I don't think that she will be teaching any domestic violence workshops any time in the near future or thereafter. She destroyed her own credibility by refering to JA as a domestic violence victim when Travis was the real domestic violence victim, seeing that he ended up dead.

I agree. When ALV decided to become a defense witness for a known liar and murderer, she made a career-changing choice. :moo:

I am so completely over NG. I can't stand her, she almost got me last night with the scroll about live testimony, but I had her muted so I never had to listen to her drivel. Who the hell cares about Jodi's high school friend? What insight do they ever have?

That interview with Jodi's BFF last night was god awful. Not that I should expect anything else from NG. Total fluff and nonsense. The girl sounded completely stoned and all she said over and over was that it was heartbreaking. Nobody gives a rat's a** how she feels... pull up your pants and ask her some direct questions like what the heck she discussed with Jodi when she visited her in jail.

She is asking for personal privacy. "Don't show up at my house." "Don't bother my family, etc." Her statement has nothing to do with her coming into court to view the rest of the trial. I'm sure she asked the judge and she was told she is free to do whatever she pleases. She is not a threat, to anyone. She may make Jodi uncomfortable but that is Jodi's problem. lol

Agree Lambchop!! Juror #5 did nothing wrong...so there is no reason for her to hide. I am willing to bet the defense is now targeting another juror. I cringe every time a juror is mentioned by a inside court watcher or reporter, hoping their observation, innocent as it may be, is not a statement that alerts the wicked minds of the DT , JA or their evil followers to target yet another juror. Especially since ALV made the comment about Martinez 'coming at her like that' - that comment sounded similar to what Jodi said about his style of questioning. He's passionate and imo has more than a right to be. Just look at the crime scene photos. That's reason enough for his anger.

I posted this morning they have already been up against each other as far as I know.

The pedo letters hearing and he tore her apart.

Was also said somewhere now dont ask me where it was a while ago that her friend who has been in court said she was worried/scared about testifying

Probably because she approached Samantha when she went for her potty break.

Which is illegal.

Kcl posted about this in the court observer thread

I knew that 'someone' swiped Gramps' gun, but I hadn't realized that it was earlier on the same day that JA and TA exchanged their very first electronic communication regarding his imminent Cancun trip; i.e., May 28, 2008.

I remember that JA says that she was the last person to be at Gramps' house before the burglary occurred. Hmm...

Also the last person to be at TA's house before the ninjas killed him. Hmm again...

And the 'expert' witnesses base their evaluations on the defendant's 'good word'. :notgood:

That is huge!

Negative response, you think? Maybe her statement that Snow White was a battered woman turned people off. Or how her paid testimony is describing Jodi to a T and not Travis. Or maybe they don't want to watch paint dry. ALV could put an insomnia act to sleep.

Maybe because ALV is such a heat score right now and anybody associated to her doesn't want to be in the stink cloud.

Can someone explain why I can no longer see an officer in the court observing jodi any longer? At the beginning of the trial there was always an officer visible sitting nearby...I thought it was standard procedure to have an officer near by inmate in court of law? Where has he/she (the officer) gone?

Watching opening statement now....

JA looks like she's aged 48 years since the first day of this trial. Yowzer.
I noticed she aged a lot. just think about 5 years in jail having a fun time. cheeks was round ,well she looked healthy.case started the public is watching her lie and trying to decieve the world and its public she slaughtered TA in his home and she is bold and brave to say its selfdefense. .in court she came face to face with her own lies she is turning into a very grim wicked looking person ,like her evil she tried to hide on the inside is showing on her face now.

DH and I were talking about renting a movie this weekend - Lincoln or Les Miserables - but I think I'll try to find a DVD of Disney's Snow White to refresh my recollection of the fairy tale film.

:seeya: Snow White -- LOL ! I was going to check the Disney Channels this weekend to see if they will be showing any Snow White movies ...

But, when I was a trainer on DV, I dealt with the gender roles a bit differently.

I had the group compare and contrast the male leads in Gone With the Wind and Titanic. I used these because of their strong female characters (and because I love both movies :blushing:). That whole princess/prince thing didn't work for my audience in 1997. So, I wanted to show them how far we'd come, but how Intimate Partner Violence was what it was.

Now, with Rhett: He was ol' school, very sexy, and very powerful - a rake and a rouge with women. It was not so much that he was abusive to Scarlett, but that her willful behavior and obsession with the weakling Ashley leads to her doom. Think about the night of the red dress. He sends her off to be humiliated at the party (after lecturing her about the virtues of the ever gentle and long-suffering, Melody), then he gets drunk and goes to brooding in the dark. Scarlett and he have it out, and he demonstrates that he could "crush" her head like a grape. Scarlett decides she's had enough and turns her back on him (might even took a swing at him), but he swoops her up, climbs, the stairs, kicks open the bedroom door, and we can assume they spend a most exciting night. Talk about 50 Shades of the Old South! Abusive, marital rape? Whatever, we thought then might be seen quite differently today. In the end Scarlett sees the error of her stubborn ways, but it is too late and we are glad to see Rhett tell her he doesn't "give a damn" what becomes of her. Had it coming she did!

Fast forward to Rose, Jack, and Cal. Rose is "no picnic," to quote Jack, who sees herself being practically sold into bondage to satisfy her mother. Cal looks pretty good early on but as the story progresses this sexy, handsome, rich, and powerful gentleman slowly turns into a possessive, shouting, dish-smashing, homicidal maniac (notice the escalation here in less than a week). Jack, who in a different generation might have been seen as an effeminate, shifty ner' do well, is seducing Rose by offering her all the liberation her heart desires. Why, he even encourages her to "spit like a man." Meanwhile Cal is abusing his power to get himself (and his belongings, Rose and that necklace) a seat in the life boat ahead of even the children. He's taken care of his rival by chaining him up to drown on a sinking ship. When Rose makes a break to save Jack, Cal gets his gun and starts shooting -- I'll see you dead before I'll see you happy (and drown) with someone else. So here it's the gentle, sweet, and understanding Jack that in the end sacrifices his life for our difficult, promiscuous female. In another time we might have thought Rose was just s sl*t so t'hell with her.

Of course there is much more to consider but I'm just saying things have changed. Nowadays we can see either gender being made a victim of abuse. Nowadays what makes a man weak or strong isn't so easily scripted. But the themes remain the same when it comes to a obsession, jealousy, and love triangles. What it really boils down to is who has the power in the relationship, how do they get it, and what are they doing with it.

Something to think about in a little more modern setting.

:hug:It is heartbreaking, isn't it?..especially in knowing that those who love him most are there hearing these horrific and devastating details of his very last moments here on this earth!..they know him best and while hearing these events described like Travis desperately attempting to protect himself, they know him, they can in their minds eye replay those scenes in their minds seeing such additional, traumatizing details of what and how Travis' reactive faces of fear, terror, and ultimate acknowledging that this battle he could not and would not survive.. those details we don't have in our minds due to our being here on the outside, having not known this victim in life...

IMO its exactly this that has me feeling such overwhelming sympathy, compassion, and the very real desire to some how offer them comfort from this pain..

She deserves nothing less than the death penalty.

If I were Juror #5 I would have come to court too. This woman has invested a lot of her time in this trial and I am sure it was very difficult for her to be removed from the jury. I would be devastated. I hope that we hear the reason for the removal after the verdict. I would be upset I couldn't deliberate.

If she goes to court and observes just like anybody else that is interested that is her business. She has said she will speak after the verdict and if she keeps with that I am fine with it. It is not her fault the media is chasing her for pictures or comments.

I wonder, since ALV has had all this backlash, if she will change her tone a bit on Monday? I know she can't take back what she's already said, but I'm curious to see if anything changes.... especially when JW does re-direct.

Oh yes. A nice amount of flesh is good. Plumpness is good. Youthful.
Soon we'll be able to call her grandma Arias. <mod snip>

ALV should get Dr. Samuels' phone number. By the time this is all over, he may be the only person on earth willing to associate with her.
