Speaking of "typical abusive" just reading about a trial I saw a Dateline (or something) on, a woman's stalker, who had already served time for stalking the woman I'm about to talk about killed her best friend and attacked the friend's 6 year old after he got of of prison, and was sentenced to life. (Waseem Daker = defendant)



Now the woman who was stalked is recanting her testimony in her best friend's murder trial and saying she was spending time with the guy after he got out of prison for stalking her.



The boy who was attacked was 24 or so at the time of the trial, (cold case, knew who did it though and finally got DNA) knew who killed his mother and attacked him, and now this woman is throwing him and his mother under the bus so she can try to get her stalker out of prison?



The defendant was his own attorney so this guy (kid really) had to put up with being questioned by the man he saw murder his mother and tried to kill him.



I know I don't understand the behavior of truly abused women, but this kind of thing make it hard to generate any sympathy. I know she has to be sick, but still.....this guy murdered her best friend just to get back at her.

This isn't a case I'm familiar with. I've just scanned a few media articles - none of which give much history of their relationship though. Stalking is a tool. In and of itself, it is abusive but some people are stalked by people they've never even met too. Not knowing the nature of Lottie and Waseem's relationship, if I were to assume it was an abusive, intimate one prior to the stalking, I would have to say her actions - in recanting and hooking up with him ten years later - are NOT typical.

By and far, once out of an abusive relationships, victims go through a process of almost natural emotional recovery - which time and distance lend clarity to - in which they become more aware of identifying abusive behaviors, less likely to minimize or diminish such behaviors, and depending on other various factors, some will even go a very long way to ensure they never find themselves a victim again.

I very much agree with you and would love to know when these were turned over to the Prosecution. When were they written? Me thinks they were written in jail.

I have become fixated on these journals, because I just know they were rewritten. Would she have needed to rewrite the 2007, or just the 2008? I can't recall whether entries from 2007 were used in court. Anyone??

It would seem a lot to write from the time of the murder (or maybe the beginning of premeditation) until her arrest, but I think in-jail would be almost impossible. Plus she was very keen for Flores to receive those journals during her interrogation.

1. Does the jail allow journal writing in the cell?
2. How would she then be able to get it (or them) into evidence?

Wilmott and Nurmi obviously have no consciousness of guilt when it comes to the twisting and manipulating of words and facts, but it's a different story to enter known false journals into evidence. I would think that would not be worth their licences.

She would have to smuggle it (them) out to Mum or MM, who would then discover same to present to the lawyers.

I dunno, but it was done somehow.

I feel the same way. I'm concerned.

We don't know what she's up to, IF anything. Apparently, she and Travis' family believe she didn't do anything wrong, and yes, she has the freedom to be there.

So! Maybe she will mind her p's and q's and not create a problem..................but we must also remember that OTHERS can create a problem around her (a statement, yelling, even inappropriate looks) and if it's in front of the jury, it might create a problem for the Court. I'm sorry, after watching Donovan and the laughing ladies' row yesterday, I can absolutely see someone trying to cause a problem. Doesn't anyone else????

Also, we know that more than one juror (supposedly) told the court of something this ex-juror did, that caused her to be dismissed. Wonder how that made the sitting jurors feel, with ex-juror now watching them? If it were me, I'd feel awkward, maybe a little guilty, I don't know.

So, IMO only, why is it worth the risk? I wish she'd stay away so that the DT has NOTHING to complain about. It's my hope that yesterday was her first and last day of attending trial, at least until the verdict. JMO

I wholeheartedly agree. I just don't want to hand the Defense anything at this point. I also base my opinion that I don't know her nor her reasons. I look forward to hearing from her after Trial. I was thrilled at first. Now I am uneasy. Given the way Jodie watches the Jurors intently and seems to have her own agenda :what:

Scientists say that women evolved to be more sensitive to nuances of body language than men because our survival depended on it. We had to be able to tell ahead of time when we were displeasing the person holding the power. That's why it's called "women's" intuition, even though men have it too.

For example, many of us feel uncomfortable with Juror #5 being in the courtroom because we understand that an exchange of glances followed by a head scratch could be viewed as Juror #5 influencing/communicating with Juror #8 in the jury box.

Jodi Arias is like a cornered animal now and she is into Plan B, which she and the DT cooked up over the long weekend break last week. She has completely given up any idea of bonding with the jury and (gasp) her attorney has even accused them of lying. Safe to say, they are trying to make the jury hate them in every legal way they can, hoping they will crack in disgust. Who wants to spend an Arizona summer going back and forth to court hearing the same thing over and over and over in slow speed? We all know stress exacerbates illness and even brings on illness. They are hoping for outbreaks of migraines, herpes, shingles, hermorhhoids, IBS, stomach ulcer, anything.

By running up the cost of the trial, they are strengthening their position for their next plea deal after the jury is hung.

I'm sure she doctored those journals before she was arrested. Maybe she even made the whole dang things up. I put nothing past her.

I really don't think they would be taking this journals seriously if she had them in jail with her.

And the fact that not once but twice, Jodi was found with 2 illegal pens underneath her mattress in her jail cell in 2009. Why would she need a pen when the jail furnishes cute little stubby yellow pencils?

And what about those pages that 'Travis made her rip out' and how she still managed to have them? I don't even think Penn and Teller could've pulled that off.

IMO Travis didn't give a rats arse about Jodi enough to care about her journal entries. I highly doubt he was jealous at all. If anything it seems he would've broken out in a show tune if she found someone else.
She concocted this fairytale up in her scheming noggin. I wonder what books ALV gave her?

Hope I'm putting this in the right place. First time caller, long time "listener" to WS. Really enjoy the insight!

I just have a few minutes, so I'll have to come back to see if there are any replies, but I have two questions/observations:

1. If LaViolette had a talk entitled "Was Snow White Abused?" and it wasn't really about Snow White being abused, then that is misleading. And misleading is what this lady has been from day one.

2. I haven't heard/seen any comments on how coerced Travis looks in the shower photos. He looks cowed and afraid. In one, I think he seems to have the beginning of tears in his eyes. Wouldn't this be an important part of the trial? Maybe someone has covered it, and I didn't see, since I've only been watching since Arias came to the stand. I knew that was crazy in and of itself, given the circumstances, so it was like a car wreck - you want to look away, but your curiousity gets the better of you.

By "That was crazy, in and of itself," I'm referring to the fact that Jodi thought it was a good idea, knowing what she knows, to take the witness stand. Her ego knows no bounds! I think JM can take complete advantage of that, and get her to lose her temper and admit to remembering the crime. lease:

To me it is laughable that ALV is so concerned with Snow White. Hey lady, how bout dealing in real time with REAL cases, not some Disneyfied version of a relationship, sheesh!! I don't have the time or patience to deal with such BS.

To me, she totally invalidates the straws she is grasping at by ignoring the HUGE planks of Jodi's behaviors and criminal actions, Jodi's undeniable violence in killing Travis, the things Jodi did to provoke such responses from Travis. No, not blaming everything on Jodi, Travis was not perfect, just a human tho whereas Jodi is clearly a very disturbed individual with a HUGE propensity for violence, manipulation and getting her way at all cost (even if it means slaughtering someone she supposedly "loves").

Oh but I am patient and this isn't Juan's first rodeo. I believe he knows what he is doing, even though he makes my head spin with his convoluted questions.

Recorded phone calls - check. She even says she never figured out how to play back the phone calls for him and goes on and on about how she doesn't want those calls and messages to come to light - yeah right.

And she called him bi-polar - suuuuuurrrreeeee, he's the bi-polar one!

BBM: Yes -- juror notes must stay in the court ... I remember something about this from that other trial in that other state ...

For some reason, I remember Judge Perry making a statement about the juror's notebooks and IIRC, they are "destroyed" after deliberations and verdict ...

Maybe someone else here remembers or knows the process ...

When I served on a jury for a civil case, our notebooks were placed under our respective chairs prior to court sessions, and we had to put them under our seats during recesses. We were not allowed to have them with us in the jury room during testimony but would have had them for deliberations if the case had not been settled without a jury verdict. The Judge told us that our notebooks would be destroyed - we could not keep them.

Well, I think her other old boyfriend is some sort of a tech guru who invented voice recognition technology....can't we ask him to check that out for us? The voices on the sex tape, I mean. :fence:

BBM Oh, I doubt that very much (as in I really think it is entirely impossible). Voice recognition technology has been around for decades. I don't think she knows anybody who could claim to have invented it. Still, it wouldn't surprise me if she claimed she knew someone who did.

IMO

I think it's a matter of balance and finesse. When you display the same intense, angry passion about the minutia as you do about the major issues, I think it loses some effectiveness.

Perhaps he knows what he's doing, and has had success with it over the years. I hope so.

I really really do like and highly admire Juan Martinez. Since I have had the pleasure of watching him throughout this case and also watching youtube videos of other cases he has tried... I find him to be the very best Prosecutor I've seen in over two decades of watching criminal trials.

I did not see any badgering. Anytime he raises his voice in indignation it is because the witness is trying to be evasive or arrogant, combative.. or wanting to spar with him rather than answering his questions just like JA, Samuels and ALV has done. He is no shrinking wallflower nor should he ever be.

He put on tight clear case filled with overwhelming evidence of premeditation and did it in only 9 days then he rested his CIC. He is not the problem for prolonging this case and making it into a farce. The DTs CIC has been ongoing for months now. Imo, Juan's questions are fast, clear, and relevant. But he is a thorough Prosecutor and he will ask as many questions that it takes to get the evidence out and the truth known yet he never takes as long in his cross of defense witnesses as the defense did with their droning on and on boring directs.

I have said from the very beginning.. after researching Juan Martinez' history since being a Prosecutor for over 25 years.. and that is he must do what he does best and that is to try cases just like he has done in the past that have given justice to so many victims and their family members. Juan should be himself and he is. He is honest, credible, passionate and a justice fighter who will take as long as necessary to see that justice is done.
