I would like if someone could brief me about Gus Searcy and the 'passenger' he didn't want to mention when crossed examined by Juan.

What, when and where was that about? I've always found it unsettling that according to both he and Jodi, Gus was the one to receive a phone call from Jodi the night she murdered Travis. Why is that being treated as such an incidental? So another words, Gus went to Cancun fully knowing Travis was dead and yet said nothing to no one?. Did no one mention his absence? Was there no talk down in Mexico?

I came across Gus' alleged calendar for that month. Although I see what was pointed out (the same conference call as Chris and Travis were supposed to have) I don't quite grasp the overall connotation. Can someone please help me to understand this?

Gus and Matt are the two areas I'm not crystal clear about except they were involved somehow.
Jodi said (or slipped) during her testimony, that Matt was suppose to be 'there'. What was THAT all about and why didn't Juan jump on that?

"Matt hadn't answered his phone until he was THERE" says Jodi

Gus later elaborated about the passenger in his car on ne of the HLN shows. It was a woman who didn't want to be identified because she was afraid of the media at the time. He said his SO knew there was nothing going on. He gave her name in that interview.

Wow! It's amazing how it just so happens she mentions all the pertinent points of her testiphoney in the 5/22 journal entry. Phone stolen - check. Mimi - check. "Scandalous text message - check. Recorded phone calls - check. She even says she never figured out how to play back the phone calls for him and goes on and on about how she doesn't want those calls and messages to come to light - yeah right.

And she called him bi-polar - suuuuuurrrreeeee, he's the bi-polar one!
Oh holy cow!!!! :bricks:

I really really do like and highly admire Juan Martinez. Since I have had the pleasure of watching him throughout this case and also watching youtube videos of other cases he has tried... I find him to be the very best Prosecutor I've seen in over two decades of watching criminal trials.

I did not see any badgering. Anytime he raises his voice in indignation it is because the witness is trying to be evasive or arrogant, combative.. or wanting to spar with him rather than answering his questions just like JA, Samuels and ALV has done. He is no shrinking wallflower nor should he ever be.

He put on tight clear case filled with overwhelming evidence of premeditation and did it in only 9 days then he rested his CIC. He is not the problem for prolonging this case and making it into a farce. The DTs CIC has been ongoing for months now. Imo, Juan's questions are fast, clear, and relevant. But he is a thorough Prosecutor and he will ask as many questions that it takes to get the evidence out and the truth known yet he never takes as long in his cross of defense witnesses as the defense did with their droning on and on boring directs.

I have said from the very beginning.. after researching Juan Martinez' history since being a Prosecutor for over 25 years.. and that is he must do what he does best and that is to try cases just like he has done in the past that have given justice to so many victims and their family members. Juan should be himself and he is. He is honest, credible, passionate and a justice fighter who will take as long as necessary to see that justice is done.

IMO

I completely agree. He has a point to make and is trying to end the game playing which is what has been going on.
At least he is taking his job seriously.

What does it say? It only goes to the directory page.

Hello everyone! I used to be KY Gal on the In Session board, but decided that would be rather tacky now. So I spelt out Kentucky. I read here for the longest time and finally decided to join. Keep up the good work and Carry ON!

So Funny....KY Gal. Way back, my son marched in the band when he was a student in Princess Anne Middle School. Their school mascot was a Trojan soldier. He's grown now, but once in a while we still call him a PMS Marching Trojan.

I don't have a lot of money personally but maybe we should start a collection. This is something I would definitely pay to see! :floorlaugh:

I'll second this

Watching Juan's opening statement on HLN. Does JA look like she's SHAKING, as she testified she did during the opening statement?

NO WAY. Not even a hit of a tremble. What a liar.

I feel the same way. I'm concerned.

We don't know what she's up to, IF anything. Apparently, she and Travis' family believe she didn't do anything wrong, and yes, she has the freedom to be there.

So! Maybe she will mind her p's and q's and not create a problem..................but we must also remember that OTHERS can create a problem around her (a statement, yelling, even inappropriate looks) and if it's in front of the jury, it might create a problem for the Court. I'm sorry, after watching Donovan and the laughing ladies' row yesterday, I can absolutely see someone trying to cause a problem. Doesn't anyone else????

Also, we know that more than one juror (supposedly) told the court of something this ex-juror did, that caused her to be dismissed. Wonder how that made the sitting jurors feel, with ex-juror now watching them? If it were me, I'd feel awkward, maybe a little guilty, I don't know.

So, IMO only, why is it worth the risk? I wish she'd stay away so that the DT has NOTHING to complain about. It's my hope that yesterday was her first and last day of attending trial, at least until the verdict. JMO
BBM
do we know that for sure?
last i heard, that was speculation from Beth Karas and/or other TH's

When I served on a jury for a civil case, our notebooks were placed under our respective chairs prior to court sessions, and we had to put them under our seats during recesses. We were not allowed to have them with us in the jury room during testimony but would have had them for deliberations if the case had not been settled without a jury verdict. The Judge told us that our notebooks would be destroyed - we could not keep them.

:seeya: Hi Bette ! Thanks ... that's what I thought !

And I believe this is common practice in every state !

Same here and guess what? I have Jury Duty May 6th.

His family heard the tapes before they were played in court. If it wasn't his voice they would have known.

Jumping off from your post.

My husband thought conspiranoia was the funniest thing ever, and was always trying to start preposterous rumors, so in his memory, this is mine.

If that sex tape had occurred in May 2007, when Jodi and Travis were "officially" dating, rather than 2008, it would ring a whole lot more true. My original problem with this was two things: they talk about the Cancun trip, and there's a reference to somebody (Abe?) waylaying Jodi at the PPL conference in October of 2007. Now I find out that they knew about the Cancun trip a year in advance. So, could it be . . . . ?!

No, I'm not serious.

I very much agree with you and would love to know when these were turned over to the Prosecution. When were they written? Me thinks they were written in jail.

I doubt she could do it in jail. But it is dated 5/22, so she could have probably worked it into the journal after the murder.

This is another one with a bunch of bad stuff about Travis, so it's such a lie that she wouldn't write anything bad about him. She even calls him bipolar!

Ironically she will not be speaking this weekend as they were inundated with furious calls. True story you can call, they have replaced her.:what:

Really?

Oh my.

Karma Train?

So she's got a little spare time this weekend now? May I suggest she "check" her attitude a the door and rethink her strategy for dealing with our Juan Martinez :blushing:

Hope I'm putting this in the right place. First time caller, long time "listener" to WS. Really enjoy the insight!

I just have a few minutes, so I'll have to come back to see if there are any replies, but I have two questions/observations:

1. If LaViolette had a talk entitled "Was Snow White Abused?" and it wasn't really about Snow White being abused, then that is misleading. And misleading is what this lady has been from day one.

Yep.

2. I haven't heard/seen any comments on how coerced Travis looks in the shower photos. He looks cowed and afraid. In one, I think he seems to have the beginning of tears in his eyes. Wouldn't this be an important part of the trial? Maybe someone has covered it, and I didn't see, since I've only been watching since Arias came to the stand. I knew that was crazy in and of itself, given the circumstances, so it was like a car wreck - you want to look away, but your curiousity gets the better of you.

Thanks in advance for any input! :seeya:

It's been discussed pretty extensively on here, but as far as being mentioned in court, I'm sure it might be considered subjective and not actually evidence of anything.

Good luck! I'm sure you'll make an excellent juror.

It is still a wonder to me how 12 whole people agreed with the Defense in KC's trial. I would have considered it a 'miracle' if one or two had but somehow all 12 agreed. I think even some alternate jurors said they didn't think KC was guilty!

For anyone that I have heard say she has no pattern of this kind of chaos in prior relationships, to that I say, it drives the point home even more that this is a classic Stalker situation. If they don't have this weird almost chemical attraction for a man, they can and do walk away, they actually get bored and move on. Once they lock eyes on someone and there is this "thing", um, he'll be lucky to get out alive. Same if a man is the stalker and goes along fine until he sets eyes on "the one". Once you live through it, you know how possible it is that someone has no criminal record, no real reputation for being bat shi* crazy...until that moment.

They can go along very normal, in and out of relationships and to some, not show an ounce of weird behavior, nothing that sets off alarm bells (I must admit my bias in that I do feel men fail to recognize "trouble" sleeping next to them in bed, as fast as a woman realizes it)

I am sorry, and hope I don't offend any men, I believe this stems from social cultural ways we are different. Men tend not to be afraid of women until they wake up and go to the kitchen in their boxers and find her standing there holding their cats body in one hand and the cats head in the other and her nightie is covered in blood and there is a knife on the cutting board.

I agree. I also think that most men aren't afraid of the woman/women in their lives because there may be this underlining feeling that they can defend themselves fairly easily if things went awry. False sense of security for some, including TA.

Watching opening statements on HLN - wow - Juan is great, and hasn't ever stopped. We're up to Mimi going to the house to see why she hasn't heard from Travis.
Poor Napoleon is going nuts when Mimi knocks on the door, but nobody answers. I bet poor Naps was so confused.

Good morning!

Can anybody tell me approximately where in yesterday's testimony you can hear AL saying that Travis was not a victim? I want to see the reactions on people's faces as she says that. If I have to watch the entire day again, I will jump out of a window. Thanks :)

ALV states that she sees TA, not JA, as the perpetrator of domestic violence.

It's cued:
