BTW. I have a question for other WSers, regarding the recorded conversation. JA said Travis wanted her to record it, because his phone didn't have the capability. Did she say it was recorded with her cell phone, or the one that Gus gave her? (I'm a bit confused about the number of cell phones in her testimony...did she have two or three within that short time span? One was dropped in a shake? One was lost and later found by Aunt - the "sex-tape" phone?)

Regardless of how she claims to have recorded it, it's very inexpensive ($16.95 on Amazon right now) to buy a little Sony earbud microphone that records both sides of a conversation from a cell phone or regular phone. Doesn't even require any batteries.

And Travis asking her to record that conversation is right up there with unicorns and the tooth fairy.

Liebchenmutti,

My brother was a well-respected neurologist and he was called to testify in court a few times. I can't recall the specific cases, but I would imagine that he would have been a prosecution expert witness. Anyway, he was quite insulted and angry at the way he was treated by the hostile opposing attorneys upon cross examination. His well-educated medical/scientific testimony was being dissed by non-medically trained lawyers. I'm sure that he kept his composure fairly well, but I'll bet that his bristling and umbrage were evident. He may have even fired off a zinger or two at them. Doctors have feelings too; and medicine is not always an exact science.

And didn't we see this very thing happen with the ME and defense?

I am hoping JM's expert witness will act strictly professional under cross, which I am sure she will, but if she got up there and acted combative and snarky......that would actually piss me off.

AND in :moo: the journals could be used to prove premeditation WAYYY in advance.

I think a careful word by word study of those journals should be done to look for slips of past and present tense.

My brain is still stuck on the 'Doctored Diaries', and I just realised that she did have the opportunity to rewrite them in jail - when she was acting as her own attorney. I wonder if LaViolette was in the picture that early.

Common sense tells me that she would have rewritten them before her arrest, and stashed them for Flores to find ... but ... she did not have self-defence as her plea back then. In fact, she stuck with the Ninja's for two more years.

So, I am thinking if LaViolette was already in the picture at the time of the pedo. letters, Arias would have access to all the evidence at that time (acting as own attorney); in possession of DV books to rewrite the journals using the applicable lingo, and the carefully crafted digs at Travis; along with the perfect way to substitute the new journals for the old, to Wilmott and Nurmi when they took back over.

I hate conspiracy theories as a rule. I'm just trying to figure out how she rigged those journals, because I know she did.

True, and I agree with you. My problem with ALV was the way she kept grinning at the gallery and the DT table after each 'zinger.' That said to me that she was putting on a show. She thinks she was winning the sparring between them, but I think she is underestimating Juan's prowess.

Her zingers seem to be aimed at showing that Juan is another 'abusive male' like those in her continuum. Yet at the same time she kept distancing herself from her own work. She treated that Abuse Continuum like a hot potato, wanting nothing to do with it on cross.

And she kept accusing him of mischaracterizing her Snow White presentations and yet we have seen some excerpts here where she did in fact discuss Snow White as being a victim of abuse. So I think she was the one mischaracterizing her work, not Juan.

Not sure I understand what you are actually trying to say in regards to wishing a whole segment of the population would hurry up and go extinct? Is there a specific age you refer to as “dinosaur”?

I think it refers to mindset and world view rather than age.

Does anyone recall why Darryl and JA moved to Palm Desert? I just looked at a map and that is at the other end of the state. California is HUGE!

EXACTLY. Why the heck would he want anyone to have evidence of something that he was actively trying to HIDE from all of his friends and co-workers?

It makes no sense.

I doubt they would give her the original journal. She probably got copies, if she asked for it at all. Even if she did get it, they would surely have their own original copies for comparison?

I may be in the minority here when it comes to Mama Arias.

First, let me preface by saying, I do not like the laughing, giggling, etc we see her doing in court. I don't like her trying to see stuff to the Enquirer. But part of me wants to believe she is doing that because now everyone knows how off Jodi is and part of her is happy, maybe not he right word, that Jodi is going to finally pay for what she did and all the pain she caused her parents.

I asked my Mom if she would support me if I had done this. She told me, first there would be no trial because I would take you out myself. Gotta love Mom :) But she also said, as a parent, no matter how horrific the situation, that is your child. Whether her support is for Jodi or for to see justice is served for what she did to Travis, who knows.

I just don't think any of us could honestly say what we would do in her situation. I don't see any shady behavior on Mama's part in the interrogation tapes. I think her feelings were honest. Many are asking why nobody got Jodi help. If Jodi got wind of anybody trying to control her and get her help, she would have bailed. Since she left home at 18 and she didn't play by the rules, I really cannot blame her parents. She is a grown adult.

Jodi is an evil, cold blooded killer and deserves, in my opinion, the DP for what she did. She alone carried out the murder. The only person who should be put on trial or blamed for anything is Jodi herself.

Just trying to maybe see Mama Arias' side of everything.

P.S. my opinion did go down when I found out Dr Phil has been footing the bill for Mama and Auntie

BBM....I'm already getting angry just thinking about Monday

DB's wife was remarrying and moving there and he relocated to be close to his son. JA tagged along.

Do you trust her saying she did nothing wrong, or do you trust the Judge that says she DID deserve to be removed from the jury?

Maybe it's not a question of deserving or not deserving. Maybe there was some question about what she saw, said, heard, or did that she shouldn't have and the judge removed her 'just in case.' I remember the juror that was dismissed in the OJ trial because the defense insisted that she had sought or accepted a book contract. The juror protested that she had done no such thing and wouldn't be writing a book about the trial. She was dismissed anyway to avoid having the case retried in case the defense was right. To this day she has not written a book about the trial and since it has been 17 years I think we can be certain she isn't going to.

Your brother is probably highly ethical, competent and unbiased, and therefor has every right to be offended by someone hostiley questioning his medical opinion. ALV is not, and therefor does not.

Even the handsome medical examiner, Dr. Horn, who testified on day 3, seemed a tad bit bristly when being questioned by both Juan and Wilmott. I could almost mentally append "ya dingbat!" to many of his answers to JW regarding the gunshot wound.

The biggest crock is if Travis really wanted to kill her (according to Jodi) he had a knife and a gun three steps in either direction from where he was standing at the shower. When Jodi was running down the hall it was she who doubled back and went for the gun (she claims). It was Travis' house. If his intent was to kill her and he said so why wouldn't he have gone for the gun, or the knife?

BBM It's a stumper, ain't it.

JM's witness will be so well prepared and well spoken that the DT won't be able to shake them. They may get frustrated like the ME did but it will be contained to their tone of voice and facial expression IMO.

I see no reason at all for her to "put" the camera in the washer. AND turn the washer on if she wanted them to find it?

She would leave it on the night table, or in his closet, neatly sitting on a shelf.

Nobody that I know would intentionally put a camera in a washing machine and turn it on Wash and expect it would function at all. And it almost didn't.

However if your theory is she meant to leave it behind so they'll find salacious pictures of Travis and her on it (proof that HE did like her, he found her sexy, he wanted her, they did bad things together and who cares about the Mormon Church, she wasn't Mormon (not in my eyes, she does not have the normal thought process of a person that can reasonably join anything let alone be sincere in her religious thoughts)

Then maybe she left it behind, but she would have still intended to leave it not in a place of harm, so the washing machine was still an accident.

But I think she meant to take it but bundled it up and could not find it. I think...not 100% sure as the argument is quite compelling, if she intended to take it, why take any time to delete crap from it.. Do that later..

ok, let's ask her.. she'll tell us the truth

It had to have her blood on it though. That's why I think she put it in there.
