I'm on a roll.... is there an option to add a search facility in private chat ? That would be super useful, particularly in long chats that have hundreds of DMs.

Thanks in advance

When you say edit button in "chat" are you talking about private messages aka direct messages? If so we can't have an edit button because of the possibility of someone saying something in a message, deleting it and denying they said it. Management does not have access to your messages so we can't tell if someone edits something. I hope thay makes sense. I haven't had my coffee yet. Dang it. I need that laughing emojii LOL

Yes ,direct messages. I can see your point ,but 99..9% of people just want to edit spelling or grammatical errors . Would it be possible to have an edit button which only allowed editing for a much shorter time ?

Ah - thank you - I hadn't thought of that Tricia. Makes sense of course - wrong editing in there could lead to all sorts of unwelcome issues.
